The Inn is at the edge of Kensington Village which comes to life in the evening, but does not seem so attractive during the day. It is a good 10 minute walk to the nearest rapid transport station at Sunnyside and a 25 minute walk into Downtown. That said the walk across the pedestrian bridge and along the Bow Riverside Walk into Downtown is lovely.
We arrived very early hoping to leave our luggage prior to returning our hire car and checking in formally. To be honest approaching the Inn from the rear down Kensington Road we were not too sure about the district, but once we stepped inside the Inn we realised it was rather special The receptionist couldn't have been more helpful, helping us unload and guarding our car against a parking ticket. In our absence she arranged for our several bags and cases to be delivered to our room which was ready for us on our still early return which gave us time to enjoy an afternoon in Calgary before dinner in the Inn. We had booked bed and breakfast. Our friendly receptionist explained that many people leave the Inn early and miss breakfast, so they now give an allowance of 20CAD perhead per day which can be used either against breakfast or dinner. So on our first night we used the allowance against dinner which was beautifully served in the Chef's Table restaurant with a choice of 5 starters and 5 mains, all prepared in the open view kitchen by a team of three virtually silent chefs working in harmony. The dishes were well presented, and the cooking was of a high standard. Had the portions of the starters and main not been so generous (not to mention the amuse bouche) we would have tried the desert. The next night we dined out and had the breakfast which was equally well cooked and presented and fell within the CAD allowance.
This is an Inn we would recommend.
