The staff, especially Dominic, were friendly and very helpful. We had the unexpected surprise of being upgraded to a one bedroom suite. The bed was so comfortable and I loved having a small kitchen and refrigerator to use. The bathroom mirror over the sink was great, bright lighting and big so I could see to put on makeup plus there was a magnifying mirror attached to the wall. We enjoyed that we could open our windows and go out on the balcony to hear and see what was happening in the village. The room was quiet and we experienced no noise from adjoining rooms or the hallways. The pool and hot tub were private, well landscaped and relaxing. I know some reviewers complained that the pool was not open late enough (8:00 p.m.) but I bet that was because they had a life guard on duty at all times. The hot tub was open until 10:00 which we made use of. The location in the village was great and we never used our car once. We rode our bikes on wonderfully paved bike trails. We didn't use the tennis and beach club but it was a great amenity that came with the hotel. We also enjoyed the free gondola ride passes as we hiked to the summit of the mountain and rode the gondola down as well as rode it again the next day.
We knew the hotel was doing renovations which was no bother. The downside was that while they did provide a breakfast buffet, I understand that it was brought in by someone else. I must have misunderstood and thought it was a free breakfast as we are Starwood members. I was wrong and we paid for the meal but it was not good and at $21 per person, plus tip and taxes, cost $55 which is completely overpriced. While as I stated, the hotel was great and I would stay again, the cleaning staff, at least for our room, was not. When we arrived I found a dirty washcloth in the closet on the luggage stand, there was a hair in the sink by the faucet which never moved over the next 3 days so I know the sink wasn't cleaned. I found a frayed cleaning rag after the first day that had been dropped into my toiletry bag. I placed it on top of the toilet and it stayed there for 2 more days, even after our other towels were replaced. We kept getting refills on the soap and shampoo but we hadn't used up the first bottles so our partially used bottles remained while a stockpile of new bottles added up, it was just too cluttered. My robe which had been on the bed, was on the floor after the bed was made. None of these things are deal-breakers, it just was not the quality that the rest of the hotel displays.
