all of nice
We liked being greeted by Geoffrey in the morning. The breakfasts we ample and satisfying. We liked the location. Close to everything and in the gritty neighbourhood of Cabbagetown. The place does have a lot of character.
the place is unbelievably cluttered with old stuff which is rarely dusted or cleaned. We were reluctant to touch surfaces such as light switches. The bedding should have been replaced long ago. We stayed 5 days and the bed was never made up or changed. No one came into the room to do anything for the entire 5 days. The bathroom was cleaned, though.
Absolutely great place with unique charm. Perfect place for a couple. The best english breakfast ever (especially bacon!). Loved that we had patio so we could smoke. Owners were super friendly and helpful. We loved the place and we'll definitely come again. I strongly recommend!
Good location Fine personal
Our room (library) was too dark no space for clothes
The room was comfortable and the price was reasonable.
The house was extremely overcrowded with antiques and seemed a bit much. The worst part was being yelled at by the owner. He normally serves breakfast between 9&11. When he realized I needed to leave before 9 he grudgingly agreed to fix something for me. The next morning he was very irritable while fixing my breakfast of poached eggs and bacon. He ended up burning himself and started screaming. Then he came to where I was sitting in another room (so I could use the WiFi which didn't work in my room) and started yelling at me that he could not do this. He was very angry and kept yelling at me that he would not fix breakfast this early at 8:30. That breakfast was between 9&11. He yelled at me and said he burned his hand I said I was sorry and he said "I'm sure you are" very sarcastically. I told him I would leave then and he said "Good!". So I left without another word from him. I'm sure this is not the way he is all the time otherwise he wouldn't have a business. He obviously isn't a morning person which is sad since he chose to run a b&b.
Kind of a unique place. Lovely if you are a couple. It certainly isn't your average b&b, just like the owner isn't the average owner of a b&b. Highly reccomended for a couple that is willing to trade some comfort for something highly original.
We were there for five nights and the room was never cleaned.
Neighborhood was full of Victorian houses. Near to trolley. Staff was friendly.
The whole house and patio was cluttered with antiques. The house was not in good repair. The wallpaper in bathroom was split in many places and peeling. It was dark and dingy.
Perfect for the traveller who wants a cosy, funny, somewhat eccentric Bed & Breakfast experience. We got the whole upper floor with bedroom, steep stairway, big bathroom and our own small terrace. Walls covered with artful paintings, different kinds of collector's items in the corners and lots of books that we unfortunately had no time to read. Cat and dog and informal, although typically English, host made us feel welcome. Excellent food.
Situated in what seems like a "dodgy area" with homeless people in the streets, but no direct problems for us.
