Mostly soundproof rooms Breakfast was different everyday Breakfast was fresh and homemade Staff was great, informative and helpful Bedroom was very clean, nicely decorated
Toilet was across the hall The neighbourhood was a little sketchy although the people were relatively nice While we did walk most of where we were going, if you were driving, there is little parking and a lot of traffic early on in the day in the surrounding areas/
The staff were superb and it was a nice quirky little B&B. The medieval style room I stayed in was superb
In the middle of all attractions in St. Catherin, quite and clean place. Breakfast is great. Staff are excellent so helpful. Jade blue is home in Montreal. Room size is great, no carpets the hotel full of laminated wood.
location was excellent hundred year old house was interesting
staff not helpful on arrival both mornings breakfasts were disorganized-no coffee one morning area a bit sketchy
Close to Old Montreal.
Bettany (the hostess) - If it wasn't for her we likely would have just found somewhere else to stay.
It's just on the other side of a homeless shelter and a meth lab from all the things you want to do in Montreal. There was no close parking (expect an additional ~50cad for a weekend trip). Between the "low price" and parking fee, we could have stayed somewhere much nicer, with parking, a/c, and with fewer shady folks hanging around at all hours. A/C was advertised, but not present. This made sleeping almost impossible in the summer heat (we didn't want to open our windows in that neighborhood). We tried to escape the sweltering conditions by taking a cold bath in the "2 person tub", only to find that, by myself, I couldn't sit upright and stretch out my legs entirely - and I'm only 5'6". To get both of us in the tub at the same time required more creative yoga than I'm used to, and had no comfortable solution. It was about as romantic as naked twister with a spool of barbed wire. Don't expect to get a refund of any kind from the covetous and unscrupulous owner, however, as she will quickly cite her supposed doctorate in international bank laws and immediately threaten to call the police for "fraudulency" (even though she's the one who failed to provide what she advertised). Getting a proper receipt was a whole other adventure, as the total bill for a 2 night weekend stay came to 323CAD (270CAD + taxes + "additional fees"). I still have no clue what the "additional fees" are/were, but I figure 53CAD is worth it to never have to interact with this woman again. Luckily, we spent most of our time out in Montreal, rather than in the room. I suppose I should have taken warning from the fact that the owner doesn't live in the B&B (or even in Canada) and can avoid customer complaints by simply not answering the phone call.
lovely home, very clean and comfortable
location was near many things, but specific street seemed sketchy
Quiet location, nice and cosy guesthouse, lovely host and excellent breakfast.
Breakfast times are limited to 8:30 and 9:30, which may be a bit inconvenient for business. You are asked to call the guesthouse if you arrive in the evening, this is a bit tricky with European phones. If you are lucky another guest lets you in...
- good value - friendly hostess
- neighbourhood has lots of homeless people around - 8am construction noise
The breakfast was great and the room was well kept.
I'm unsure how to rate the location. Proximity to downtown - excellent for the price. If you're looking to be in close proximity to local crack-dens and strippers...You're also in luck! You can stop off as you walk down the street. Once inside you'd never know that just up the street a meth lab is working hard.
Two breakfast times. 8:30 and 9:30. You must sign up for one or the other. Max 6 per seating. Staff did not arrive early enough for 8:30 seating 2 of the 4 days. Door lock very difficult to open. Considerable strength required to unlock door.
Betina, the hostess, is cheerful, helpful, and hardworking. The house is quaint and comfortable. Breakfasts delicious and varied. Location is just a short walk or Metro ride from many of the attractions of Montreal.
Neighborhood is marginal, literally. A soup kitchen on the corner occasionally draws some unsavory people on the street nearby.
Bettina was exceptionally friendly and welcoming. Location itself is great for walking to old montreal and city events. The house is fantastic
Parking. Parking is several blocks away. The location is good but the neighborhood is sketchy - there were homeless men standing around because of the shelter up the street . They did not bother us but were disturbing.
Loved the themed rooms! The staff was very friendly and helpful. They had a great homemade breakfast waiting for me in the morning. The location is a nice walk to Old Montreal and the B&B is only one block from the public direct bus to the airport, was very easy to get there and back.
There's a halfway house, about a half a block down where tenants there seem to loiter and smoke outside, in front of it. The last night I stayed it there was a hockey game between Montreal and the Rangers for the playoffs. The street was quite noisy until 2am.
Friendly staff and very caring about their guests. Place is very nice and cozy.
Tea and coffee making facilities available bedroom comfortable and roomy. House had a appealing atmosphere
The room was cozy. Inside the home it was nice enough.
The location was shady; there wasn't a lock on the bathroom door which opened to the main hall! Also, the breakfast was skimpy. I choose a family room for 100$ was charged 140 because there were more than 2 of us. I thought it was a deal! I could have stayed in a better hotel for the same money!
Staff was excellent, breakfasts were excellent
No negatives I can think of, for the price
This B&B was in a great location. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I hadn't had the chance do much research prior to arriving in Montreal and Jade blue provided recommendations on things to do, places to eat at, and a nice jazz bar to go to alone. I was pleasantly surprised by the jacuzzi tub in my room which was nice to use after a long day of walking. The place was very clean and very good value for money.
Great location in city, nice interior, character, clean, well done
Bettany was awesome, food was good
The service when we were checking out, we were told to hurry up and leave, the location was awful people kept asking if we wanted drugs, internet access was awful. Too expensive for what you pay for. Tv is super small and really old, picture was awful. Don't Stay Here!
Great place, lots of style. Very cosy, clean and comfortable room. Bettina was very helpful and accomodating.
parking, parking, parking, especially at night.
Great location, a brief walk from everything (China town, the old ciy , waterfront, university, latin quarter etc) Parking is tough and some neighbors are a bit sketchy, but harmless. Staff was very helpful and friendly our room was clean, romantic and quiet. We had a lovely time! Oh, good breakfast too.
The host was very welcoming and informative. She is very warm and assisted in our plans for our stay in montreal. The room was surprisingly not the same one I had booked but I felt more satisfied. The room was clean, smelled fresh, linen was perfect. I like the small feel of the rooms with attention to detail in decor. The kitchen is nice and I appreciate how free guests are to utilize it.
At times I felt unsafe due to lack of surveillance at the entrance. I felt it may be easy for anyone off the street to slip in if someone were to hold the door for someone. I would appreciate. Better sense of security especially at the entrance. I also didn't like how this place was described on my online booking to have parking. We had decided to leave our car in an indoor parking lot for our stay, which added to the cost of our stay in that area. Lastly, our second morning the host was nowhere to be found- there was another couple that had been staying there too who came down for breakfast to find it not yet prepared. It was very odd and I called Bettina because we were supposed to check out that morning. There was no note left and we didn't see her, it was worrisome to us as we would've liked to thank her for all the help.
We got a free upgrade to the best room with spa bath and since no one else was booked that day - had the whole house to ourselves. It's really original in medieval style - slanted floors, antique furniture and even had a spooky feel to it which we thought was awesome! The location is literally 30 steps away from St. Catherine street so it's really close to all amenities and Old Montreal. These A+ and is highly recommended in terms of value!
