- people were extremely friendly - free wifi - breakfast was sufficient (bread/ jam, pancakes/syrup, tea/coffee, yogurt... - free maps, helpful directions, & valuable advice (the receptionist called the local restaurant to make us a reservation in French) - comfy lounge and seating area - full-size comfy bed in the private room - private rooms were in a separate quite building - very secure/keyed entry - free hair dryers - 15 minute walk to Mount Royal and a ton of great restaurants
- walk out in the cold to get to our private room - in the private room: toilet was separate from the shower and sink - it's a 30 minute walk to Old Town Montreal
-good location! just a few mins from the metro station and the bus stop to the airport! -friendly staff -cheap price -nice kitchen! we baked cookies. haha -rooftop
-the showers are a little bit small, but I couldn't complaint it due to the price.
We loved the cozy location and our suite with separate entrance.
Bed was sqeeky, matress could be better. There was no soap in the shower so we had to use hand soap from the sink in the room. It was fun ))
the atmosphere of the kitchen and common room the friendliness of everyone the location
I was on 3rd floor. Poor internet connection in room
Anglophones who were VERY Noisy at 4:30 AM
Location is good and the breakfast is alright.
Noisy place with creaking floors, people jumping in their beds and people trying to get in. Inadequate shower and bathroom facilities.
too noise sleep bad
Relatively close to city centre
The toilet in the room with private bathroom is actually in the room, separated just by a retractable plywood door
Breakfast is great, staff very helpful
Shared bathrooms not so comfortable, they seemed unfinished.
Clean hostel, very good price with breakfast included.
My room where I slept (not all the rooms, just mine) is on a busy street, so the noise of traffic woke me up early in the morning.
Location is great, breakfast ok (if you like a sweet breakfast), most important thing is that it was all clean. Its just a typical backpackers hostel, WiFi was working well and also there were lots of parking options nearby.
One shower was broken and generally there was very little water coming out. The one really critical thing was the bed, if you moved a little bit, the whole bed would move and make noises, so everyone would wake up in the room.
rooms a little cold. breakfast starts at 8, but at 8 am the door was closed and when they opened, the breakfast was not served yet, so we could not have breakfast because we went in a hurry.
I loved that it was close to everywhere I needed to be.
That the kitchen was closed after 11pm.
One of the best vibes I've seen in a hostel. The whole staff make their best to make you feel at home, always ready to help with big smiles. Would definitely come back.
As it happens to all old buildings, the noisy squeeky floor might be a hassle when you're trying to sleep and there's people walking around
Location was great, lots of stuff to see/do. Very friendly and helpful staff, breakfast included freshly baked pancakes.
Parking was a bit complicated, if you don't want to use paid parking
We were given a room downstairs in the basement! The noise from the traffic outside and the people walking around upstairs we got no sleep!
The friendly atmosphere which was mostly created by all the staff members. I felt more like a friend than a visitor and they help you a lot with practical information so that you can get the most out of your stay in Montréal. During my journey through Canada, this was definitely the hostel where I felt most like being home. I liked the fact that the hostel was not too crowded as they don't have too many rooms. This might also be the reason why it felt more like a house-sharing community than an actual hostel. I can warmly recommend to everyone visiting Montréal to stay at le Gîte du Plateau Mont Royal and I will definitely come back :)
The air circulation in the dormitory was horrible. The first days you couldn't really sleep at all as it was way too hot in the room.
- The staff was really friendly and helpful - Breakfast was nice - Good atmosphere - Perfect location - The private room was really calm
nice terrace! Comfy beds. wifi! Great location!
lockers are fairly small.
Friendly staff, bilingual (+), laundry available, in-out privileges past midnight, sink and mirror in private room, gay friendly.
Washrooms could use some renovating.
Great location, staff, food, very clean... just loved everything in this hostel!
Location - 6~7min walking distance from Sherbrooke stn (also bus(no.24) available every 10min, takes 2-3min between station and hostel) Breakfast Livingroom and kitchen Cheap price Wi-fi connection is awesome
Too hot to sleep at night (no air conditioner) Safe locker is too small (even small backpack fits so hardly) Washroom is too smelly... :( Water pressure is too weak/low
The old atmosphere
