Overall service and hotel itself was great!
The rain shower in our room was awesome but my wife would have preferred a bath which would have cost an additional $50/ night :(
We had a couples hot stone massage and it was excellent.
Night staff weren't very helpful when we needed a cab.
nice, modern and clean. the staff was polite but a little hard to understand as for some english is not their first language. If that is the case they need to speak slower.
pictures on the web showed a bath. it was a big disappointment not to see a bath in the bathroom. I was told a bath is only in one kind of a room. When we a were leaving we asked for help with the luggage. 15 minutes later I called to ask how long. Only then was I told it could take a while. I should of been informed it would be 30 minutes right away. we did not wait.
Hotel Le Germain is an excellent place to stay. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were amazing! Very spacious and contemporary. I felt totally relaxed just being in the room. The location is perfect. It's close to tons of great restaurants and cultural spaces. Everything is within walking distance. I would highly recommend this hotel!
The location is fantastic - so much is within walking distance (e.g. great restaurants, pubs, shopping, Glenbow Museum, performing arts). The bathroom was lovely and enjoyed the luxury toiletries provided (Molton Brown). We ate at Charcut Restaurant in the hotel and had a wonderful meal. Breakfast was included on the second floor and was excellent. All the staff were exceptionally pleasant!
Surprisingly, the window coverings are dark coloured wood venetian blinds. There are no black out curtains. This is a problem if you like a dark room. Given that the hotel is downtown, there is noticeable ambient light from outside all night. Of our two blinds, one didn't close completely/tightly therefore we found there was more light in our room than we prefer. Secondly, small jolt on the price of valet parking at $40/night. That is the highest we have paid in downtown Calgary so far.
Staff, room, parking, cleanliness, location, room view, room price
Breakfast selection (items included: very poor selection; also, additional big charges for menu items that should be in fact included already - see omelettes); fruit & champagne quality (room service product was tasteless this overpriced).
cleanliness location all inclusive i.e. wifi
Staff somewhat under attentive or inexperienced not a real concern
Great place to stay in downtown Calgary. We will return here when in Calgary again. If you like european flare this is the place to stay.
Location is VERY central, rooms are well appointed and bed is excellent; restaurants are really good
Window coverings are just louvers without any blackout shades... it was very bright in the room all night; also the street noise was considerable until early morning; there are no baths in most rooms; showers are all 'rainforest' style so expect to get hair wet
Location was perfect. Decor was modern and comfortable. Great shower! Housekeeping and cleanliness of the hotel was excellent. Staff were extremely friendly and pleasant.
There were no negatives.
The staff was very friendly and very accommodating. The hotel room was clean and very comfortable.
Watch out for the $40 parking fee!
No space was wasted and yet we didn't feel cramped. Love the modern feel and layout of the rooms. The service was excellent. Loved the extra help with holding our luggage. You left some chocolates for my friend who was celebrating her birthday. I had emailed asking you if you could do something special and you did. Thank you very much.
There really should be a fan in the toilet room and one small night light that a person can turn on for using the toilet/sink at night. The only choice is to fumble in the dark, obviously not familar with the room layout (I had a leg cast at the time) or put the keycard in the wall and then all the lights go on and wake everyone else in the room. The charges for just picking up the phone are quite ridiculous. .95 cents for dialing a portion of a local phone phone number? Pretty classless. Stand out from the rest and have free local calls. There was quite a large piece of broken glass on the carpet when we arrived.
Concierge very good, front staff very accommodating
Three staff walked past me in the hall way at different times and only one greeted me. At brunch, staff more focused on cleaning tables when no one was waiting for a table... While I had a pile of dirty dishes on my table that I would have preferred to be removed. Better 'floor' awareness on both cases.
Every thing but parking
Parking is a rip off I will not recommend to anyone because of parking fees 55$ for 1 day
Really large bed- and bathroom
The room was lovely, huge and the bathroom was also huge. The bed was very comfortable.
The room service menu is rather limited and pretty pricey and a simple steak tasted rather strange. Also the breakfast was a bit ordinary given how luxe the hotel is.
The beds and the brealfast.
Charge for local calls both incoming and outgoing.Exhorbitant charge for inroom snacks.
Love the location, decor, cleanliness, and amenities!
My room overlooked the back alley and the noise level from garabage trucks at 3:00 AM was awfully loud; Pillows were too fluffy, didn't have other pillow options.
Great location, comfortable beds, clean, friendly staff
Breakfast was disappointing, very small selection
I really loved this hotel. Beautiful design - brand new and modern - and very comfortable. The bed was also great, and and the linens were cozy! The breakfast was very good as well - high quality food and good variety in a really nice room with windows on two sides. The hotel was also right in the center of Calgary so it's a great location for checking out the city. Went for a lovely jog along the river one morning. Nice, helpful staff. A++
I liked it all - had a great stay!
rooms, common areas
My wife was in the lobby with a lot of bagagge while I returned the car. None of the hotel staff offered help to bring the bagagge to the room.
Luxurious. Great bed and pillow. Liked the nespresso machine. Great decorating! The staff was excellent, from the person at the front desk, to the bell boy. Breakfast was very good.
The lights were dim, even in the hallways. Nice ambiance, but also need the option to turn the lights up, in the bedroom. (The bathroom was good). Also, hairs on the floor in the bathroom (not mine) - lots of hair!
The breakfast is rather simple.
fashion, clean, located at downtown. So many chinese food and bars near hotel.
need more coffee for tried people.
