Score from 123 reviews Wonderful
Good location, comfy beds but it is more a motel then an Inn
It was over priced for what you got
breakfast was excellent, very comfortable bed, good location - convenient to Baddeck amenities.
Great in-town location. Walking distance to town and sights. Good restaurant at hotel. Clean, comfortable room. Friendly staff.
Worn carpet in room. No coffee maker in room and no coffee in lobby. Had to walk to convenience store next door for coffee. No exhaust fan in bathroom.
The old Victorian style but with clean new lines.
I liked everything.
We liked impeccable cleanliness, huge and comfortable beds, ample supply of towels, home atmosphere and friendly absolutely everywhere. WiFi was fast and flawless as well.
Location Staff was very helpful.
TV needs to be updated to a modern flat screen No coffee perk in room.
I love the authentic decor and how clean the place is kept.
Location Restaurant on site Room comfortable, and accommodated three easily with Queen beds
Would have welcomed coffee and tea available in room! Room booked for three adults..set up for two, towels, glasses etc. They brought them promptly.
The bed was very uncomfortable. Our dinner was only warm and there was no white turkey meat on my plate, the stuffing was very spicy. We had pancakes for breakfast they looked nice but tasted terrible. We could not finish either meal.
We loved the room we had. We had a balcony which I felt was a nice extra, and the room was very clean, relaxing atmosphere, friendly staff, very accommendating and loved the whirlpool jets in the bath!! Just awesome!!
The only thing I didn t like was the bed. It was so hard that I was always waking up sore
Furnishings, comfortable bed
All the above. We were received cordially, helped with planning our time and so comfortable we stayed an extra night. We also enjoyed the dining room - both dinner and breakfast, The Alexander Graham Bell museum (not part of the Lynwood) was a welcome surprise on a wet morning and misty Louisbourg fort is not too far away.
Nothing not to like at Lynwood.
It's a nice location to walk around, house itself was quite nice. Food was alright, although the restraunt closes super early. Staff was friendly although they were a bit busy (can't fault them for that!)
Their wifi was terrible. Reception was alright but I think there's a fundamental problem with how they have it setup, their DCHP server would never hand out addresses and you can't use static IPs...
Room was spacious and very comfortable, and the bathroom was also roomy, modern and very clean. Luckily I always bring my own hair dryer as there was none provided. The staff in the dining room were very pleasant and the meals were nice 'n tasty!!
The only thing that annoyed us was the fact that the floors were thin, i.e. We could hear a gentleman's loud voice chatting away for an hour the evening we arrived. We were on the second floor and he was in the room below us. Could hear everything he was saying so we has to turn up the volume of the TV. :-(
Rooms were a good size, clean, comfortable. For disabled customers stairs could be avoided. Our family have stayed here several times over the last three years. It is close to other amenities in the town. Good advice was given about interesting tourist sites. Food is usually excellent*
* There must have been a problem in the kitchen on Thursday Sept 4th. Half the mussels we ordered had not opened - either insufficiently cooked or dead!! The haddock was so thin that the breading was thicker than the fish which was dried out, cold and tasteless. I felt it had been recycled and reheated. The trout was dry, cold and tasteless. Although we were not charged for the mussels and one meal I did not feel that there was anyone there to take responsibility. Breakfasts were excellent as usual but we went elsewhere for our second dinner. I was embarrassed as I had recommended the food to our friends.
The old world charm of the suite, privacy and central location to good seafood restaurants.
We had room number 2 very nice, tastefully done in the Victorian mode, the bed was comfortable.ate breakfast and dinner in the restaurant, good food, overall an enjoyable stay.
If the room had a frig our stay would have been perfect.
The central location meant that it was easy to walk through the village and to other locations (Baddeck Lobster Supper is a must). If "Cape Breton Smile" is playing during your stay, it is a "must see" to better appreciate the culture and history of Cape Breton.
Charming place to stay near the Cabot Trail. Room was clean and comfortable.
Difficult to get large luggage in and out if staying on the second floor as there are no ramps or elevators only stairs.
Food was only average
From the website, the hotel projects some charm which is not born out in reality.
Food in restaurant awful, overpriced and served by disinterested staff.
Furnishings inferior quality. Rooms did not have coffee available. Comparatively priced accommodations offer breakfast.
Location was excellent. We parked the car and walked everywhere.
We put four adults in the room. It was a bit tight.
The service was prompt when we arrived and we were checked in quickly, however it seemed a bit odd that an inn of this size would use one main desk to pay, check in/out and also act as the cash for the restaurant. If it had been an earlier time of day or busier time of year, this would have be quite a long wait. The room was well appointed. Staff was friendly.
The carpets are in desperate need of replacement, they made what could have been a cheery room into a rather dull somewhat musty one (we opened windows and it improved) and there were very few extra's in the room. We traveled on motorcycle and were unprepared to not have shampoo and conditioner in the shower (it's the little things), there were very few items in the bathroom to help us out and it also took us a while to find the hairdryer that was located in a drawer outside the bathroom. Also, in this day and age it would be wise to replace the lamps with lamps that have plugs in the base. There are limited plugs near the two queen beds and we were travelling with a total of four devices that required charging and it would have been nice to not have to spread them out all over the room. The restaurant closed at 9:00 and I understand this was the last long weekend of the summer we arrived at 8:15 to find out we would have to go elsewhere to eat, not too far away but I think in the last big weekend before the end of summer they could have kept the kitchen open even another half hour.
