wonderful pool for the kids, and lots of variety in the buffet for children! a good quiet room, not fancy but with a fridge and microwave!
nothing objectionable here...a really solid road trip hotel!
clean, comfortable beds, fast wifi.
swimming pool is small, no free breakfast provided.
Roomsize Quality of sleep Breakfast was delightful
The location of the sauna is not optimal. There is only one shower available. No locker or similar. So you don't know were to place the cloth.
- Great pool
Bathroom was too small.
Aircondition Need to be changed
Great staff. Very clean rooms. Good Breakfast menu. Two very good Restaurants. Good location Staff was very helpful with questions and directions.
Not enough newspapers. All were on rods like a library and not available to take away.
Room was comfortable and clean. We were able to relax and watch tv after a long day on the road. They accept pets which is a plus.
Clean and big room for a 2 queen bedroom. Stay there 3 nights and excellent hotel.
very easy to find --right off the highway
only one elevator in a hotel that size.
The spa was excellent
Service at the restaurant
There was nothing to dislike
I was travelling with my Mother and I had requested a room close to the elevator due to mobility issues. At check-in they were going to put us on the 2nd or 3rd floor (near the elevator) but at last moment advised about a room on the main level that you could drive up to the patio doors. That was perfect! The staff in the dining room were excellent. We both had the beef tenderloin - was better than the beef tenderloin we had in Montreal a few days later! Rooms are nicely decorated.
That nowhere is it mentioned on the website that these rooms are available. Very strange design going from the front lobby area to the rooms on the main level. Decor in the hallway is outdated.
Advertisement showed an appealing outdoor hot tub but it would have cost the family 300$ to use it
The rooms were everything you'd expect from a quality hotel but at a great price. The staff were really friendly.
A bit out out the way, but OK once you find it.
Got a room out back above the spa. It was great! Clean, nice, modern, and not that expensive. Good value for sure
Prices at the hotel restaurants were a little steep, so we found a great little pizzeria in town to eat at.
As a CPAP user, I am often frustrated by hotels' and motels' lack of easily accessible power outlets by the bed. Not so at Hôtel Universel. There are at 4 available and easily accessible AC outlets between the two beds at night stand level, plus more at desk on the other side of the room, so there are places to charge smartphones, hearing aids, etc. The hotel rooms have been recently renovated and updated. Wifi was easy to access and of good quality. The hotel restaurant serves an excellent variety of breakfasts (not included). Restaurant and desk staff speak English and are helpful and courteous. If you are in a hurry, McDonalds is just up the street. We stayed here twice this summer as well as twice in the past. Recommended.
This is unfortunately typical for hotels everywhere in Canada.—the HD television in the room only received standard definition channels with a stretched, flattened picture. There was no button on the remote to change the aspect ratio so the image was not stretched and distorted.
everything loved the hotel staff very friendly
kids screaming by the pool before 9 oclock
The room was old and tired, So was the bedding. Despite the nonsmoking policy There were cigaret burns on the Furniture. The furniture and decor were like something from the Sixties To give you an idea how dated The hotel is , we were given an Old fashion key to our room. The hotel did not look like anything on the pictures, Both inside and outside. The indoor pool was closed. We felt we've been had.
Cleanliness excellent throughout. Nice pool area. Staff very friendly.
Beds way too hard. Need a car.
The kids loved the water slide and the pool. The staff was friendly and the rooms were very clean.
The fan/AC was noisy and we had some minor problems with the TV remote.
Pool and bed confort
Great place to Stop after a long day of travelling
I asked for a quiet room and was placed near the elevator/service section on the floor with a whole team of young French soccer players running up and down the hall until after 12:00 a.m. screaming and yelling while parents were partying - I was not impressed! I was also not impressed that I was not offered compensation for my terrible stay. The pool areas was way too busy, again with too many people and children not being supervised by parents - who seemed to be missing. I will not stay here ever again!
