Score from 310 reviews Good
- privacy - quiet area of the city - close to banks, stores and parks (2 blocks away) - beautiful clean room with a homey feel and historic touch - very knowledgable owner who's as kind as she is friendly - dogs are allowed and very accepting of them
Very few things I didn't like about this place. One was the lack of parking (I do understand it's a bed and breakfast) but the drive way only fits one vehicle other than hers. There was no wi-fi or tv, nothing to do while you were in your room especially if you were by yourself.
The hostess is sweet and needs company.
The musty smell throughout the house. This property needs to get in line with standards set by Quebec Tourism. Breakfast was way way below par.
I would definitely recommend Gite Gilbert if you are looking for a quiet place that is easy to access. The home is lovely and our room was spacious and well appointed.
Monica is very helpful and always tried to meet our needs. She's also very talkative and friendly.
The property is not very close to the old city and the main sightseens.
Everything... The room was fantastic and so tidy and clean. Such a trustworthy and kind owner.. BREAKFAST :)
Had a musty smell.Soap was old & used.Needs upgrading
Lovely old lady who talkes a lot Big breakfast Quiet neighbourhood Easy public transport to city
No WiFi signal in room Strong dog odor downstairs ( but really sweet dog)
Kitchen available for the guests. Good mattress. Spacious room. Decent private bathroom. Nice lady owns the place.
If you want to sleep past 6:30am, you will need an eye-mask. Wifi signal inside the bedroom is quite weak.
We booked 2 rooms and stayed for 4 nights in total. Monica was an extremely friendly and generous host and made us feel right at home. Her home was full of charm and character, which made our stay quite cosy and comfortable. If we ever visit Montreal again, we will definitely be booking a room at Gite Gilbert.
The Wi-Fi that was provided seemed a little weak as it was very hard for our devices to connect to the router.
Very good Breakfast Very nice Lady Very comportable Nice house
Location a but far from the Center but very good comunicated by public transport
House owner very nice, polite, kind. She made our visit even more interesting.
Monique is a Wonderful woman that has everything in order. Her beautiful house is indeed (at least for me), an amazing place to stay as you feel in home! She let me play in her grand piano and we have several good times during my stay when I played, as I play piano. Everything is very tidy and clean. Some older comments confirm that there is some dog's odour in the ground floor which is true, but nevertheless, it is not a big deal unless you are allergic to dogs. A bit retired from the city center but, once again, I didn't bother cause there are buses working all night long. Metro is not very far away. I would say 15min walk.
The room itself was beautiful and comfortable.
When I first arrived, the host was rather rude to me. She walked with me to the room and awkwardly hung around in there. I finally asked her to leave so I could change. It was really weird. I didn't understand why she was hanging around.
The B&B and breakfast has a good location in Outremont, not far (10-15min) from Outremont metro station or University of Montreal. The place is very quiet and the room well furnished and confortable. The owner is really nice, and makes all her best for making you feel as if you were at home, offering a rich a varied breakfast, and if you have time to share with her, telling you very interesting stories about Montreal and Quebec in general. You can also have the chance to meet and talk with the other guests from all over the world! A very big dog is there, but very calm, not disturbing at all
The only really negative side what the fact that, although it was presented with full use of the kitchen, the cooking place was out of order and not available, which to my point of view restricts a lot the kitchen's services. However, the owner told that she is planning to renew it soon, and a microwave oven is there. Additionally, the wi-fi was mostly working ok, but sometimes it stopped and took time to recover
Nice house in a good neighbourhood. Walking to the closest metro took about 10-15 mins.
Huge dog in the house which you could smell and too much talking by the lady of the house.
breakfast is very good
Charming house, and very interesting (and quiet) location. Monique is very hospitable and accommodating. We had the Queen room with ensuite. In-room A/C was appreciated with muggy weather. Has sizeable common room for guests with crockery, stove, fridge, and TV.
Main floor has strong dog odour; our room was fine though.
Convenient position, a/c very nice on a hot day. Excellent breakfast,
Not particularly clean to our eyes
Warm welcome. We felt like family members. Breakfast by far over our expectations.
You would need a car to go downtown.
Great location in Outremont, located close to bus routes to the downtown. The owner is very friendly and helpful.
convenience, privacy, setting, cost, and Monica was delightful and has a big heart
Monica could improve her attention to various guests' needs. at times she gets carried away with stories and memories and forgets that someone needs something for breakfast, for example
Monica is an extremely helpful person and also very nice and sweet. She takes care of the place very well and she is always concern about the guests and their stay. The breakfast is also amazing! It is easy to access the subway and there are buses available too. Her house is located in a very calm neighbourhood. For those who like animals, she has the most sweet dog. The dog doesn't make any noise and doesn't disturb anyone. We loved to stay there!
Monica was so warm and hospitable, and the breakfast was incredible- homemade quiche, waffles, etc. And nice to have a grand piano to play on. Nice quiet area and close to everything.
- one block away from a bus stop - yummy breakfast - Monica the host is very sweet & helpful
The owner, Monica Gilbert, is very friendly and welcoming. She takes a genuine interest in getting to know her clients! The post-war home is impeccable and up to date. Breakfast was personalized and varied. Thanks!
The grandfather clock chimes on the 15 minutes and on the hour. However, it can be turned off by stopping the pendulum. Unless you have a grandfather clock at home, I would recommend asking Mrs. Gilbert to stop it.
