Lovely place..not as close to esplanade as would have like but easy by cab. poor night sleep due to guests from a wedding up till 5.
Climbing stairs with suitcases. entering the assigned room to find the televison on and the bed unmade.
Great hot breakfast included
A desk staff standoffish and cool
good price for value, very good breakfast and indoor pool
room window could not be opened
Potential and a desire to change. Location and price was good. The food was basic but very tasty.
When we arrived, the reality show Hotel Impossible was filming in the newly renovated lobby, which was the picture on the website that made me select the hotel, along with pictures of a posh (newly renovated for the show I would imagine) room. That wasn't encouraging. I was directed to a dingy cheap-hotel smelling hallway, where I had problems attracting the attention of the manager, who was dealing with a lot (they also had survivors of a bad bus accident who had been sent to the hotel from the hospital). My reservation on Booking.com couldn't be located by the "woman with the computer who is shut in a room across the hotel", because the password had been changed and neither she nor the manager apparently knew the new one. No matter, they booked us in a reasonably comfortable (good beds!) but very tired room. We later had to collect our keycards and sign papers when the filming was done. We overheard one of the bus accident victims mention that when she dialed a 1-800 number from the hotel, that it summoned the police. The hotel manager agreed that that sometimes happens! We went down for a supper in the bar, which was dark and oddly decorated, and just chose some spaghetti, which arrived promptly and was tasty, though the server was clearly tired and cranky. We soon had a fiddler come in to play for us as a mini ceilidh that was intended for the crew of the reality show, but they were busy filming. The next morning, we went down to the heavily and randomly decorated breakfast room and were served a decent breakfast, though I was surprised not to be asked how I would like the eggs I ordered. When I added that I would like them "easy-over" I was told "well, that's the way we make them." Good thing I didn't want scrambled. The whole experience was intriguing, and we look forward to seeing the show to see what is suggested to make the hotel workable, but at present, they do have a long way to go.
Restaurant type breakfast.
Beware! Worst overpriced hotel on our vacation. When arrived got room with huge dead cacroach in the washroom. Fortunately another room was offered immediately, but once they have it in one room - they have it everywhere. Don't know who is doing cleaning there but hotel is simply dirty everywhere. It should have been nice place in the past but it's been simply not being take care of properly. Never again will stay there.
Staff was nice, had a microwave, coffee maker and a fridge in the room which was useful. Air conditioned. Didn't use the pool, but it had toys in it and it looked pretty fun.
No elevator to upper floors. A film crew was filming around the hotel during our stay so there was mess in the hallways. They were doing construction which made some noise, and obstructed the staircases making having to carry luggage to the room terrible. Breakfast was 'included' but was a small choice of 3 things off a list, and would only give us 2 choices because we we're vegetarians and didn't want the meat option. Drinks also not included in breakfast.
Pleasant staff, happy to help
Rooms a little tired, overlooking empty lot / wasteland, no lift - could be a problem for elderly, breakfast 'measured'
Only one coffee and one decaf in room for 2 people. Second day the same and no cups. Freezer in fridge was full of ice so we turned it off and left towel under open door. Informed reception and also filled out maintenance form. After returning that evening, the fridge door was still open and the floor was very wet. The housekeeper had attended to bed and towels etc. but had ignored the fridge with the open door and water everywhere! The hotel advertises free hot breakfast as a selling point. You have 1 choice from first part of menu (bacon, sausage etc.) and 2 choices from 2nd part of menu (egg, toast, cereal, beans). No fruit or yogurt and to top it off you have to pay for coffee or juice.
10 min from the port. Hot breakfast for free. Friendly staff.
There was an awful smell when you entered the building. Carpet and furnishings needed updated.
Facilities were very clean, comfortable and nice
Location wasn't the greatest
Location and staff were great. We also appreciated the breakfast included in the rate. For our visit to the Louisbourg Fortess it was the perfect place to stay.
No elevator - my friend had a hard time dragging her suitcase upstairs. Individuals with mobility issues might have a hard time.
nice room, comfortable beds, TV good
dining room closed at 7 PM one of the reasons we picked this hotel was the dining room. No assistance to luggage to room, and one of has physical limitations, so one had to cart in all the luggage, etc. on there own.
comfortable bed, great sea chowder
First room had been closed up too long. Second room was aired out by open window in the hall. Nothing nice to look at out the window. They had problems with the cable tv while we were there. They got it fixed in time to go to bed.
the people who worked the front desk.
that we got a free breakfast and had to pay for our coffee, my mom has to watch what she eats, we were asking the waitress about the jams , if she had any jellies, because mom can't eat seeds, the waitress made a rude remark to mom about being fussy. It was uncalled for mom gets really sick if she eats stuff that she can digest. like seeds , we have to be very careful in what she eats.
Location Entrance Staff
Smokers at front near entrance. Hallway carpets dirty. Heating/Cooling air system TOO noise. "Free" breakfast skimpy with one egg and coffee extra. Discuss it.
I was extremely disappointed to find out that the pool was out of order and that this information was not given to us upon arrival. We only found out when we saw the out of order sign on the pool door. The television in the room had busted speakers. This hotel is very overpriced for the quality offered. I would appreciate any reimbursement or compensation for the pool.
Very helpful reception staff
The window did not open. Breakfast was included and good but you have pay extra for your tea or coffee or juice. The pool was out of use.
Staff very welcoming; food was great and the bed very comfortable.
The bathrooms are dated and the lighting is poor.
Wi-fi wouldn't work for me and I was made to feel that it was because I didn't know how to connect. Phone wasn't plugged in (I assume because I couldn't see behing the Armoire / TV stand) and I was told that "yes, you will have to move it if you want to know if the phone is plugged in..." The place was dirty and smelly. I would never stay there again.
