Just what I was looking for: old charm, inexpensive, and well-maintained. If you're coming to Quebec City, you really need to stay in the old part of town.
It was nice staying in an old building...it was clean and comfortable...nice staff
Ive stayed in other places in old quebec...i didnt think it was worth what we paid...
Location was superb for me. Near center of old part of town which was where i needed to be. Quaint feel. Old. Stone walls. Nice street. Very walkable.
No phone in the room. No clock in the room. Must pay upfront. The front desk is in a gift shop. They don't even man the desk when it's time to check out. You just drop off your key (which is why you must pay up front). I didn't really mind these things (except for the lack of phone), but many people might.
Location was perfect and staff very friendly. Our room was clean and had a nice, large bathroom. Parking was just across the street and very convenient. This was our first visit to QC and would definitely stay here again.
Shower was a little tricky to adjust - kept alternating from scalding to freezing!
The location is great, and the room was comfortable and spacious, though basic.
They don't offer breakfast as the reception is also a gift shop and there aren't any dedicated common areas for guests. Also the WiFi was a bit flaky.
The room and bathroom were large with lots of natural light. The hotel was quiet. It was in a terrific location.
The stairs to the room were steep and it was difficult to get luggage to the room.
We were able to unlock our door by sliding our credit card between the door and the jamb, depressing the door latch in less than 5 seconds. Anyone could have also done this and broken into our unit. We had to carry all of our valuables with us at all times. The hotel should invest some of the money we gave them for new handles that give their customers the security they deserve.
Location Price Staff
Location was perfect - very close to everything in the old city. The room/bathroom were clean and the staff were friendly.
The wifi was very unstable. The shower temperature was hard to operate (either very cold or scalding hot).
Great location Good price/quality Spacious rooms Average bed comfort
Hot water in the shower was not constant and hence unpleasant
Location Staff very accommodating for reserving taxi etc
Shower in main bedroom area No telephone in room
The Hotel Le Cavalier Du Moulin definitely delivers. It is in the heart of the old city on Rue St Louis literally steps away from the Chateau Frontenac and the busy Rue St. Anne. However, because of the double windows we could hear none of the noise of the busy street life below – even on Saturday night. The room was on the first floor and in keeping with the style of old Quebec. It was clean and spacious being a double room with 2 double beds and an airy bathroom. The air conditioner was efficient and the large window that opened onto a landing was a real bonus. The people at reception (A souvenir shop) were more than happy to help us in any way they could. The Epicure Richard (a small convenience store) is just around the corner and sells food, drinks and wine. A wonderful experience at a 2 star price. We would recommend this to anyone heading to Old Quebec City.
A couple more coffee sachets would have been great and milk rather than whitener.
We liked the location
The staff was not very welcoming. We had asked for a cab for 6.45 a.m as we needed a ride to the VIA Rail Station. The cab did not show up and it was a little stressful not knowing how we would find a cab as we were running out of time. We decided to walk towards the station and fortunately found a cab as we got to Chateau Frontenec. I would suggest that you advise the staff at the front desk to recommend to their guest of another option, just in case a cab does not show up. Perhaps a telephone number of a cab company posted on a wall would help.
We stayed here recently for four nights. The location was great. We were within walking distance from most of the sights. We enjoyed our stay in the city and in our hotel room.
Location location location and price
Everything else not so great.
Steps to any touristic place. Lots of restaurants around the area. Indoor parking available across the street for reasonable price.
We only got shampoo and gel on the first day -and we stayed 3 days there! TV remote ran out of batteries and they couldn't get any during the 3 days we stayed there (weird when they own a store downstairs). Room a bit smelly.
Wonderful location. Great size room for family. Convenient parking location. Room has charming stone walls.
The location of this hotel is unbeatable, in the heart of Old Quebec and walking distance to everything.
The noise level on the street in the morning. The carpets on the stairs look mouldy and very tired.
Excellent location for the Old City.
So excellent that you hear all the school groups going by the hotel.....
The location and knowing that this building and interesting staircase was the same as in General Wolfe's time.
We didn't like the seperate bathrooms
OK service. Family-run business.
Charge extra for guest. walking to third floor with suitcase is painful...
Everything was perfect even if I stayed only one night. The staff were so friendly. I really enjoyed my stay in the city and in the hotel.
Nothing to complaint at this price. Excellent location and spacious suite. And don't forget to buy parking directly from them when u arrive. If u park else where , it will be expensive.
Excellent hotel, amazing location, and great value. The staff was very friendly and informative. This hotel is within walking distance of all the attractions of Quebec.
