it was clean and the bathroom was okay the staff was really nice breakfast included
Wi-fi wasn't that strong in my room stairs were narrow
Big room, clean, with all you need for a pleasant stay. Close to downtown (you can reach it walking or you can use the tram which stops very close). There are a lot of public and private places where you can park your car, but you can also park just by the hotel for a fair price (you can not park for free in any place in Toronto).
The road walking to downtown is safe but if you are one of those who judge people by their appearance you could feel a little uncomfortable at night.
A simple place to "crash" for the night, or in my case three, next to a tramway stop (Ontario on the Dundas line). The bed was comfortable and the room was ok, Staff was nice enough. The windows where small and high, but they were there just for the sun light, because my room was on the first floor, Dundas side, so no one would snoop in.
There is no place to put away your clothings, no phone book. The continental breakfast was limites; one kind of cereal, not real orange juice, just margarine and strawberry jam for your toast and no yogurt.
my room was ideal and the bed was very comfortable, being a b and b i wasn't sure of the quality but i was pleasantly surprised. the ensuite bathroom was great too (another surprise because i thought i had booked a shared bathroom!) staff were helpful too, they helped with my excursions.
the breakfast was limited but better than nothing.
breakfast kindness and helpfulness of the staff comfort of the bed
the environment is a bit dangerous during the night (be careful while coming back to the hotel)
Location, price, cleanliness, wifi
Air con could do with some updating. Very loud! Continental Breakfast could have had a few more choices. Also, quite confined space/lack of seats
Clean room, friendly and helpful staff.
Somewhat limited choice with breakfast. Limited room to sit down for eating.
I only stayed for one night, so I really can't say much. The room was clean, they provided many towels (I hate when they only leave like 2, some people just need more than that), toiletries, etc. The bed was super comfortable and lovely. Breakfast was included but I had plans, so I didn't have anything, but it looked quite nice.
The only complaint I have is that the Wifi worked on and off, so you couldn't trust it. My data was off because I don't live in Canada, and needed the wifi to be in touch with family and friends. I didn't say anything about this at the front desk, I think it's fair to say this. And I stayed for so little time, it didn't really matter that much. People complain about the location. When I got there at night, I did by taxi, so I don't know. I'd say if you're with other people, you're safe. It wasn't as bad as I see in some comments.
Good for this price in downtown.
Great value, no frills, straightforward, walking distance to main downtown Toronto area
Not located in necessarily the best neighborhood, might have seen Rob Ford on my way downtown
The hotel was clean and service was great. At first we were not sure about the area, even after reading all the other reviews, but it was so quite !!! Bus was right outside the door. Day passes in Toronto, on the wkend just 11.00 , allowed us to use transit all day, anywhere in the city! Would go back in a heartbeat.
Nothing bad to say. For anyone that isnt planning on staying in the room all day, this was a great place to stay.
Parking was close, not too far from downtown.
Close to downtown Toronto
$10 per day charge to park on the street outside - this was charged by the Royal Oak and not the City Council
Well renovated. Good location, walking distance to Toronto downtown. Surprisingly quite in not so good neighborhood and streetcar running under the window.
Breakfast was mean, juice was perhaps a lemonade made from powder. You have to ask for a receipt after payment.
I should have known from the minute I stepped in this hotel that my stay there would be lackluster. It took me thirty minutes of bell ringing and of waiting at the reception before an employee acknowledged my presence. The room was not cleaned well and the tables were still sticky and crummy. The floor still had dust and crumbs in the corners. The bedding were clean but stained with rust and black spots. The bathroom was far from spotless too. The wifi was unreliable and the internet connection was slow. As for the free breakfast, well I can't comment on it, since I didn't exactly feel like eating completely green bananas and drink burnt coffee.
No one clean my room for two days weak WIFI signal. never worked. No clothed or dresser Room smells like bleach sticky floor people ask for money right at the front door. Spend extra $50 or less to get better hotel. otherwise you gonna spend the money you saved on cleaning supplies and fresh towels
Clean Redone nicely Extremely friendly and nice staff Accomodating and helpful
Area is a bit off beaten path, but good restaurant across street!
I didn't like it much, but then again it was cheap. I guess you get what you pay for.
The breakfast is really just a joke. There is even no proper room to sit. They also have a ridiculous idea of blocking additional 100$ on your credit card "in case you break something". Really???
Excellent location, helpful staff.
WiFi a bit hit and miss...
Clean, as expected on the pictures, good bed, hair dryer.
Free breakfast small Small room for breakfast (4 people max) Location of the hotel : the street is dangerous, with a lot homeless. NOT RECOMMENDED for woman alone by night.
helpful staff nice rooms good location easy transportation
no elevator bad internet poor breakfast dinning room very small
The location. The cost. The polite staff. Near public transportation
I heard a mouse in the wall, and it was never addressed. When I complained the young man at the desk asked me if I was referring to the computer mouse. When I clarified that I was talking about a mouse with four legs he only said politely, “We don’t have mice.” The comforter was stained.
There was a lot I liked. Clean bed, fresh towel, varied breakfast, clean sheets. The staff were friendly and helped me many times. Would definitely stay here again. Very reasonable prices. 9/10
The only issue I had was the WiFi which was sometimes slow. Also, a bit more variation with breakfast would be nice but that's my personal taste.
