warm and welcoming front desk staff at check in and out
I usually stay with family when I'm in Courtenay, but circumstances led us to stay in a hotel; this is one I'd wanted to try as I remember when the original Old House restaurant was all alone in this location. The hotel did not disappoint; our room was well-appointed, clean and comfortable. We did have the continental breakfast in the morning, which was exactly what we needed: baked goods, coffee, fresh juices, granola and yogurt. Trays were provided if guests wanted to take items back to their room, but we ate in the room where the breakfast items were laid out. All in all, a comfortable stay, and I'd be happy to stay there again.
Great bargain for lovely facilities in odd but good location. On one side, it's all bridge traffic but on the other, great walk along tidal flats. Restaurant very good, comp breakfast better than many.
Elevator was down when we were rushing to catch ferry. Easy enough walk down but would have appreciated some notice. Three floors UP with luggage would have been another story!
Only one extra blanket for 2 beds
The room was huge, at a very fair price. Staff were great. Would definitely stay there again
There should be a limit of how long you are in the hot tub....waited 2 hours for the same group of ppl to get out. At any rec centre there is always a sign that says maximum hot tub time is 15 min. Other than that the pool was amazing, and when we finally got to use the hot tub it was so relaxing and the scenery was pleasant as well.
outside entrance and very comfy bed
the staff, the hospitality, the facility
The location is central and the room is modern. Pool and hot tub are great. Continental breakfast is nice.
Lots of missing utensils in the kitchen. The noise from the traffic on the bridge is annoying.
General condition, amenities and location. Superb restaurant on site - The Local. We go up to ski and usually stay at the Old House.
I prefer a room where a window can be opened for the night - minor point to be sure.
We come here all seasons. It is a wonderful place in a wonderful area.
My only problem was the Wifi didn't get to my room.
Location Room amenities Hot tub Pool Room was tended to well each day
No towels down by pool several times No creamer in the morning No wifi in the room Firm, small beds. Would prefer two queens - didn't understand why two doubles were chosen.
Hot tub Bathroom - separate tub and shower
Bedding wasn't very warm - I prefer a duvet versus sheets and blanket
Magical pool, large rooms with (finally!) enough table space and chairs and all the kitchen appliances and provisions you could want. For once, we didn't need to use our own cutting board, knives or plates etc. luxurious as well.
Facing the road but not noisy, just not a great view.
Continental breakfast area was not well attended and too small for the number of guests.
spacious, well appointed
The room rate.
We have stayed here a few times and continue to have an enjoyable visit This time we stayed (thanks to an upgrade) at the penthouse suite and really enjoyed it. Thanks We will certainly be back. Also the Old House Restaurant was excellent (as usual!!)
convenient location, size of room, well-equipped kitchen, nice sized and equipped bathroom, good continental breakfast included
no opening window (just a patio door on ground level), had to ask for an extra bathrobe and a hair dryer which should have in the room, the hotel 'manual' had torn pages and somebody's scribbles in the margins, lack of a hand shower, insufficient reading lights
Great room and bed. The 'Heritage Walk' is right out back for a little exercise. One km walk to main shopping and dining streets; a nice stroll.
The wi-fi was a bit spotty on the third floor. I didn't check anywhere else for comparison.
room was nice
cleaning definitely not up to par. I used to be housekeeping supervisor in 5 star hotel and this was poorly cleaned! smudges on mirrors, faucets, tub wall, hair on floor, dirty microwave
I loved the room. It was clean and up to date. It had everything you needed. It was very nice.
The bed was a little hard, but I think I just prefer a softer mattress.
clean, quiet room. well equipped kitchen
Water pressure in shower was quite low and the shower head is high up so it took awhile to rinse shampoo out of long hair. Wifi was spotty. We couldn't connect for long. However we also didn't ask for assistance so it might have been solved if we had.
Free upgrade to a king suite
We liked everything and helpfullness of the front desk staff. The hot tub and pool being open all year round at a great temperature. W& R Nanaimo
We had a fabulous stay and will be back as soon as we can..didn't want to leave!
