Lots of reading material and spacious rooms to enjoy.
Thought an attic room for a 6'2 man was a tad cramped and felt Inn keeper was not as attentive to house quests compared to other B&B's
Not a warm atmosphere. Had to go down 5 or 6 steps to go into our in room ensuite. No handrail. Shower was small and awkward (in a claw-foot tub)
Great homemade breakfasts, welcoming staff who went out of their way to assist in booking tours and giving me an early departure breakfast. Thanks for a wonderful stay
Had an excellent breakfast!
It wasn't as homey as other B&Bs I stayed at. I enjoy talking with the owner and other guests especially at breakfast!
Breakfast was terrific. Very accommodating staff. The house cat was very cute. And since we were there to play in the Bandfest it was very handy to the rehearsal space across the street.
Wonderful breakfast both mornings.
The staff were very flexible at check in and offered a more convenient choice of room. I enjoyed walking around the interesting historic inn. The breakfast was tasty and ample and served in lovely surroundings.
It was a rainy and cool afternoon, but I felt the bathroom was a bit chilly.
The house was spotless and absolutely beautiful with very nice areas for the guests to use. The host was very helpful with dinner suggestions and boiled water for us to have tea when we returned wet from our evening Graveyard Candlelight tour at the Fort in the rain. Breakfast was delicious! The staff were very helpful and friendly.
We were given a room on the third floor which meant a lot of stairs to climb. The room was very hot & stuffy and when we opened the window & left for dinner the room was overrun with mosquitoes as there was no screen on it.
The location and breakfast were excellent. If you like traditional inns, it is a beautiful place to stay.
The hotel didn't seem very accommodating to families with children. I booked at a certain rate and was told I would have to pay an extra $17 for my 13 year old daughter. I traveled throughout N.S. for 7 days and never heard of such a policy. Also I did not find the owners very welcoming to travelers of diverse ethnic backgrounds. This was in sharp contrast to all the other hotels I stayed at in N.S. & PEI, which were very welcoming. Finally the access to WiFi was terrible.
breakfast was delicious. Inn Keepers were very friendly and hospitible. When we arrived, we were told by Val that she had upgraded us to the nicest room as it was available. :) We really enjoyed our stay and would return.
really nothing to not like. It is early in the season, so some outside work is still required........but normal.
Excellent breakfast meal
There wasn't anything not to like
Hillsdale House was one of the most beautiful B&Bs we used during our two weeks. The main areas were beautiful with exquisite antiques and our room was lovely. We had a wonderful menu for breakfast and the location was perfect for town activities.
We spent three nights at the Hillsdale House Inn and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The grounds were beautiful, the room was comfortable, and the breakfast was delicious. The hosts provided excellent restaurant recommendations for Annapolis Royal and Digby and were generally very helpful. We would stay here again if we go back to Nova Scotia.
This is a true 5 star inn. The Hillsdale House is on the Annapolis Royal Walking tour. It is both historic and in impeccable condition. I felt like privileged to stay here. Annapolis Royal is quite a gem - not to be missed.
A really nice historic inn, with beautiful gardens and furniture.
We had the cheapest, though not cheap, room,it was small and equipped with the least comfortable bed we had in 12 days of travelling in Canada.
Room was quite nice
initial reception by our host was a bit hurried. Perhaps she was busy
