Score from 300 reviews Wonderful
The location of the hotel is near downtown and have a very fast transport system. The public place is very clean, everyone here like a family.
The Novel Stay was well positioned for walking to the waterfront and other interesting areas of Halifax, or catching a bus to more distant places such as the burial grounds of Titanic victims. I liked the building itself and the facilities. The management people were most helpful to me when I needed assistance.
There was a slight inconvenience in the office being in a different building and the management not always being there.
Location was good. You also get given free tokens for the laundrette too.
The rooms look alot nicer in the pictures than they do when you are there. Our bed was only about a foot above the ground which also isn't reflected in the pictures and given that we both have bad backs wasn't ideal for us. There were hairs in the bed and on the floor from previous occupants. We felt itchy the whole time we were in the room and I was bitten on the side of my head overnight which resulted in a golfball size lump on my temple. The shared bathrooms weren't cleaned often enough either. It states they are cleaned once a week however this should be done a lot more frequently considering how many people use the facilities. Our key was supposed to allow us access both in and out of the laundrette, however it didn't resulting in us having to leave through the back entrance and walking round the block in order to get back in to the accomodation.
Location was great Can't beat the price
- Lighting in bathroom was poor for women - No outlet in bathroom - Not enough towels in bathroom - No bathmats - had to use towels - No towels in common bathrooms - No glasses in rooms - Room was very small
Use of a kitchen was great.. Very home like feel..
Guests should monitor their aging food products in the kitchen community fridge... The smell gets quite rank at times...
The inn was clean and quiet. The staff were helpful and friendly. It was nice to have access to a kitchen and laundry. Within walking distance of shopping, restaurants, pubs & attractions. We would definitely stay here again.
The bed was not my favourite, but we weren't there to enjoy the amenities of the inn, but to explore the city.
Fridge Laundry Kitchen Decor Location Price
Coulda changed the sheets once a week
Location - perfect walking distance to downtown attractions Cozy Maritime feel Freedom to come and go Large showers Nice kitchen and seething area
Fruit flies! The hostess - we were not sure of her purpose and she interrupted our down times.
Location was excellent, the room was very clean and the place was quiet, all at an affordable price
location was perfect
Location was great an easy walk to everything downtown and close to shops for groceries etc It was great to have access to a kitchen and living space
The bathroom smelled like urine and the shared fridge was full of food most of which had been left from previous guests to share but something was definitely rotten. Also they changed the door code and didn't notify us until the day we arrived via email which we did not receive before arriving so we were locked out and luckily we're let in by another guest but then also found our room had been changed from our original room on the booking and someone was staying in it. We sorted this out ourselves but was a stressful start
nice spot to stay for a short period. Located in heart of city so accessibility was nice
The 'fire-place' in room #1 looks very dirty! Try to cover it as it is no longer functioning.
Friendly staff and excellent location
Very quiet atmosphere, excellent location near the downtown.
It is very cosy, good location.
No hairdryer available.
It was very comfortable, and centrally located. It is nice to meet others, share the kitchen, eat together. And, it was very quiet.
There were a few small issues with . getting people arriving w/o knowing what room they were to be in, getting keys and the door code. And there was a bit of scrambling to keep the toilet paper supplied in the bathrooms. Noe of the above would argue against recommending Novel Stay or staying there again on another visit.
Wonderful to have kitchen use. Close to university and downtown. I enjoyed socializing with other guests from other countries.
I live the kitchen and plenty of bathrooms. People were very nice and friendly to us. I love your island counter in your kitchen. It's a quiet place which is fine with me.Next time i would really need to stay on first floor, as I have difficulty with stairs, as a result of surgery..
Invest in a kettle that has an automatic shut off.
Awesome location. Friendly host. Nice prices.
I loved that we could wash and dry our clothes for free and that there was a kitchen for cooking.
There was a glass door which separated our room with the washroom. So my partner could watch me sitting on the toilet. That was uncomfortable.
location staff cleanliness comfort
Everything went as expected. I'd stay here again.
The relaxed nature of both the staff and the accommodations.
