The room was comfortable, clean and had been renovated very nicely. There was a small fridge and a coffee maker which were convenient. The big screen TV was also a bonus. We had a great breakfast in the restaurant in the morning. Very good food.
The outside needs attention, but I am assuming that is part of the reno plan as the property continues its business. The inside of the rooms and the lobby/restaurant were in very good repair and appearance.
If you need to be in Port Hawkesbury and the Maritime is booked, you're better off staying in Antigonish and commuting. I am not a fussy traveller, but I can honestly say this may be the worst value in lodging I have stayed at.If it had been a third of the price ,then it would have been a fair deal, but it's a run down dump and staff and ownership obviously take very little pride in what they do. They should be ashamed of themselves. They do the great community of Cape Breton a real disservice.
Close to our concert venue. Easy to get in and out of from highway. Good beds.
The whole place needs a bit of an upgrade, fresh paint, new seats in restaurant etc.
Good location, good facilities
Comfortable beds and pillows, clean linens and bathroom
Furniture a little tired Carpets should be replaced But a good effort made to make you comfortable
The WiFi was not available in our room. We wete told that the access point was supposed to have been fixed but had not been finished. No problem- take your laptop or tablet to the restaurant, have a drink or supper and get "caught up".
The location was very handy. A good restaurant on site.
We were amazed to see that the front of the motel and restaurant was in abominable condition. For a good motel and restaurant this very poor. For not much money this main entrance could be made cleaner and much more presentable.
The furniture and bed was fine
The building and facility is old and in need of a lot of repair. They tried to fix it up but wall paper and paint does not fix things.
Restrurant good food
Staff very helpful
Poor WiFi strength
The staff were pleasant, easy to talk to and honest.
The A/C unit was not working in our room, it made for a hot and humid night to sleep.
A good stop over place , food at facility. Quiet at back , the front rooms facing road I would not of cared for that.
Aside from its proximity to some restaurants, I absolutely did not find anything nice about this motel.
As soon as we walked in, the room smelled very musty. Our TV was an old style and was not even working. We couldn't get WiFi from our room. I asked the reception and she mentioned that because we were in the back of the motel, the WiFi may not reach at that end. The bed was very uncomfortable and the sheets smelled like mold and faint cigarrettes. I was charged almost $150 for one night and I find this overpriced. I've stayed at much nicer hotels for cheaper price. We don't even get a free breakfast with it. We were only offered a 10% discount at their restaurant. I chose this motel initially because it was the highest rating in Port Hawkesbury area. I can imagine what the other motels would've been like.
Curtain covered the air conditioner. We folded it around the vent but it kept falling and had to adjust a couple times during the night.
Restaurant was very good and the staff was very friendly.
We did not get any air conditionning and it was 32 C. Ask for it but got for answer that it will be another day. The only window we had could not open. I ask for my government rate and they told me that I had to ask for it when I made my reservation online and that now it was too late :(
he attached restaurant was really handy and the food was good. Two tour buses pulled in (each at different times) but things were still quiet and we were served immediately once we told the waitress we were not part of the tour bus. She said she was glad we informed her of that. Room was nice, clean and spacious. Staff were also great.
I realize by the end of June it's the high season for tourist but we thought the room was a little pricey.
It was a good location for us to begin our tour of Cape Breton.
For the location and room quality, it was over priced. It was one of the few options open in mid-May but it was not great.
Probably has not been updated in past 50 years
The staff was the best...everyone we dealt with were excellent and so friendly.
We had rooms in the back so the tv's weren't the greatest.
