We visit quite a few high-end hotels and the obbh certainly rates among the top contenders as a nice place to go. The staff is remarkably pleasant, professional and efficient. We would like to mention the Snug staff - particularly Krista, Amber and Jennifer - as being great girls to have served us on a number of occasions. We never managed to get the names of the front-desk staff but all of them, both in check-in and check- out, were excellent. Spencer at the Bell Desk met us at our car as we drove up, explained how things worked, took our luggage, parked our car and led us to our room in very short order. A good man. We very much like the way the greeting and valet parking works - and it's free! Congratulations to the Walkers for building such a remarkable structure. If it is possible, please pass these comments on to the hotel. Thank you. Dave & Elinor McClimon, Sooke, British Columbia The only thing we felt was less than excellent or very good was the order of fries with our very good fish.

Location, atmosphere, architecture When we arrived rather late (4:40) we checked in and saw they had a buffett. We had planned on having dinner in the dining room that evening anyhow so we had the buffett. It was the most pathetic excuse for a buffett I have ever seen. There wasn't any beef left and there was lettuce and about a cupful of pasta salad. Oh and there were several rolls left. We read the information about the hotel and read that there was a widows walk so we went to the fifth floor to find ongoing construction and no widows walk. It shouldn't be in the information until they finish it. The hotel is grand but I like the feel of the old one. The old grand staircase, etc made it feel like you were in an old english mansion.

Lovely hot mineral pools, nice suites with kitchenettes. The bellhops were extremely friendly and helpful. Not really kid-friendly. Only one high chair in the whole hotel (which has three restaurants), apparently. Hotel (at least our floor/room) wasn't as clean as it should have been. No liners in garbage cans in our room (odd). Bad smell in hallway. Got more information about hotel room amenities/layout from Booking.com than hotel's own website. Hotel website design is poor.

We were able to bring our dog and the room was on the ground level with patio door to lawn. Also very sound proof. The room was beautiful, food was outstanding and great service. nothing
