My boyfriend and I stayed for 2 nights in a king suite. I can't say enough about it. The location was great for us as we didn't want to stay right in the centre of town, it was quiet but close enough to walk anywhere you wanted to go. The kitchen was perfectly set up and stocked, the king bed in it's own room was wonderfully comfortable and clean. The living room was great with 2 comfortable leather armchairs looking out onto the balcony. The balcony itself was a good size and we had coffee in the morning looking onto the water and at night watching the sun go down. The hotel also has it's own whale tour set up and I have to say our captain, Jeff, was fantastic. He was friendly, made everyone feel welcome and offered up a lot of knowledge on the area and the wildlife. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in Tofino and we will certainly book again
The place was spotless. The staff was very friendly. Price was modest. Good value.
Lacking in a few amenities and a little further from downtown than I would have like.
The size, location, and convenience of the motel was fantastic! Will definitely be booking it in the future
We were in the top corner and the wifi cut in and out
The Mayfair was very clean, the staff most helpful, and the facilities were complete for a month stay, if one was coming to Victoria for long term. It was actually an apartment with full kitchen facilities, eating area etc. Everything in the place looked new, and was certainly spotless.
very clean; roomy, convenient location from the galloping goose trail for cyclists; organic grocery store 2 - 3 blocks away.
a bit too close to a busy street but noise goes down after dark.
This hotel is very clean and well maintained. Not fancy or modern but great just the same. In a good location; close to downtown and across the street from Mayfair mall. Price is very reasonable and we will definitely be returning.
Bed was a bit hard...but then again I like them on the softer side.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable. We will definitely be staying here again
Location was nice. Room was updated and clean.
parking was a challenge. Beds were not the most comfortable but adequate for one night stay.
bathroom, kitchen renovated, everything clean and comfortable. The registration desk lady was very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. I would come back and recommend this place.
The kitchen would be more useful to us with a normal coffee machine and a toaster.
Impeccably clean with extra large rooms. Well maintained and recently renovated. The practical side of the 50's for decor.
Had a huge walk-in closet. Had a large fridge and a freezer! was in an awesome location, just a 10$ cab to the city centre Booked only 4 days before trip!
the sink was a bit small. Not much else
Convenient location near a large mall, just a short easy bus ride from downtown, large clean room with kitchen, comfortable bed and couch, nice staff. I will stay there again.
A small family style motel.
White single-layer window covering makes the room bright at 5:00 AM. The stove is for monthly guests only regardless how much you want to pay- hidden behind the claims on booking.com. Some lights cannot be used, apparently due to the cutoff of the power. Two bulbs were not installed. Moreover, a staff yielded at me about the stove.
coffee machine didn"t work
The room was clean, and had a good kitchen.
There is no air conditioning so we had to leave the window open; so it was a bit noisy. It is an old building so you could hear people walking above your room, and people talking in the hallways.
No breakfast and kitchen is not available for use.
Ultra clean room, bathroom, kitchen; well maintained; helpful owners/staff. Great value.
Not impressive exterior but the ultra cleanliness made up for it.
Free high quality coffee in the room
We booked with booking.com. Booking.com has done a GOOD job even now they send a reminder. I like it! We booked the family suite with 2 double beds and a pull-out sofa for a reasonable rate of $140 +tax/ day. The pros: It's in a quiet location. The room was newly renovated with a basic layout, and everything was clean. It looked similar to a bachelor apartment style. The two double beds were nice to sleep on. The owner/ manager was helpful and talkative. The motel is not too far from Wall Mart, Tim Horton's, and KFC.
The cons The 3rd floor WiFi connection was a little bit of a hit and miss. The pull-out sofa was not good (it was sunk in the middle), and my nephew hardly slept. I would rate this motel a 4 for its value if they hadn't invaded my privacy in the morning one day. My family was out, and the manager didn't know that I stayed behind so after one knock, he opened the door. Hmm ....hmm... of course, he was surprised. I told him that I only needed a few items from him. Instead of just handing me those items and leaving, the two cleaning ladies behind him just dashed to clean up the garbage (or possibly snooping?). I even told them "no cleaning" before they began! Additionally, they automatically turned off the lights which I had left on. It was none of their business anyway!
It was very clean, and price was moderate. It's an old motel probably recently renovated. A good choice for staying overnight.
Walls are freshly painted, bathroom has new toiletries, and it's overall very clean and looked after. But they kept old furniture and cabinets which give an unattractive look to the room. Floors are squeaky if the guest above doesn't walk softly.
Noise from people walking from floor above.
Clean, comfortable & helpful

Spacious clean room
Lacked a few extras
Front desk really friendly.
The room was smell...the kitchen theres no pot or any cuttleries and the fridge its really stinky the hallway its too smell.
Don't judge the Mayfair by its exterior. While the building is older and is not highly decorated inside, it is in excellent repair andI found my room and the hallways spotless. I appreciated that the recently painted bright white walls had no garish wallpaper hiding years of grime. I only stayed one night so I can't comment on ongoing room service. Other reviews complained about the lack of free breakfast but seriously? For the budget price you pay at the Mayfair, you can go next door to Starbucks and still be ahead of pricier places. Victoria hotels are $$$ Clean commercial grade carpets (no patterns hiding years of filth). Towels, bedding, etc spotless--in fact, it smelled as though the room had been dry cleaned! The hotel is 5-10 min from downtown so not really walkable but I wanted a place central to greater Victoria: perfect! Many cheap eateries and a large mall nearby.
The couch provided in the room was under stuffed (cheaper Ikea job) but I never had a couch in a hotel room before and didn't stay long enough to care. Again, this a budget hotel.
