One got the sense of what the neighborhood was like
Great location and access to lots of restaurants and cafes on Boulevard Saint Laurent and Saint Denis. Excellent not-for-profit restaurant just up the road called Robin des Bois - definitely worth a visit.
The noise from the live music was OK but sleep was more disturbed by noise from people out on the patio at the back at times.
The room was air-conditioned, which was unexpected but welcome as I visited during a heat wave. The location is excellent, and the room was very clean and comfortable. The bed was amazingly comfortable! I didn't have a chance to visit the associated café, but it seemed very funky.
This wasn't a problem for me, but there were two flights of stairs, and quite a rickety old staircase. This would be good for travellers with mobility issues to take into account. Or travellers with very heavy bags! :-)
hard to find considering there was no sign, spent FOREVER looking for parking
Everything was great.
The only thing is that it would have been nice to have access to the kitchen for a little longer in the morning (i.e. past 9 a.m.).
Clean room - clean bathroom. Good stay for the price.
Check-inn. No friendly staff. We arrived at 9 PM. The door was closed. We went to the bar next the rooms. They didn't say a word for 5 minutes. We had to pay cash. In the conditions was clearly said that we could pay with Visa or Master-card. No exception, no cards, cash only. After paying (cash) they became more friendly. We could leave our bags in an ugly basement the next day.
The fact that i arrived early and i got to check in just after i got to montreal. Also the manager did her best to find me some area where to park during day /night. the stay is located in dowtown and its close to everything.
I had to report to the manager that bathroom is plugged when i went to use it, and that must be checked in hourly basis if the hotel has vacancy.
beds very comfortable. Free pass to concert downstairs. Not noisy considering live music and busy street nearby.
Confusing, you need to get your keys at restaurant, no one really helped inform us how to check in. we went up and down the stairs (3 flights) trying to figure this out.
Smell of cooking no ventilation
- Location was good and since I made the reservation the person in charge was very clear and helpful.
- There are many things to improve but it's important to consider the price we paid, it wasn't much. When we got to our room there was garbage in the trash can and, in general, it wasn't very clean. - The WORST thing was that in the 2° floor is the kitchen where they cook the food for the downstairs bar. This kitchen doesn't have a door so we smelled everything they cooked for 3 days, it was DISGUSTING, specially when we got home and all our belongings had the same smell. They really need to do something about it. -At the same time, it said that guests can use the (very smelly) kitchen from 9am to 3pm but the cook never left before 3pm so we couldn't cook lunch.
No place to hang clothes while showering. No presence of staff. Perhaps too many steps on stairs.
Location and price
There is no parking and poor security
cool area. chilled atmosphere. very spacious and clean. saw the real Montreal. amenities close by. locals friendly. public transport easy.
kitchen could have done with a few more utensils ! noise from bar downstairs in back rooms.
They had a tassimmo coffee maker UN the room, an air conditioner, and the shower was clean. We didn't have a problem with noise, and we went to the live music one night that they give you a free pass to and it was really good. The food at the cafe downstairs was also very good, even though it is vegetarian.
Very basic but clean. Access to kitchen and towels provided. Good shower.
Very very noisy. There is a bar and club downstairs which goes on til 3am every night. No double blazing and beds are not that comfortable. You will not get a good night's sleep if you are a lite sleeper.
Location was great. Liked being able to go downstairs to the club and enjoy the entertainment.
Really cheap, fairly convenient to the bars on St. Laurent, lots of space, quirky decor
Beds weren't particularly comfortable, it was pretty warm in the apartment and there's no AC
The room was clean. The noise from the bar downstairs was not a problem, as promised. I was grateful to have coffee in my room, and enjoyed the urban surroundings. Overall, good value for the money.
I had my elderly father with me. He was uncomfortable, at first, with the urban surroundings and struggled with the two flights of stairs. Additionally, parking is on the street, which I found stressful; watch out for the no parking signs.
great location, friendly staff, nice to have kitchen access, good food at restaurant downstairs.
travel light as the stairs are narrow and winding
