Clean . Very nice size , great view of marina and Newcastle Is. . Nice Balcony . Very modern with superb stainless kitchen and lovely granite like counters and quartz tile floor throughout - beautiful with open layout - lovely electric fire place unit . this place is eAsily 700 sq feet. 2 Flat screen TV's . One of the nicest
Not like a typical Hotel that has services available such as room service, restaurant and pool but we knew this when booking and didn't care if we could have a really nice clean room - its a very nice condo suite with a spa service available. There is however a Restaurant "Bayshore" affiliated to the condo that is next door ( 15% off for guests of Marinaside) that is apparently good according to a local person I talked to. - couldnt find any Linen for the pull out sleeper sofa advertized - we were too late to inquire with fellow in lobby as it closes at 11 pm. - no area at entrance of condo to hang coats etc - only place is in bedroom closet . That closet is huge though!
newer, well finished room, clearly trying to be high quality
size of room - very small very noisy road with lots of traffic motel style, enter room directly from outside, but you share a common door which leads to more noise
back room great view of the marina and the float planes coming and goings
fighting in one room thought management could have reacted to the rowdy guest for the peace of mind of the other guests
When you receive more for what you pay it makes the day. The wow factor is what you will receive. Stayed in the queen suite with kitchen. What was one of the pluses is that it also had a washer and dryer in the room. We were greeted with the television tuned into the Spa music station when we opened the door. Security is good. There is a locking door that leads into a foyer before you get into your room. Furniture is arranged so you do not feel squeezed. The balcony has two french doors that open to a great view of the marina. The bedroom has a large glass window from your knees to the ceiling. There is a fireplace that adds to the cozy feel. Dishwasher was good to have. Provided was one dish detergent. In comparison to other resorts, we wished we stayed here and would of driven the extra minutes to go back and forth to our other destinations with the quality and what was provided.
Would like a sponge and dish soap for small dish washing. When leaving the room for the first time, the handle to the inner door came off. In addition, the handle to the hot water in the bathroom sink also came off. One way to cool off the room is to open the french doors, but since there are no screens, bugs could come in. Got rid of a fly by swinging a towel around till it flew out. Perhaps if there was a fly swatter, but then… it can be seen as gross… if it was kept under the kitchen sink I suppose. Hmmm… perhaps something that could get rid of bugs.. an ultraviolet light or fruit fly trap.. but again.. that is seen as gross. The heating cooling system is loud. It was on a timer, but having a quiet system would be better. Couldn't go to sleep with the noise, but once the room was cool, we turned it off and fell asleep. Best to turn the conditioner on while you go out to dinner. Running the conditioner in the other room at least would cut down on the noise level, but then you have to keep the bedroom door open to let the cool air in.
The guy (sorry can't remember his name)on the night desk was awesome. Simply the best. We were running abit late and he stayed on shift and waited for us to check in. He is one of the most polite and happiest people we meet on our four week holiday. Very cool. Thx very much to him for sure. Cheers
The presidential sweet was beautiful, spacious and well worth the money. The staff were awesome. Both rooms were very clean. The decor was modern in both rooms.
The basic suite was cramped. The air conditioner, which had to be on or the room got way too warm, was right beside the head of the bed. I moved out of this room after two poor nights of sleep.
Very clean, obvious effort to provide comfort and peace of mind. Love the provided robes and slippers. Friendly and accommodating staff.
A little dark in bathroom. Regular keys are a bit tedious. Needs a microwave at least or some sort of food heating source. Very loud air conditioner.
the view is fantastic from great balconies to just sit and relax. nice harbor on water side
internet cuts in and out. no business set up (fax, printer, etc.)
Loved the room...the view from the balcony was gorgeous & the suit was the perfect size for our group of 5. The service was amazing - very polite & helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone staying in Nanaimo.
We had ate at the restaurant in the marina, and we were pretty disappointed. Our chicken was undercooked & cold - happened twice, until we gave up and ordered fries. They did take care of one of our bills and were apoplectic. Unfortunately it just wasn't a great experience for us.
This place is poorly converted apartments. Portable very nosiy airconditioners... Glass doors to a hotle room? Where is the fire safety certificate... Do not be fooled by pictures I was
Lovely condo/hotel in an excellent location on the marina in Nanaimo. Suite was spacious, very clean, marble floors, granite counter tops, stove, fridge and microwave. Bed was very comfortable and lots of storage in room and very large closet. Thick, beautiful housecoats and slippers were a nice touch. Perfect location, nice restaurant 150 feet from hotel right beside the marina, hotel offered 15% off food from this restaurant which also does take out. Great place to stay for 2 people.
The two floor air conditioning units were very loud and the rooms got very hot without them being on. The kitchen could use more utensils and dishes. There was only 1 place setting for four people, 2 drinking glasses and no wine glasses. Patio table and chairs would have been nice, as decks on either side of us had some. Silverware was also sparse. The pull out sofa has definitely seen better days and was not comfortable to sit on or to sleep on. Dining room chairs are also in need of replacing.
Front desk person was excellent (had several interactions with him during the course if our stay), fashionable unit, nice view
Air conditioning units had a hose that kept coming off the unit, blowing hot air into the room (one did so all night. Woke up in a sauna)
location near ferry
checked in at 6pm and had to wait until 8pm to get our room. The air conditioning was not working and blowing hot air. we had 29 degrees in our family suite. The room was not even cleaned up properly. Out of 12 hotels visited this summer in our trip to British Columbia, this one is by far the worst.
Cleanliness, comfort and service
Room is small
Overall good experience. I would reconmend this hotel to all my friends.
Information was not readily availlable. You have to ask for it. No one answers in housekeeping. But still, we enjoyed our stay.
Bed was comfortable
The room they tried to give was no view and not even a 10x10 evidently this is the room you get online, I paid for the room prior to looking and would not give me my money back 5 min after I paid, not impressed, they upgraded me for 50.00 The coffee machine did not work and the sofa was the most uncomfortable sofa I have ever sat on! Deck chairs were cheap fold up camping chairs, with a old small chair, not impressed would never stay there again!
No pool. No view. Too small a room. Cramped. Shared entry. Slow elevator
Very clean and modern. Staff very professional and helpful too.
Room lacked. Even a chair to sit on while putting socks or shoes on would have been nice.
Size of room and no key card, everything was using standard keys to get in and out. Felt a bit unsafe.
Location; price; Bed was comfy. Key return box.
Very small room; zero air circulation. Outdated and noisy A/C unit; noise from street. Would not stay here more than one night.
High-end furnishings; the room, towels & bedding smelled super-clean; nice bathroom; secure parking
The location was slightly out-of-the way, but it was a great walk (25 minutes) along the waterfront pathway to town on a sunny day (not so nice if the weather is bad); the room was unbelievably small without anywhere to sit except the bed; the view, while overlooking the water, also overlooked a boat repair facility that had people living on their boats in a parking lot right outside the window
Staff Bed comfort
-room too small for two people - couldn't have two people walking around at the same time - stayed at 19 hotels in Europe recently, this property is (a) smallest and (b) least functional - no desk - no chair - no suitcase rack - no fan - no blackout curtains - no water view - bathroom mirror light too weak - definitely not a "resort' - no amenities - no pool - no gym - took manager 1/2 hour to get TV working - TV black and white picture only. - lousy portable A/C unit too loud to sleep This property would need several improvements to get up to the level of 'adequate'.
The room was tiny , the air conditioning was so loud we were up all night and the TV didnt work ..
