It was the best price in Barrie but maybe not the best value. The room itself was clean and the bed was comfortable. The hotel has gone downhill and is in need of a complete refurbishment. The toilet in the first room was blocked so we had to change rooms. The breakfast on Monday had run out of many basic items.

The location was good The manger was a creep. He was looking through our window twice. The other guests were loud and partied till 4:30 am. There was freash vomit outside one of the doors the next morning. Overall a horribly run location

It was close to downtown, clean and great price since we did not spend much time in the room. We asked for a non-smoking room and it smelled like there had been smoking in the room before us.

The bed was comfy, and the location was perfect. The reservation didn't seem to get transferred to the hotel, but the staff corrected it for us regardless. We had to ask for towels..only one in the room..the door let in cold air..it needs a better seal..there was no coffee pot in the coffee maker..there was no remote for the tv

We left after 30 min because the toilet was disgusting, the heat was stifling with no way to turn it down, the towels were stained, the bedding had holes in it and was yellowed, there was a layer of dirt/mold under the heater in the bathroom, no toiletries and a clientelle that appeared to be living there ... hanging over the balcony. The only thing that would make this right is a total refund. We never complain but this warrants more than a complaint!

Nothing Old, dirty, cold, no control over heat as it was controlled by front desk, noisy to the point of ridiculous, run down, dilapidated, overall a disgusting experience. Would have been better off to sleep the night in my truck.

we would never go back there again . This howard Johnson gives the chain a bad reputation.the staff was not customer friendly ,the room furniture was all broken, bathroom doors where busted in and we could not control room heat, not enough plugs in room.room was not cleaned daily even with note left on door early morning.we figured staff was off on weekends.asked for a early wake-up call at 6;30 am and did not get one.miss our meeting.had to run for clean towels.

It was pretty crappy compared with the Best Western down the street but with similar rates. The internet wireless was not working, and I would bet that the internet was not working period - maybe they don't have it. The guy at the desk said he hadn't received my booking. When I called to ask about the internet I was told that the night manager would try to fix it when he came in at 11, and the desk person didn't have access. The place is pretty old and run down to begin with. I'm not sure if I've ever stayed at a Howard Johnson - I thought that I had. That place is definitely not doing any good for your brand image. I would be unlikely to consider Howard Johnson again while travelling unless the prices were incredibly discounted. In comparison to the Best Western down the street, which I believe offered a very similar internet rate - maybe a few dollars more - the experience was terrible. If the Best Western was a 10, this Howard Johnson would be in the neighborhood of a 2 or 3.

Nothing. A total toilet. The worst hotel I have ever stayed in. It's a run-down dump. There are homeless and crackheads all over the place. I caught some druggie trying to break into my car at 3am. There are families living in some of the rooms. The rooms are terrible; cold showers only, awful beds and pillows, and the bed was not level. This place probably rents rooms by the hour. Avoid at all costs! Go to the excellent Travelodge down the street

It was the cheapest in Barrie The bathroom fixtures were in need of replacement. Our room was comfortable but well worn and needed attention. The breakfast was missing juice as the machine did not work.

Near the highway, convenient distance from restos, dancing, bars Area somewhat creepy with homeless abound. Maid banged on the door asking if we needed the room cleaned..um, yes. Then, she never cleaned it nor changed the towels. It was the second time we were asked if we needed the room cleaned...

Didn't care for it to be honest I initially made a mistake while booking rooms, thinking I was booking 2 queen beds / room not 1 so not enough room for everyone, but while we stayed we didn't like the fact that the hotel lobby and breakfast room smelt like a combination of a mens hockey changeroom / urine and that there were lots of fruit flies around the food...it was quite a turn off !!! Reception offered us 2 double beds at $119 a night but we felt we could get a better quality hotel for that or less so we didnt stay the 2nd night

The room was reasonably clean and the staff was helpful. The window was jammed in the open position and it took a while for staff to fix it. Also, the additional security on the inside was not functioning properly. The Inn attracts many young, noisy weekend revellers and I, being on the bottom, did not sleep more than fifteen minutes all night. I'm sure things would be different during the week. It's not in the best part of Barrie.

It was convenient for where we were going. The staff were very accomodating. The room smelled of moth balls, we had to spray air freshener repeatedly. The room was cold, we had to ask for a heater.
