staffnis great, friendly and cool!!!
great staff; good breakfast
a bit expensive
The washrooms were clean and wifi good on lower floors
No basic kitchen facility to cook in.
Dorms fine. Good breakfast.
Bathrooms OK depending when you used them. Wi Fi bit useless. No coverage in rooms and drops off early. Staff could give more info at check in.
It is good for college students and single people not good for couples or families
They don't clean your room everyday unless u specify and it is bunk bed for sleeping not comfortable at all
There is very basic breakfast which is ok, but people have to sit on the floor because there are tables for about 5 people. The hostel is noisy and dirty. There are problems with very basic stuff like... opening windows from time to time, the floors smell like old shoes.
Location. Hostel is in a great place on Granville. Staff does a great job both day and night. Overall good stay. I would stay there again. Clean, quiet and felt secure.
good value for money, everyone laid back and relaxed big room and bathroom close to lots of things to do - watch Anglea Dawson directing the traffic on rollerblades !
Nothing consdidering the room rate
very nice breakfast...
air condition during night time, very old sofa´s- should be renewed
location was excellent, close to transit stations and food options
WiFi performance was spotty and unreliable if not downstairs in reception area, where there was not a suitable place for computer use. My partner felt the place may not have been clean
Close to shops, public transport
good tips for the visit of Vancouver good info on how to travel
Excellent location, value for money, very clean cosy and comfortable. Also good breakfast buffet spread though have to be early as the bread toasters are limited and slow
The wifi is considerably slower in rooms and this have to be at lounge to get stringer signal. Could be due to being placed in the highest floor at the back of the hostel
Breakfast was sufficient. Nothing fancy, but filling and easy. Location was great if you didn't have a car as it was in the center of the city close to public transportation.
It was a little expensive for a hostel.
Location is good. We can walk to the Canada Place.
We book it through Booking.com and was told about $95. But when we check in & has to pay more because we were not their member. Nobody told us when we made our booking. I felt it was not fair to us.
Staff extremely helpful!!!
WI-Fi is so slow, and sometimes cut off
Clean, friendly and value for money. Kitchen excellent facilities.
Noise in streets during the night. Missing out on breakfast as had to leave early.
Nice staff and good common facilities, good and free breakfast, cheapest option I found in downtown Vancouver with private bathroom, good location with walking distance to everything.
One of the beds was terrrible. Room was very old but compared to summer prices in Vancouver it was ok value.
Great location, facilities and value for money. Very clean, much better than most hostels out there. Sheets and towels regularly replaced. No bedbugs or such things. Nice free breakfast (fruits, bagels, cereal, cream cheese, milk, coffee and a lot of other stuff). Look for their daily events like tours, bbq etc; great!
The only thing I did not like is the noise. The hostel lies in a very, very noisy district with a lot of clubs etc. Earplugs completely solve the problem though. Bring a pair with you!
Although our stay in HI Vancouver is now 4 weeks behind us, we both haven't found any positive point that we could mention here. If all the negative points don't matter for you : you are near public transports and you are quick in plain downtown ...
We are used to HI Hostels, and this is by far the poorest HI we saw during the last 15 years ! The pictures on the Booking.com Website do not reflect reality : furniture need to be replaced (les canapés sont pleins de trous et semblent avoir au moins 15 ans). The "kitchen" has 4 tables and 10 chairs, we think this does not need to be explained when you know there are 80 rooms ... breakfast had all morning 1 kinds of bagels, 2 kinds of bread and no diversity. Compared to European Standards on HI, the paid price (around 300 CA$ for 3 nights) is too high. If HI Vancouver has a *** rating; in Europe, you pay 25 € per person and night and you are in a 8-star-hotel ! Furthermore, when we arrived, the towels were wet and were not replaced. Finally, the Hostel is located in plain downtown, so be prepared to have drug addicts, homeless people, ... in the direct surrounding of the hostel.
Decent breakfast(bagels, muffins, cereal, bread, scones, milk, oj, coffee, tea). Friendly staff. Elevator (slow, but at least they have one). Staff kept washrooms and common areas clean. Baggage storage. Towels, sheets, and blanket provided. Lockers in the room, but bring your own lock. They are nice about letting you use the facilities before you've checked in and after you've already checked out. Good location for getting around and visiting. Easy to get to from YVR.
It was a bit hot and stuffy. For light sleepers it can be rough having fan or AC on...but that beats the stuffiness. Wi-fi was ok, but there were issues sometimes. Bring flip flops for the shower and room as it's not always in perfect condition, but that's to be expected as it is a hostel with shared spaces.
poor wifi in the room
It's nice to stay for 2 or 3 nights. It's very central, you have all you need and the things are clean
I wouldn't recommend it to families or for longer stays. The rooms are quite narrow and you haven't lots of space.
