Score from 3 reviews Exceptional
The location made it easy to walk to dinner.
There were no locks to secure the room when you left the facility. The only security when you are in a room is a hook and eye. There was no soap in the bathroom. The proprietor was gone and her substitute did not know how to make a credit card transaction. It was lucky we had the cash. The place just looked shabby and felt unwelcoming. The room was packed with furniture making it very hard to locate 2 suitcases without rearranging things. There have to be better choices, even in this small community.
location and value
musty and cobwebs, old bedding and mattress.
This was vastly over-priced in my view: $80 for a room. An urgent parcel sent express from London waited one week in the PO since the owners apparently do not pick up mail.
very quiet and wonderful antiques. Owner very nice.Close to town amenities. You could walk anywhere in town. Nice people. Nice lit yard at night with flagstones to walk on. The town is very quaint and it was a good restful weekend. Kuddos. Margaret Bonn,Windsor,NS
Front door not locked or could not lock your room but this is a quiet little town and there were no worries. Every one was so nice and informative.
Wonderful breakfast---staff very courteous
Bed too high---nothing to hold on to in the shower----stairs not very clean --no reading light on one side of the bed---owner didn't live there---hall night lights needed
The b&b was easy to find, since it is not a small city - everything is easy to find.
The house was not lit outdoors, so when arriving at night it was difficult to find our way across the lawn to the front door - there was no walkway, which made bringing suitcases difficult. Staff took several minutes to answer the knock, and then were perfunctory in their welcome. We were pointed to our room, asked what time we wanted breakfast, and that was it. We had to probe for more information. When asked about a key to allow us to get back in after we got something to eat, we were told that the main outside door was not locked. The door to our room "locked" with an old hook and eye, and didn't shut securely without something blocking it in front. The wifi password was not provided, even though it was on the listing. There was no other information about where breakfast would be, where the bathroom was, etc. The bed was uncomfortable - it was a king mattress with a queen frame, and was higher on all sides with a dip in the centre - we rolled to the middle regardless of how we moved. The ensuite bathroom had the shortest shower and no hooks or shelf to put anything. If you're over 5'5" it would be impossible to stand. Our breakfast had good coffee and juice, but the extremely salty potatoes, rubbery bacon and wet soggy mushy scrambled eggs did us in. We will never stay there again, recommend to keep driving to a different town, as options are limited.
The B&B was very close to the school where we had to give a presentation. Grocery Stores, etc. were very close and people in town are very friendly. All in all it was a pleasant stay, the people welcoming us were nice and friendly.
It would be nice to put a sign on the road so that people can see the B&B from the road. It was not very easy to find it in the dark. Also, I think that a little clean up behind the beds would be nice.
I liked that it was right in the town of Tatamagouche and within walking distance to the markets, restaurants and central to the sites in the outskirts of Tatamagouche. Our host was very friendly and accommodating, i.e. we were allowed to have our Tatamagouche friend join us for breakfast and that was very special to her! We had a very restful relaxing stay at Hollings House.
The house was lovely and tastefully decorated It was centrally located and within walking distance to everywhere in town Reasonably priced More than ample supply of bedding, towels, etc.
No choice in breakfast menu, i.e. allergies were not taken into consideration We didn't realize until we were checking out that the owner was out of town and someone was just filling in to help out because up until that point we had not met anyone and everything was done by messages. However, once we discovered this and the person was a busy, young mother this explained a lot and we came away with a much better impression that we had originally.
history, big room, lovely hostess
The owner is wonderful and accomodating to all needs. The house is always very clean.
