Location, style, clean
Parking not included in price, water pressure low in shower
The ambience of our room was good, with smart modern decor. It was very well located for mini mart, for tasty quick meals and walking distance to shops, lovely restaurants and the waterfront.
The outlook from our room was uninspiring and the coffee machine malfunctioned, but overall it was great value for money and a most enjoyable stay!
Location was great, rooms were clean hotel was clean!
Size of room
location and everything
Clean, well appointed room, very helpful staff, great wifi, and walking vicinity most places. Helpful advise on what to do and how to get there.
Hotel has it's own parking lot so safe. The room was comfortable and spacious with great shower.
Location was close to downtown and night clubs so got noisy around 3 am
Inexpensive parking for downtown Vancouver, helpful staff, location, modern decor.
We didn't have a real problem, but as we were falling asleep at 1am we could hear a moderately loud conversation in the hallway as if it were in the same room. Also, people walking on the floor above us was LOUD in the morning. They could use some soundproofing. We got lucky and it didn't disturb us too much. I could see this being an issue if you had the wrong neighbors. Your room choices are also either facing the street (loud drunk people) or the back of the building (loud mechanical HVAC drone). Noise is an issue here.
perfect and helpfull reseptıon clean room HGTV
Clean, friendly, bed was comfortable.
Looked better in pictures. Room very minimal. Comforter, towels, carpet look kind of worn out. Felt kind of dark and cramped, but that's what you get with an old hotel.
The staff was very helpful and pleasant, we had breakfast at the restaurant it was delicious! The wine bar was very convenient for a nice break in the afternoon.
At first when you arrive ,not sure if you made the right choice ,because things are not as flashy as on the internet site, once you settle in, get to restaurant ,see how the staff is focused on helping you have the best visit in Vancouver, you know that you are in a good place.
Not clean Cheap place I rate the hotel as one star only NOT three
Suite was fabulous Beautiful bathroom Location is great for shopping
Beautiful shower but is getting mold at bottom Noise from across the street Needs tea towels in kitchen
Clean, convenient, friendly staff
Air conditioning settings annoying - came on in middle of night. Some outside machine noise at night, not as bad as traffic noise in other areas of town.
Good location, nice employees, room with good size.
The noise of the street.
Central location Great staff
Leaking air conditioner The fact checkout time is 11 but the hotel brunch is closed at 11?? Why not maximize their customer service by matching checkout times to when people would like to eat?
Wifi Location Staff
Air con was not great, did not really cool the room down!
Noise from the street outside on all three nights I stayed. Kept awake by people walking the streets after being at the bars until the small hours! Some staff appeared impatient and almost annoyed by simple questions.
Location Keurig Coffee Maker in room Mini-Fridge (not a bar) Helpful, Polite Staff Stowed Luggage prior and post check-out No bed bugs! Large safe (could store 15" laptop)
Lacking Necessary Maintenance Asked to not use elevator, despite being in working order and having a room on the top floor Slow elevator Was informed we could print concert tickets at hotel, no charge. Outdated computers, lack of know-how prevented staff from doing so Elevator floor missing tiles Hallway had an odd smell Quality of workmanship (bad painting patches over old stains) Stains on the walls Dirt on the baseboards Gouges, Scratches, Scuffs and Marks on all corners in room, including walls, baseboards and furniture Only two, awkwardly placed and already overloaded outlets in the room Outlets controlled by wall switch No overhead lighting Dark Room Noisy walls - pipes clanging in the middle of the night Stained grout in shower/tub surround Given too few towels No drawers for clothing storage A/C broke during our stay Bathroom paint colour (a shade of brown, that reminds you of what you are doing in the bathroom) Hard Bed Rough sheets Plastic covered pillows No luggage rack (placing luggage on floor/bed can cause fabric covered luggage to pick up bed bugs) Iron had all settings/markings rubbed off and couldn't reach proper temperature to make steam Ice machine on 3rd Floor Shower had low water pressure
Location is the best aspect
No movies to rent, small room, very basic for the price
The staff and the restaurant and the location!
The bed could have been a bit bigger!
I booked well in advance and got a fair deal without having to put down a deposit. They also have a generous cancellation policy which allowed me to lock in the price while exploring other options. All the staff members were pleasant, friendly, and more than helpful in answering my questions or concerns. Very reasonable price considering what Vancouver hotel prices can run in the height of tourist season. Convenient local to local conference, and lots of quick dining in the area. Reasonable parking fees, close to hotel, and in a card controlled gated parking lot. I was allowed to check in a little early and late check out at no extra charge - thanks! Free unlimited phone calls to North America anytime - never stayed in a hotel before that offered such a service. Room had an iron and board which was handy as well as a room safe which can hold a laptop - handy feature. Would stay again if I'm in the area and I'm able to book well in advance to get the great rate I received.
1) Internet was painfully slow on several occasions. Was repeated dropped from that internet channel. I had to contact the front desk for a password to access an alternate wifi channel. This one worked pretty fast. 2) Room was a little poorer quality than I had expected based on the web photos - paint peeling, dents in furniture - I suspect I got that particular room since I wasn't a guest paying top dollar; fair enough. 3) Room was noisy on the Friday night due to the bar downstairs. I'm a heavy sleeper so it didn't bother me but other guests might not be as forgiving. 4) Phone jack kept unplugging or the phone would freeze. After trying about 10 times to reset it, I gave up and the front desk clerk came up. He did exactly what I did and got it to work. Later the phone froze up again, and I had to play with it many times to reset the phone until it would finally work. 5) I couldn't find a thermostat for the in room fridge which kept food and beverages warmer than I liked. 6) When I went to leave the hotel on my final day, I was a little shocked that I couldn't check out until house cleaning checked for room damages first??? (but they had my cc on file anyways). Yet, people 'check out' of hotels by just leaving without going to the front desk - didn't make any sense to me why I would be forced to wait until cleared for departure...
The location right down town was terrific.
It was very warm that weekend and the A/C did not work. However they did try to fix it and eventually put in a temporary portable unit with a hose vent out the window. This made it quite noisy.
Hotel was in a good location for Downtown Vancouver and was close to shops and places to eat. Wifi worked well also. Rooms were clean.
Bed was fairly uncomfortable (hard) and our room was right above the extraction fans for the bar and restaurant downstairs so was fairly noisy. Fairly expensive considering facilities however cheaper then most other hotels in area.
This very much a great boutique hotel. Easy access to everywhere. Staff great, the bar was great, you could eat there as. Well. Good food. Bar staff a lot of fun. We would most definately stay again Oz down under
