excellent location, close to downtown. Although located on a busy street, the room was quiet and comfortable. It may need a bit of updating, but on the other hand, the long wooden sauna-like bench running most of the length of the room does make it unique.
People in next room were a bit noisy, but you have to expect that.
Location, very helpful staff, easy to find, free parking
Access to downtown , friendlyrestuarant
Location Clean Functional Helpful staff
Could have done with better lighting in the bedrooms.
The price was very good. I liked the big clean room, the fact that there was a safe, coffee, fan, TV set, etc... I liked the breakfast, as well.
There was a group of drinking noisy young people on the second floor about 6-8 pm.
in summer but no A/C, you have no idea to cool down this room's temperature! the room just with one window on corridor side......
Location, parking and price.
Very dated, poor lighting in the room but bathroom/sink lighting was good. No air conditioning which was a problem the first night.
Restaurant was good, medium priced.
Weather very warm, only a small ceiling fan . Room did cool down in evening with door ajar, but necessary to keep window open at night.
The location is excellent. Just blocks from Chinatown, and not far from the lovely shops and restaurants of Government St. and the inner harbour. The room was large and comfortable. Quiet and dark for sleeping. Decor is updated, but respecting the heritage of the place.
The room lacked a microwave and safe, but I knew that when I booked. The toilet seemed plugged when we arrived; got worse. I asked for a plunger to be sent. Quick response, but no assistance, nor any inquiry, nor apology. Too few outlets in room, and awkwardly placed (probably a result of the age of the building). As usual in hotels, too few hooks.
Email about a query over the payment has not been answered. Needs updating to be in line with other motels.
Exactly as it looks in the pictures, basic place but was clean and comfortable. Good location to walk to downtown
I liked the first night at Paul's Motor Inn as we found we had a very good sleep and we were comfortable
We didn't like the executive suite we stayed in during the second night as the room didn't smell very nice plus it was very stuffy
My parents were visiting from Australia so I took them and my girlfriend to Victoria for the weekend. Paul's Inn was one of the cheaper options but we were very surprised. The staff were friendly, the rooms were large, clean and quiet for the parents. There was a great diner attached and a cool bar attached round back that the girlfriend and I loved. Easy walk to downtown Vic. Would recommend it to everyone.
Our booking was done incorrectly - I booked on march 30th for our stay check in on August 2. When we arrived they told us we didn't book a room for our dog, we had. The staff at the desk was super unfriendly and unaccomadating. We ended up having to cab our dog to my friends house for the night as the desk girl said we couldn't bring her or we would be charged more but could change rooms the next day. The next morning we called front desk to see what we had to do to change rooms and she said oh don't worry about it I'm not sure why she made such a big deal about it. Then went to take a shower, as you can't sleep in with the paper thin walls you can hear every sound. The shower would go from extreamly hot to freezing cold or the shower head would stop working all together. We told three different staff members a male front desk rep, a female rep and a room attendant. Nothing was done for us. We needed towels we called the front desk and were told to find a room attendant.... To sum it up we paid way more then expected for the worst customer service experience we have ever had. We come to Victoria twice a year to see family and have stayed at Paul's before we love the location - however this experience turned us off big time. Very unhappy guests.
Paul's offered the same high service level in my August 2014 stay, as I had received during an earlier stay in the early 80's! That included an excellent staff, in the hotel and restaurant, great room with computer access.....and a beautiful sleep. Great location too!
That I had to leave!
We had to remind the staff to replace coffee, sugar, etc. every day. We hated bikers with their engines revving for up to 15 minutes at about 11 p.m.
Good location, easy walk to centre. Clean and comfortable. Fine for 1 night.
Very dated/tired rooms and bad decor. No ac but did have 2 fans in room.
Friendly staff, great location, great price!
Room had no air conditioning, and was quite cramped for two adults.
Enjoyed the courtyard room, lovely green space with hanging flowering plants. Quiet space with outdoor seating. Microwave a nice touch.
Large lights around mirror provide very good lighting but produce too much heat, could switch to more energy efficient lighting system.
Dark, smelly, enamel chipped away in the bath, noisy ceiling fan. The receptionist took a $100 deposit for damage and additional charges for any meals!! Once we saw the room there was no way we were going to eat there!!!!
Not much really
The pictures on line show a quaint retro style motel.....really it's just OLD. The most uncomfortable bed ever. No A/C. Horrible shower head with water temperature that fluctuated for no reason from really hot to really cold.... And the naked man peeing off the balcony was the topper. I would not recommend this motel nor visit it again.
Quiet Comfortable bed Roomy
Even though reservation was for two there was only enough towels for one. Just as well, there was no hot water for shower in morning anyways.
room too hot, couldn't control room temperature, there was a fan going all day.
Good, convenient location; friendly staff; Comfortable room
The requirement to pay a 'damage deposit' - refundable.
Beds were clean and comfortable
*No air conditioning *Anti-scald shower head that turns water supply to shower head off without being informed *Cost vs Quality
