Score from 50 reviews Very good
we like the location as we have now stayed in both prestiges, one on the lake , and know this one. Very comfortable beds.
no pool or hot tub, to far to go to the other prestige for a swim and hot tub. didn't like the hardwood floors to cld. not a fan of the train. Hard access to the hotel. no place to have breakfast or lunch or dinner.
The only disappointing thing was that the restaurant only off were the buffet for breakfast and not any menu at all
Clean Easy to find Quite nice view over river But scruffy land by hotel
Small room Too far out of town Too many steps and stairs when transporting luggage Train line immediately adjacent
friendly competent staff
Great stay...great location. ....clean....staff excellent. ...we will definitely stay again.. ...thank you for your excellent service. Susan Rose Pat Agnew
When I arrived with my family we were not happy with the location or the area the hotel is in, its further from all the nice restaurants and shops, the on line images are a lot nicer than the actual place. Just at the lobby the ceiling tiles are stained and the trim work is shabby. They were not able to accept the credit card that I initially booked the room with, they would not accept a debit/visa and they were not at all accommodating to try and help me find a reasonable solution they demanded an unreasonable large cash deposit, this was turning into a nightmare so I went to the bank which happened to be down town I was able to find much nicer accommodations right in the heart of this beautiful town, I definitely recommend Nelson but not this hotel.
Train at 2:3 AM woke us jup
Room was clean, and had a comfortable sleep. Staff was friendly. (We waited for 10 min, before we called them on house phone, they were working on the floor too. )
Parking was terrible. And trying to get onto the street is another thing...Poor location. (We came back to hotel at 9:30 at night, and a car was blocking the entrance, no room for a passing car. Thank goodness, the driver came and moved the car) The price went up when we checked in, I booked it online, and was told it was 160. We got there and the bill was taken up to $200.00. There was no continental breakfast, or any of the usual at a hotel. I understand this is a 2nd hotel under another one, but I want my amenities at the same hotel. This was a lesson learned. Sorry, Not our type of accomodation. (The other hotels were sold out, or we would have stayed elsewhere)
Comfortable beds, plentiful pillows, reasonable rates
The train whistles jolting me awake in the middle of the night. The number of stairs, even when the elevator was used.
Hotel was clean and comfortable.. Parking was fine.
There were no facilities for eating - neither restaurant nor coffee shop. One receptionist said we couldn't have a voucher for breakfast at the other Prstige hotel in the town. A second one gave us a voucher!
The location was nice, close to the Beach, Mall and Downtown.
We tried to upgrade our room but told we couldn't, we were told to pay 109 bucks if we wanted too when we only paid 80 bucks a night for the hotel.
Facilities were very clean and comfortable. The balcony was terrific. The view was lovely and it was really nice to be outside.
We were not warned about the train whistle, and therefore we were startled the first night. Secondly, we were in Nelson to attend a wedding and our other family members said to use the coupon for breakfast at the "resort". When we asked about the coupon we were told that we had such a good room rate that we didn't qualify for the coupon. Our room rate was the same as the what the others were paying. We had booked first and told them to book with you, so I felt a little slighted. It really isn't a big deal, but I thought I would mention it.
Staff was very nice. General decor was well done. Essential elements were functional - good shower, good tv, internet, etc. View to the lake over the park was kind of pretty, (once you ignored the road, parking lot, trains). Loved having access to the other property's pool...
Trains were difficult to sleep through. Location was much further from downtown than was advertised. Stairs/elevator was a strange layout - very difficult for someone who struggles with stairs. General decor was nice, but surfaces seemed worn - door to balcony was nearly impossible to open, peeling paint in bathroom, etc.
We liked the breakfast food credit at the restaurant at the other Prestige resort located right on the lake.
The railway tracks are right behind the resort and they blow their horn in the middle of the night.
Proximity to downtown is good. Beautiful view of the park & lake.
3rd floor room has a small-ish window so the light is limited. I am active & was out a lot so not a concern for me but others staying in the room more might not like it.
Train noise Smokers on balconies Local mall machinery noise at night No shampoo
Close to town & shopping & restaurants
The ups & downs to get to the 2nd floor room.
Good location for park. Walmart near by as well a grocery store. Easy walk to town center
Train at 2:30 am was expected but still a loud surprise as there is a road crossing next to hotel so train has to blow whistle
Beds and bedding were decent. Rooms were decent size.
Parking was less than stellar and not enough of it. One of the staff was less than helpful almost to the point of rude and did was not overly interested in assisting or answering any questions.
The room was tiny and we paid a lot of money. It was noisy (especially when someone had water running). No amenities.
The hotel is a short walk to the mall and a park with excellent walking paths. We walked for over an hour in the park. There are memorial plaques all over on benches and lamp standards. Lots of flowers to enjoy as well.
The train passes very close to the rooms and the it blows the whistle because there is a road crossing at the corner of the hotel. This happens in the wee hours of the night. If the hotel is full, parking is a problem.
Comfortable beds, nice clean room, great view.
The last 2 nights the people above us came home at 3:00 am and turned on music so loud we could not sleep!!!!!! So we would not stay again unless they could guarantee a room on the 3rd floor.
The view was excellent, the beds were very comfortable.
The train noise at 1:30 in the morning woke me up both nights but my companion slept through it.
The room was very big, and comfy beds. Staff could have been abit more friendly, but aside from that I would stay here again.
Staff could have been abit more friendly.
Clean, easy to access.
Location on train tracks is a bit problematic.
