Lady MacDonald Country Inn  

Our hosts were very gracious and accommodating. Breakfasts were delicious as were afternoon snacks. Good location - easy access to everything. Walk to downtown. Room was comfortable and clean.

Building exterior could use some TLC, but didn't affect our stay.

The Lady Macdonald offers some great rooms with incredible views of the mountains that rise over Canmore. Peter, the host, was very nice and if we had more time to explore Canmore and the incredible mountains in the area, I am sure he would have given us great recommendations. we had a great room looking out towards Mount Rundle and Mount Cassi and enjoyed watching the sunrise cast some alpenglow on those mountains in the morning. the breakfast was excellent and the B&B is also conveniently located - a 10 minute walk to main street along a pedestrian path.

Tv in room was hard to watch because it was to low.

We loved staying at the Lady MacDonald! I travel every week and this was a refreshing break from a hotel room. It was cozy, inviting and felt like home. The breakfasts were amazing and the baked goods provided during the evening were fabulous. Sitting in the common room with a good book, a cup of herbal tea and a piece of cake or cookie was everything a hotel room is not. Thanks Peter and Tammy for a great stay!

Rustic beauty, very relaxing and welcoming environment. We really enjoyed our stay and would go again. The home cooked breakfast each morning was a highlight.

It was like staying at my grandparents home. Very cozy. Close to everything. The bed was a comfy king size and the room was large enough to get around in. The breakfasst served between 8 am and 9:30 am was very tasty and presentation was good.

Trains, trains and more trains. Although located closer to the highway side the sound of the trains was relentless. You know this is going to be a problem when you see the container of earplugs on the night stand. Yes we slept but it was not a sound sleep.

The breakfasts were gourmet and the owners were inviting, professional, and courteous. The common area complete with afternoon snacks was superlative.

Would have preferred one of the rooms with a gas or real wood fireplace for the ambience but the electric fireplace did actually work really well. Would have enjoyed on-site spa/massage services even if they were just a mobile massuesse.

Spacious clean comfortable room. Own bathroom with shower and tub very appreciated. Loved the fact that the train was not as disruptive as other places in Canmore. Delicious gourmet breakfasts and snacks in the evening. Loved the little fridge where we could store a lunch

Coffee quality isn't nearly as good as the food, disappointing. A minor flaw.

It was ideally located, traditional exterior / interior.

Our room felt slightly 'bare'.

It was close to down town, and short drive to Banff.

Kind of homely

We liked everything about the Lady MacDonald. The room was very clean and comfortable. The hotel is a lovely place to stay.Peter and Tammy try hard to make your stay comfortable and it shows. when you return from a day out you find complimentary delicious pies and cakes to eat for afternoon tea. The breakfasts are amazing Tammy is a trained chef and it has not gone to waste what a way to start the day. Thanks for a very nice and pleasant stay.

Location

It was very mediocre for a bed and breakfast. The breakfast was minimal. We had to our ur own second cup of coffee - I guess they wanted to make you feel at home?

The staff are very friendly and accommodating. We were staying there the night before the GranFondo in Banff. Because we had to leave very early the next morning they put together a breakfast and fresh coffee. The room was clean and the whole place had a very cozy atmosphere. The food was exceptional. We would definitely stay here again.

Noise from trains- but no problem

The manager and his wife the chef - are so wonderful and friendly. The chef went out of her way to cook for my husband's gluten free diet.

Nothing - a lovely place.

The location is good- close to Banff and an easy drive back to Calgary airport. Our room was a reasonable size. Although the bathroom was small, it was functional. The shower had great water pressure. The bed was very squeaky and the mattress was saggy. The breakfast was superb, with homemade pastries, fruit, cereals and an omlette. We didn't find it noisy as we live near a railway line, but people not use to it may be disturbed. They do provide earplugs!
