We had a wonderful night here! Everything was understated elegance! Nothing contrived here just the most pleasant experience!
Everything - from elegance and charm to location and friendly professional staff. Chef's table offered excellent cuisine and open style kitchen added to the charm. Parking and access to hotel well thought out and convenient.
I booked with my credit card but forgot it at home so was not allowed to check in with my other ID yet I was still charged on my credit card
Customer focus of the staff Chefs Table - delicious Location by the river
Great restaurant Very nice room Comfortable and quiet
Room was a little too warm
We arrived very early hoping to leave our luggage prior to returning our hire car and checking in formally. To be honest approaching the Inn from the rear down Kensington Road we were not too sure about the district, but once we stepped inside the Inn we realised it was rather special The receptionist couldn't have been more helpful, helping us unload and guarding our car against a parking ticket. In our absence she arranged for our several bags and cases to be delivered to our room which was ready for us on our still early return which gave us time to enjoy an afternoon in Calgary before dinner in the Inn. We had booked bed and breakfast. Our friendly receptionist explained that many people leave the Inn early and miss breakfast, so they now give an allowance of 20CAD perhead per day which can be used either against breakfast or dinner. So on our first night we used the allowance against dinner which was beautifully served in the Chef's Table restaurant with a choice of 5 starters and 5 mains, all prepared in the open view kitchen by a team of three virtually silent chefs working in harmony. The dishes were well presented, and the cooking was of a high standard. Had the portions of the starters and main not been so generous (not to mention the amuse bouche) we would have tried the desert. The next night we dined out and had the breakfast which was equally well cooked and presented and fell within the CAD allowance. This is an Inn we would recommend.
The Inn is at the edge of Kensington Village which comes to life in the evening, but does not seem so attractive during the day. It is a good 10 minute walk to the nearest rapid transport station at Sunnyside and a 25 minute walk into Downtown. That said the walk across the pedestrian bridge and along the Bow Riverside Walk into Downtown is lovely.
Room was good, service was good, nice stylish hotel
Corridor outside our room was storage area for furniture during venues, 2 nights 2 venues, so as far as we know it's all the time
Being a seasoned traveller, the Kensington Hotel is my favourite place to stay. The tubs alone are worth the price. The staff are amazing and can't do enough for you and the restaurant has the most amazing food.
That I can't live there!
Loved our two day stay, away from the center of the city, and yet close enough to easily get to downtown. Inspite of a busy road, the rooms were well insulated and we were not kept awake by roadnoise.
The street was a bit busier than we had anticipated,
Tasting menu. Watching the expertise preparing the dishes. Excellent and well decorated smoked salmon for breakfast.
Nothing to dislike
Great facilities and dining, quaint location in the middle of a very fun neighbourhood. Will definitely be back, great for a couple's getaway.
Excellent staff. Friendly and very helpful
Wonderful; best night sleep of the entire trip. Great location, short walk to bars and restaurants, great breakfast.
We were greeted immediately and shown to our room which was lovely. Hearing that we were celebrating our anniversary a bottle of wine and chocolates was brought to our room. The bed and room were excellent. It was quite so we had a wonderful nights sleep. Hot coffee outside our door in the morning was greatly appreciated. The room was lovely and breakfast the next morning was delicious. Every person there made us feel special. It was a welcome treat for two weary travelers as we had flight delays getting to Calgary.
Cannot list anything, we loved it there!
-Nice staff and modern rooms -very good and fresh made breakfast -several good restaurants in the vicinity -complementary bicycles
-busy street in front of the hotel, have to keep windows closed all the time -restaurant is closed on Sundays, unfortunately when we were there
Great boutique hotel, lovely design, excellent staff and a great location in the Kensington area close to downtown. We stayed there for our wedding and were treated like king & queen, including complimentary champagne and chocolate!
The friendly people
Not much worth bothering about
The friendliest around... my truck couldn't fit in under ground parking.... boom free parking for u sir.... need ice... bam knock on the door... it made my romantic gateway come true...
