Restaurant close and good food with reasonable prices. Parking outside the room close by to unload luggage. Clean rooms , clean bathroom and tub.
Noisy at midnight with camera crew and Bollywood event. If they are coming in late maybe ask them not to stand outside doorways and windows and chat it up very early in the morning..& late at night. But if they are taking up most of the building not much you can do. I will ask not to be right beside the stairway next visit.
Rooms were old style, but clean
Security Privacy Location
Defective clock No A/C Bad bed Hot water time Poor blankets No maid service daily
Very old and run down. The bathtub had huge chips out of it. There are cigarette burns all over the bathroom. Bed very uncomfortable. I think this hotel may have been beautiful 30 years ago but is in desperate need of some updates.
The cafeteria staff were excellent!
Other room users using the seats beside my window/door talking so loudly making too much noise. Replacing the used up toiletries, the coffees and teas in the kitchenette daily was quite a challenge
Room cleanness Bed were big and comfy Room size was huge Safe in the room
Noise from the street in the morning
excellent location, close to downtown. Although located on a busy street, the room was quiet and comfortable. It may need a bit of updating, but on the other hand, the long wooden sauna-like bench running most of the length of the room does make it unique.
People in next room were a bit noisy, but you have to expect that.
Being in the back by itself and not accessible by everyone it was nice and quiet. I like the wood paneling in the room it added to the charm. If memory serves me this is the first time a hotel/motel room has had a hand held shower which I like.
If there was anything to mention it would be that the decaf coffee was instant.
Location, very helpful staff, easy to find, free parking
Very quiet in the courtyard room. So dark when the drapes were closed that I slept in until 8 am!!
Access to downtown , friendlyrestuarant
Location Clean Functional Helpful staff
Could have done with better lighting in the bedrooms.
The price was very good. I liked the big clean room, the fact that there was a safe, coffee, fan, TV set, etc... I liked the breakfast, as well.
There was a group of drinking noisy young people on the second floor about 6-8 pm.
Near Canada postal outlet in Shopper's drug mart. Staff helped me with they cellphone.
in summer but no A/C, you have no idea to cool down this room's temperature! the room just with one window on corridor side......
Location, parking and price.
Very dated, poor lighting in the room but bathroom/sink lighting was good. No air conditioning which was a problem the first night.
Restaurant was good, medium priced.
Weather very warm, only a small ceiling fan . Room did cool down in evening with door ajar, but necessary to keep window open at night.
The location is excellent. Just blocks from Chinatown, and not far from the lovely shops and restaurants of Government St. and the inner harbour. The room was large and comfortable. Quiet and dark for sleeping. Decor is updated, but respecting the heritage of the place.
The room lacked a microwave and safe, but I knew that when I booked. The toilet seemed plugged when we arrived; got worse. I asked for a plunger to be sent. Quick response, but no assistance, nor any inquiry, nor apology. Too few outlets in room, and awkwardly placed (probably a result of the age of the building). As usual in hotels, too few hooks.
Email about a query over the payment has not been answered. Needs updating to be in line with other motels.
Exactly as it looks in the pictures, basic place but was clean and comfortable. Good location to walk to downtown
I liked the first night at Paul's Motor Inn as we found we had a very good sleep and we were comfortable
We didn't like the executive suite we stayed in during the second night as the room didn't smell very nice plus it was very stuffy
My parents were visiting from Australia so I took them and my girlfriend to Victoria for the weekend. Paul's Inn was one of the cheaper options but we were very surprised. The staff were friendly, the rooms were large, clean and quiet for the parents. There was a great diner attached and a cool bar attached round back that the girlfriend and I loved. Easy walk to downtown Vic. Would recommend it to everyone.
Our booking was done incorrectly - I booked on march 30th for our stay check in on August 2. When we arrived they told us we didn't book a room for our dog, we had. The staff at the desk was super unfriendly and unaccomadating. We ended up having to cab our dog to my friends house for the night as the desk girl said we couldn't bring her or we would be charged more but could change rooms the next day. The next morning we called front desk to see what we had to do to change rooms and she said oh don't worry about it I'm not sure why she made such a big deal about it. Then went to take a shower, as you can't sleep in with the paper thin walls you can hear every sound. The shower would go from extreamly hot to freezing cold or the shower head would stop working all together. We told three different staff members a male front desk rep, a female rep and a room attendant. Nothing was done for us. We needed towels we called the front desk and were told to find a room attendant.... To sum it up we paid way more then expected for the worst customer service experience we have ever had. We come to Victoria twice a year to see family and have stayed at Paul's before we love the location - however this experience turned us off big time. Very unhappy guests.
Paul's offered the same high service level in my August 2014 stay, as I had received during an earlier stay in the early 80's! That included an excellent staff, in the hotel and restaurant, great room with computer access.....and a beautiful sleep. Great location too!
That I had to leave!
We had to remind the staff to replace coffee, sugar, etc. every day. We hated bikers with their engines revving for up to 15 minutes at about 11 p.m.
