The location is good.
WiFi connection is very bad, it can be easily improved. Several works at night hours.
Shared bathrooms were not cleaned.
Rooms should be in uniform standard. Also need to air conditioned especially during hot season. Bed also need to be of standard unlike currently where old beds are used
Staff was the most kind one ever
From Niagara Falls and was in Toronto for the night with a few buddies. The man and women working the front desk were very nice. They mistakenly charged my credit card twice and fixed it immediately. Room was clean and other guests seem to be normal backpackers. I've stayed in many hostels and this one was fine in my opinion. The hostel nicely located in a "hipster" part of town. Would stay again!
I tried calling the hostel several times at different points in the day and no one ever answered the phone.
Clean washroom with shower and towels in the room. It is very clean. You are at the main hub of down town Toronto. There are great Resteraunts within 1 to 2 minutes walking distance. Public transportation is right outside. You are within 5. Minutes using public transportation to the CN Tower and Harbour Front. You are within 1 minute walking to the Eatons Center.
Location was so nice
-beds wobbled and squeaked anytime you moved.
Proximity to Kensington Market & helpfulness of staff were the highlights of our stay. Nearby connections to public transportation made it easy to get to wherever we needed to go while enjoying the benefits of a unique neighborhood.Bathrooms & showers were neat & clean.
Would have liked one chair at least in the room which was definitely big enough to handle a chair even with four people in the room....
Beds were super comfy, toilets were really fresh (never seen such fresh toilets at a hostel before), and the location was perfect. Thumbs up for this one!
Wifi did not work in the main area and the breakfast was quite terrible. And of course as an European in North America: The coffee was tasteless and weak!
They were suppose to give me a towel upon my arrival and they never did. One of my roommates occupied 2 beds including the one I was using. I had to call the manger to remove his belongings. The roommate got back around 3am drunk and was conformational. It was the wrose experience of my life.
Big, roomy, quiet
the location was good, easy to get to subway, bus, shopping and lots of food options nearby; budget-friendly.
The included breakfast is a big disappointment, only toast and coffee which was horrible. Staff is not friendly or helpful; booked through a third party and nowhere in the reservation is the customer informed of a $20 key deposit - until you get there. The staff made me feel like I was scamming them for bringing it to their attention, told me rudely that it is clear on the reservation (it is not, I double-checked). Last but not least, they tried to charge me $15 for parking on their premises when I did not have to pay for overnight parking on the street right across from them - it was Sunday and the City does not start charging until 1 p.m. I was told by desk staff 7 a.m. and that I would get a big ticket if I did not move my car by that time. It felt like they were trying to make an extra buck any way they could. Not impressed. My first and last time there. I went to another hostel on Church Street the very next day.
There was a better hostel round the corner.
They closed at 8pm, we arrived at 10pm. They left a number on the door for us to call but they wouldn't answer all night so we would have been homeless if it wasn't for the kindness of the hostel round the corner. No apology, charged us for the night still. No wifi, they put men in women only dorms in the middle of the night, without telling the women! Security and hygiene are both a massive concern. No smoke alarms. And the manager is definitely a perv and a creep. Women especially beware.
While I was there there was a bed bug infestation on my floor
- location: right next to Kensington Market, Little Italy and China Town. Also University is not far away. - clean bathrooms and toilets. balcony and nice personal room.
- kitchen was not very clean. located in the cellar, the atmosphere down there was not very nice. - no other common room than the kitchen and the tv room right next to the kitchen - low quality breakfast (toast, jam, cereals, milk, coffee)
It's cheap and had room available
Only got a lower sheet and had to sleep under the same unwashed sweaty duvet than the person before me.
Location is great, right in the heart of Kensington market
Very unprofessional staff asking to get back the sheets to give me back my 20$ deposit while their cleaning person already took it! Hostel needs a lot more from the inside to be up to the great location it is based in
The location of the hotel was great my friends and I could walk to any destination in Toronto city. The room I booked did have air conditioning which was a huge plus. The bathrooms were really clean even though it was shared with an entire floor. The staff was friendly and helpful. Does have its own parking garage ! Basically if I had to sum it all up this place is great for college students !
The room that I booked had nothing in it besides 2 double sizes beds that were uncomfortable. The sheets on the beds hmm, it was not the cleanest. With a simple inspection you can make out several spots. The breakfast meal in the morning was just coffee toast and cereal. Nothing to fancy.
When I checked in, it took a long time to find my booking information. It was so noisy and hot that I can't fall asleep for the whole night. The university students nearby, they didn't sleep for the whole night, just for drinking and talking. The manage moved all my stuffs to a new room without telling me in advance. Just a note on the door of the previous room. Because the bus was late about one hours when I was back from Niagara Falls. I need to call the manage to give me the key of the new room. The phone no that they put on the gate of the lobby has no response. I have to disturb others to get the cell no of the manager. I was so disppointed.
I booked stays in Toronto late and this was pretty much the only hostel left. The rooms are relatively clean, shower/toilet as well and the location is good if you're planning on going to Toronto Uni or Kensington area often. For downtown it's a bit of a walk but totally doable. Breakfast is very limited but free so that was pretty nice. Rooms have aircon and heaters.
The owner shows no interested in absolutely any inquiries. Bunk beds and mattresses are ridiculously old and you feel like on a roller coaster when the person above or under you moves around. Didn't sleep much. Wi-Fi is a joke, basically everybody sits in the lobby because everywhere else the connection is too weak.
Low, low price: 205$ for six nights, plus key deposit. Good location: within about 20 minutes walk of Eaton Centre and close to College Street streetcar. Wi-fi. Clean washrooms.
Cramped, very basic accommodations. Three-four to a room. Creaky bed frames. Air conditioner didn't work for first four nights in almost 30 degree temperatures. Very basic "free breakfast" (bread and some cereal), which only started at 8:00 - too late for me. No real workspace.
Price and friendly staff.
Room AC wasn't working at all. Breakfast was poor. Had to deposit $20 cash for keys.
The service here was unbelievable. Everywhere in Toronto was booked out and the guy did me a deal so I didn't have to pay too much. The location is the best in Toronto, right in the heart of Kensington market. There was a mix up on one night that was no fault of theirs and they gave me a refund for the night.
Nice staff. close to attractions
Smelly roommate Too small beds.
