Score from 27 reviews Very good
We arrived late from the ferry and the staff were about and friendly and helpful, We had an oddly shaped private double. Fine for one nights sleep, but probably not for longer unless you are a carefree backpacker. There are lots of brightly painted murals on the walls.
There was a man asleep in the room we were meant to be in (I imagine that was a one off) he was ejected from the hostel and we were given a different room. Our new room had a second door for some reason which I couldn't get to lock (this may be my own ineptitude, but after the first inccident it didn't make us feel that safe)
Staffs are very kind, especially for the people arrive late at night on the ferry, they were open until 1am or later. Also this hostel was one of the cleanest and special backpacker's I have ever stayed over the years of traveling. Kitchen and washrooms were all pleasant to use. You can tell the staffs are generous when you can get fresh clean towels every day. Thank you!

Excellent communal facilities, including lovely new bathroom. Quiet place 15 min drive to ferry terminal.
No ac but windows open wide.
The privacy they offer the kitchen use the prices are perfect for low income
Staff went out of their way to provide help and assistance. Couldn't imagine nicer folks and so helpful and understanding to travelers.
A simple, clean, affordable accommodation. Has everything you need. The best part it the absolutely amazing, kind, generous hosts! They are the best!
Nice accomadation and really like the set up there . There were a many of rooms and shares bathrooms . Clean , accessible , very friendly staff ... I would stay there again we had our own Bedroom though !
All was good
Got upgraded to the owners B&B - very comfortable and friendly owner. Don't know what the backpackers was like as we didn't stay there .
In spite of a late arrival of the ferry the lady waited and made the checking-in easy
The comfort is minimal
Low price, ok staff, coffee shop
pillow was smelly, room not too clean, not a nice atmosphere
- the spacious Orca suite is fantastic value for money - comfortable bed & very good shower - Rob & Anne are the friendliest & most helpful hosts you could hope for
The kitchen was huge and well appointed. The location was excellent and the cafe attached was open at 5am to make us coffee before getting on the ferry to Prince Rupert. Good for one night stay.
The woman in reception was rattled as she'd just had 30 people arrive so she wasn't very attentive. The room had an inside window which looked out onto the lounge room - we could hear the TV and people talking at night.
I found it abit expensive.
staff was waiting for our late arrival from the ferry
helpful staff, good kitchen facilities, comfortable bed, great value for money, flexibility of reservations, good location, secure lockup for my motorcycle, cleanliness of facilities.
Very home-like atmosphere. Spacious gathering area and kitchen. Great place to stay.
First of all the location is great. Right in the centre of town, close to the water....you can even see the ocean from the hostel. It is in a walk-in distance from everything. The rooms, common areas and bathrooms are very clean, very spacios and nicely furnished. I absolutely loved the bathrooms which were very clean and modern. And the kitchen even has a dishwasher! The walls are beautifully painted and the space everywhere is fantastic. You don't feel cramped at all in any area of this hostel. The best though was the warm hospitality of Anna and Rob, the owners. Both of them are very friendly, welcoming, kind and super helpful. They constantly went out of their way to help with whatever anybody needed....being it a great advise of certain activity, getting up at 4am to make us a coffee, giving some ingredients for cooking or simply just being a nice company. They do care a lot about the hostel and us, travellers, and it shows. It is a great hostel that I definitely recommend and I'll be coming back.
The North Coast Backpackers Hostel was the perfect place to stay for our one night wait for the BC Ferry to Prince Rupert. It is located one block from the Greyhound Bus stop. The owner was welcoming and accommodating. When she saw that I was traveling with my teenage son, she offered to bring up an extra mattress and bedding at no extra charge. in the morning we were offered coffee, tea and hot chocolate as we waited for our 5AM shuttle to the ferry. It was all just right.
First time stay in a hostel so wasn't sure what to expect. I think this one may have spoiled me for any future stays. Stephen was awesome at the desk and gave me a full tour of the place. Not many people here so it was quiet and very spacious. Will definitely be back!
fantastic helpful staff, very comfortable and clean good facility for a home away from home clean linen good cooking facility clean bathrooms
very poor internet service the only down fall in the facility
Free Wifi, Full kitchen, DvD selection, Easy going staff, random discount when checking in just because they were feeling nice..
Pillows were a bit lumpy. Beds are futon mattresses.
We enjoyed the place as it was quiet -comfortable .It had what we needed there and we would recommend it
Nice, clean, simply furnished room with modern, ensuite bathroom. Awesome british breakfast downstairs in the coffeeshop, that belongs to the place. Great assistance provided for getting hold of on of the rare local taxis (thanks Rob!). In total: Excellent value, serendipity!
