This hotel was amazing! The staff was very friendly and the location was incredible. The rooms were beautiful and actually very well priced. The Ethiopian restaurant downstairs was delicious. We loved our stay!! There wasn't an elevator but honestly that wasn't a big deal.

We really enjoyed our stay at Kutuma. The bed was large and very comfortable. The bathroom was a good size and included a bath...they even provided some candles next to the bath which I thought was a nice touch. The small kitchen and sitting area were perfect for enjoying a cup of tea and pastry from the nearby boulangerie. Heating in the room was very good. The food from the onsite Ethiopian restaurant was also very good. We ate at the restaurant on our first night and enjoyed our meal. The cooked breakfasts were large and very tasty. The rooms are just upstairs from the restaurant. We stayed on a Friday and Saturday night and the restaurant was very lively on both nights. The noise from the restaurant, including a pianist playing until 11pm did filter up into the room a bit.

Different, not what I expected!! Was upgraded to the Penthouse as our original room was not available due to a plumbing problem. Very nice touch!! Restuarant menu was not varied enough

Very large room with well equipped kitchenette. There were even 2 coffee makers, espresso and drip, with coffee and milk provided. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Valet parking was cheaper then self parking at other hotels. Location was excellent with 2 cafes within half a block and lots of restaurants in close proximity. There is no elevator but the staff carried our luggage up to our room.

We enjoyed Hotel Kutuma as the location enbabled us to see another neighborhood in Montreal. It is a young neighborhood with lots of restaurants, cafes, bars and people on the streets. The hotel had a very comfortable bed in a room that was romantic and comfortable. The bathroom was nice although the water pressure wasn't great. The one small complaint is that there is not really a window in the room which made it dark although there was plenty of good lighting. It was very quiet and peaceful. No window in room. Also no elevator although there is help available for your bags.

Very friendly attentive staff. Unusual decor which was imaginative and consistent throughout the hotel Good restaurant attached which was very reasonably priced. Very comfortable room. Great location. No lift but that's only because we are "older folk" and only inconvenient when carrying heavy bags. Staff volunteered to carry them for us very courteously. Early morning drilling by workmen, which the hotel, we know, could do nothing about and which will ultimately benefit the neighbourhood. Maid wanted to clean the room at 9.30 am which was a bit early for tired elderly travellers!

The hotel is amazing! It’s small but very cute. The entire hotel is decorated with a Jungle/Safari theme. The rooms are huge and clean and more important, they have everything you need: A big bed, small living room, kitchenette with appliances, huge bathroom with a modern shower, flat screen TV, closet and dresser, desk.... During the second day of our stay it rained a lot so we decided to stay in until the rain stopped, at the end we did not leave the room because we were too comfortable. There's also a restaurant on the main floor (Ethiopian food) which is amazing, and several other pretty close to the hotel. The hotel is walking distance to the subway (about 5 min) and other amenities. Every time I return to Montreal, this will be our first choice!! Since the hotel personnel is also the restaurant personnel, sometimes we had to wait for a few minutes for someone to get to the reception. But not a major problem.

I really loved my room and felt I was really spoilt. I loved the table set for 2 and that there were 2 different types of coffee machines as well as the kettle, cooker and hob. It meant thta I could have my breakfast at leisure and have exactly what I wanted. There was even a balcony to sit out on. The bathroom was luxurious - the biggest shower head I have ever seen and a wonderful soak in the deep bath after a long day shopping was pure indulgence. The location was ideal for the metro.I would recommend the Kutuma to everyone looking for something a little bit different to the hotel chains.

The room was very comfortable - nice to have some space, a good couch, an espresso machine. The bed was really amazing and the bath facilities top notch. Despite having a "do not disturb" sign on my door, the staff would call me every day to ask if I needed the room cleaned, either waking me up or disturbing me in the middle of calls I needed to make for work. I thought the "do not disturb" sign was clear enough but apparently not... Also, if you are travellling on business you must know their wireless doesn't work well, I had to use the hard wire. And one day while I was working in the room some guy just burst in - never figured out what he was doing there as he immediately exited and said he was sorry, but it's still disturbing that something like this would happen (he was wearing a suit so clearly not maintenance...).

So many little touches, particularly considering the low price. Rain shower, large bath, new kitchenette, candles, espresso machine and a coffee machine, free movie channels, the first large and reasonably priced room service breakfast I've ever seen at a hotel...the list goes on. Great place. Best I've stayed at in montreal.

Everything was great. Loved the room... Very clean, nicely decorated and very quiet. Loved the restaurant downstairs. We could just park and relax....no walking or driving. The pull out bed needs to be replaced.

Staff was very friendly. The rooms had a kitchen and a luxe-bathroom. Everything was in a special African theme. Excellent breakfast (but you had to pay extra) and African restaurant that is part of the hotel. There was a valet service (also extra). Unfortunately the hotel was not really in the downtown area. Valet service was necessary, but this should be included in the room price since they only have 9 rooms. We booked 2 rooms and the room above the restaurant was really noisy until 11pm. There is no elevator, they help you with luggage, but it's not easy with small children or for older people.

I stayed in a king suite: very nice kitchen, great coffee, cute balcony, huge bath with jets (though they were a bit hard to manage), lots of space, nice hardwood floors, "living room" separate from bedroom I checked in on a Friday night and there was only one staff member working both at the check-in "counter" and waitressing at the attached restaurant/bar! She was very nice but clearly overstretched. While the room was quite clean and stylish the bed linens were cheap and our pillow cases were actually torn in a few spots. They looked like the kind of thin leopard-print bedding you would find in a college dorm. The air-conditioner was placed awkwardly near the kitchen area and while it worked well over there, the bedroom didn't feel much of the cold air. Overall the place had a lot of potential, especially in the bathroom and kitchen, but fell short of feeling like a luxury suite.

The bed was very comfortable. The room was large. The Metro was very close, approximately 2 blocks. We did have to pay $10 each for breakfast, however, it was healthy and very good. We paid $35 for 2 nights parking.

The coffee machine made excellent coffee. The room was lovely and very well-equipped, king bed, huge bath, kitchenette, wifi. The staff were really good (although sometimes it was hard to get hold of reception). I would highly recommend the breakfast for extra $10 and it was nice to have room service. The cleaner was also excellent and washed all our baby bowls, spoons, etc. The location was amazing, right in the centre of the action on Rue St. Denis, we even saw the Royals Wills and Kate drive by out the front of the hotel! I would highly recommend this place for a city getaway.