When we did park in the basement we were greeted and escorted to the front desk which was nice. The 1st am juice and coffee was left outside the room which was as specified. The wine was complimentary as a result of the issues we were having. The location is very good. Close to some interesting shops and safeway. Good thing because we could walk to safeway to get ice since there was no ice machine. Room is nice as well as clean.
The room was as expected except there was only one pair of slippers. And the room was very cold. The thermostat was set at 30 but the thermometer showed 17. Tried “Guest Services” button on phone. Always rang busy. Was later told it has never worked. Press “0” (which is not shown on the phone instructions) and it rang busy. What would happen if someone had an emergency? I went to the front desk to discuss this. I was told the slippers were in short supply at the moment but that it would be taken care of. The temperature would also be dealt with. Told to use the gas fireplace. We went out and returned after supper. No slippers and no change in temperature. Ended up standing on a chair and shutting each small louver to minimize the effect and turned on the fire place. Hoped there would be a small bar fridge but there was none. And there was no ice machine At night there were 2 little chocolates which was nice but to be honest it was not very good. If you really want to set yourself apart why not work in partnership with Callebaut which was very close. Not saying to get the “best” chocolate there is but it is those little things that count when you want to elevate your standing. Went out early in the morning and came back around 4pm. Room had not been serviced. Asked about it and was told there is only one person doing the work but that we could have our room done next or the person at the front desk would do it later since the staff member left at 5pm. Waited in the lobby while the work was being and offered something to drink (coffee, tea, etc) That evening decided to have a glass of wine. Called front desk and was told to look for a small card with the wine listed. No such card. Also said that we needed more tissue. The wine came but no tissue. Asked again and it was delivered. Went to take a shower and discovered there was no bath mat. I decided to start writing things down. Hmmm, pad of paper and no pen anywhere.
Very nice room Comfy Bed Great Service Breakfast Paper and a coffee in the morning
You have to request ice - no ice machine available to the public.
An exceptional staff, great breakfast and superb location just across the street from beautiful riverside parks and just minutes from the C-Train station that takes you to downtown Calgary. Plus there's a Starbucks and other great eating places just around the corner. The staff did everything they could to make it an enjoyable stay. We'll be back for sure!
Staff was very friendly and tried to make our stay comfortable.
Very noisy rooms at the front of the hotel Couldn't control air conditioning which was on full blast all day and night Had to check out early as we couldn't sleep with the air conditioning
*free parking in secure underground lot *staff member came down as I was getting out of the car to greet me and help with my bags *during a downpour, they provided sturdy umbrellas, allowing us to make it to our dinner reservation at a nearby restaurant without getting soaked *room is both beautiful and comfortable *enjoyed turndown service with handpoured chocolates and a REAL fireplace (gas) *bed was a bit soft for my liking but the plump pillows had just the right amount of loft *coffee or tea + newspaer delivered unobtrusively outside our door *delicious breakfast made to order in the dining room. The lemon ricotta pancakes are to die for, with crispy edges and fluffy fragrant interior. *we didn't manage to use them, but attractive cruiser bicycles are available for guest use. *location is a cinch to get to with plenty of shops, restaurants, and cafes mere steps away. Take a stroll along the riverside, in the tree-lined residential neighbourhoods, or over the bridge to get downtown,
Liked being able to walk to restaurants, shops and movie theater. Front desk people were helpful, but could be more knowledgeable. Server (short dark hair, glasses) at breakfast worked very hard as she was on her own. She was extremely polite, friendly and helpful with recommendations for places to go!
Dropped luggage at desk upon arrival as room wasn't ready (got there prior to check in time). Was told bags would be in room when we returned later in the day; they remained at the desk in full view for many hours and were never brought to our room. There wasn't always someone at the desk. One front desk employee told us there were bikes for rent. Another said they were complimentary.
