The staff are very pleasant and helpfull. The hotel was close to where I had to go. I didn't like that I was told the washroom was mine exclusively when it in fact was shared. It would not have bothered me to share. And that it did not have an elevator to move luggage.

We thought the hotel was rather funky and quaint. The staff were helpful and courteous .The location is very convenient .The restaurant downstairs was good but we only ate breakfast there. No shower cap provided. No blow dryer provided.Ill fitting door.Hotel still uses metal room keys!

Restaurant is stylish (though not modern) and friendly with an extensive menu and high quality kitchen. The room is low budget style but very clean. Over all a very pleasant stay. Only drawback is, in a room close to the fan, the noise of the fan which becomes more pronounced in the quiet of the night.

For the price, a convenient and quiet location. Handy in-house restaurant offering good-value breakfast. For those reasonably energetic, within a 15 minute walk to centre of town (and the bus station). No lift. Somewhat unusual arrangement of washbasin in bedroom instead of bathroom for the room we occupied.

Location was excellent. Very quiet neighborhood in central location to the inner harbor area of Victoria. Pub was friendly place to relax after sightseeing. Parking was free. Beds were a little hard for our family's taste.

The location, restaurant (and staff) and the pub (and staff). The water pipes and floors creaking were a little noisey.

We enjoyed the historic ambience of the hotel and the location could not be better for the type of sightseeing we like to do. Very clean, reasonably priced and adequate for our needs on this trip. Their restaurants were excellent and very convenient. Also great that they give their guests a discount on meals there. We would have preferred that the sink be in the bathroom rather than in the bedroom since it would have made more space in the bedroom, however we would still go back. This wasn't a huge issue.

Rooms and beds were very small. No elevators, particularly a problem when located on the 3rd floor. Pub did not have a consistent closing time. No air conditioning. Windows did not have screens. Bathroom fan ran all of the time, very annoying, when trying to sleep.

Hisrtorical site with homelike ambience, convenient location to beautifyl city harbor, park, walk to shopping;excellent staff made us feel welcome. Small facility had a very friendly atmosphere. Management very accommodating. Need to use stairs to third floor, fine for us, added to the ambience, but may pose difficulty for anyone having trouble navigating without an elevator.

Friendly Staff. Location. Wi-Fi was confusing to logon to and a weak signal repeatedly lost connection. Top floor room was too warm in summer and hard to cool.

The location was central to so many things to do and see in Victoria. The staff was very friendly and exceptionally helpful. The different sitting areas were nice and allowed some socializing with other guests. Regular rooms do not have hair dryers or coffee makers (complimentary coffee is available in the lobby every morning).

The cleanliness of the room/linen/bathroom all excellent. Didn't like heat in room at night, even with just a sheet far too hot. Opened window, but as onto a flat roof with fire escape access and travelling on my own, did not feel secure enough to leave it open at night. Also didn't appreciate old wooden table and bags of rubbish directly outside my window - shame, let place down badly. This was onlt outside my room though! Otherwise flat roof clear and clean.

The hotel is situated in a very historical area of Victoria with many heritage homes ( take the walking tour) yet close to the heart of the city near the Parliament buildings, Empress Hotel, city shops & restaurants and Inner Harbour waterfront. The staff was friendly and the room clean if a bit basic. Still, the special offer price made it a bargain worth some compromises. I would stay there again. We spent very little time in the hotel except for sleeping. As an older hotel it did lack some in-room amenities such as a coffee maker (though coffee was offered in the lobby early morning. It also conveniently had a restaurant & pub though we did not use them).Depending on room location the noise from fan extraction or smell from the kitchen could be a negative.I Did not notice an elevator and the lobby was up a short set of stairs from the parking lot with more stairs to the rooms which could be a factor for some.

Gr. Menno en Inge Geen lift, gehorig, slechte internet verbinding,
