Price Location Staff
Rooms could be updated A/C was not the best
No where to park!! No parking lot. Did not make up the room, staff shortage? The place is old and not maintained. Got plenty of soap but no towels. Said they take Amer. EX card, they do not! No radio, coffee maker or ice bucket.
Dirty rugs Poorly kept washroom No decor
Location. Very close to the start/finish of the Grand Prix Cycliste de Montreal, restaurants, and bars.
Breakfast wasn't very good. Poor selection and no juice. Having to walk up to the fifth floor carrying a bike and bags.
The location is great and the owner is very pleasant and helpful.
We booked the room with no advanced notice and expected an elevated price. However, charging $270+ tax for accommodations like that is absolutely unreasonable: rugs are not clean, windows don't open, noisy, breakfast is poor, slow internet, and no other amenities at all.
Dirty, filthy, discusting everything broken even bed change price even though booked at other price staff don't care breakfast terrible on booking.com its a 3 star, on the hotel door its a 2 star...it is a -10 star believe every bad review you read about this place Don't stay here, we are sorry we did
Cheap and clean. Good location.
No elevator. Noisy Air conditioner.
Great location, decent room, seemed clean.
Terrible wifi, bedroom smelled like a hamster cage.
The location was the best feature of this hotel. It took only 30 minutes to walk to UQAM which was my destination. Lots of amenities, restaurants and transit options available.
The room was unclean and in disrepair. There was no elevator so I had to walk up four flights of stairs with a heavy suitcase and I have mobility issues. No staff assisted me with my luggage. The room was very expensive for the dump it was. There was no breakfast available but a continental was marketed.
location, back door that opened for nice view and air(back side rooms only, this side is quiet also), surprisingly comfortable bed, clean sheets and down pillows - with all the other negatives I was concerned about bed bugs.
by far the dirtiest hotel room I have ever stayed at, I went around and cleaned any surface I had to touch. no alarm clock, ice bucket, desk, one tiny garbage can in bathroom, running toilet, loose external door knob, run down furniture, cracked sink, bad wifi that went out regularly
on arrival a sense of dread came over me. this can't possibly be a 2 star hotel charging $300 a night? the nervousness of the receptionist and insistence on signing the credit card slip before being able to see the room another bad sign. no elevator and no assistance to drag heavy suitcase to top floor. the reek of 10 year old cigarette smoke in the corridor, which got worse on entering the room. the rickety apology for furniture whose surface more cigarette burn than varnish. sticky carpets. fear of whats been there before. very strange noises in the night.sunken bed. breakfast? hilarious...2 stars? what a joke. had booked 3 nights, checked out after one hoping for a refund - not a chance. don't stay there even if desperate - check your luggage into left luggage at the station or airport and sleep on park bench a far safer option. if you got a car even better - sleep in that. stayed in far nicer places backpacking for a few $'s a night. any even slightly positive reviews of this dreadful hell hole must have been submitted by the management or their associates
The price and location are perfect the staff is ok the place is clean but run down the washrooms work fine but again washed out and not all the locks worked it's a simple cheap nice but not fancy place great value but u get what u pay it's good enough for simple traveler who is looking for value but id never take my girlfriend for a night there
A great location and easy street acess. The room had a rear dor that opened onto an alley, allowed fresh air in. Daily linen service was good.
Floors and surfaces were unbelieveably dirty. Drawers in dresser falling of rack. Poor room lighting - either glaring or too dim. Pricing was far in excess of the values.
-very inexpensive when booked online or long time in advance -well placed, not far from everything -Very inexpensive and comfy beds for the price.
-not the sharpest place to bring a date -
Excellent location (close to downtown, parks, nice neighbourhood, good restaurants, public transit)
Needs renovations (dark colour scheme, and outdated decor, broken drawers, bathroom walls) DEFINITELY needs cleaning (I could read previous visitor's grafitti on inside of bathroom door and walls that staff somehow felt was adequately covered with the thinnest coat of paint). Cobwebs hanging above my bed. Carpet in stairwell needs vacuuming. Simple things needed to improve the hotel. Even if it translates to higher fees that would be fine. I booked this place last minute for four nights, should never be a first choice.
Location is very close to the park, and close enough to downtown (20 minute walk). Transit stations are also quite close. Very friendly (and bilingual) staff.
The breakfast is basic - toast, muffins and coffee. Parking is difficult - we were lucky and needed only overnight - but I can see issues for most. 3 power interruptions when we were there, each lasting less than 5 seconds, however, this was disconcerting.
The location was very central and near to busses & metro. The room was extremely large with 2 double beds and air conditioning. Very friendly staff.
No elevator - difficult if you come with heavy luggage!Room was dark, only one poor overhead light plus bedlight. No coffemaker or fridge. Breakfast was a bit on the cheap side, but ok.
I felt safe and while the furnishings weren't fancy at all, it all felt very clean. I only stayed there while I was attending a music festival and only needed a spot to sleep and shower. I wouldn't recommend this for a romantic getaway or anything. The breakfast was free, but it was nothing fancy. I was okay with that as my main purpose was not for fine dining, but somewhere to perch while attending a music festival. They had two types of cereal, tea, coffee, milk, bread and pastry
A bit dingy, but That didn't bother me much.
The location is great for exploring the scenic & historic Plateau area on foot, it's close to bus/metro & many cafes, restaurants & parks. Perfect pied-a-terre for my week-long stay.
With no elevator, accessibility can be an issue. As I was helping my daughter move, I had extra baggage to drag up & down the stairs. My room location on an upper floor made this a challenge.
Excellent friendly and helpful staff.
Very dirty carpets, in common areas and also in the room. I did read reviews about how dirty the stair carpet was but imagined it must have been cleaned or replaced by now. Wrong!
the location to public transportation and restaurants. walking distance to some historic areas. the room was clean. staff was very helpful and always on duty.
the breakfast had limited choices. had to pay extra for parking. small bathroom
The room and staff
There was some noise in the building and from behind the building but I think it was a result of poor sound proofing.
I lived in Plateau Royal Hotel when we traveled in Montreal. On July 20, I returned to the hotel since my son had been slept, and I parked my car by the hotel staff guidance at the entrance of the parking place, and paid out the parking fee. but then , I got a penalty notice and the reason is that we stop at a disabled car place, since we are the first time to Montreal, and do not speak French, so fully trust in the hotel staff guidance. then, We ask the hotel for compensation, but the hotel manager does not pay attention and with no answer to us, for the trip so melancholy experience, we will keep compaining to related departments to get back our related compensation.
Proximity with public transit.
close to Metro and Centre-Ville, interesting location. Continental breakfast didn't have a huge variety, but it was fresh. room seemed clean. would stay there again.
