The street is packed with restaurants, pubs, peeping clubs: beyond the
lively atmosphere, there only is the super loud all-night long noise,
the nauseating smells, the disquieting drunk/junkie peoples
wandering during the night or laying on the sidewalk in the morning. Our
rooms were located in the basement, with small windows looking directly
at the sidewalk, at the street dirt, and without iron gratings: really
eerie and uncomfortable. Very bad smell coming from the centralised
a/C. Very worn out rugs, curtains. Stained bed covers and bed
structures. Filthy surfaces on the room fridge. Hair in the bathroom
floor. Breakfast takes place in the basement, a tiny room with no
windows and only 1 table and 10 chairs: impossible. Beware: the 2
parking spaces belonging to the hotel (with regular street sign) do not
prevent you from getting a fine if you park your car for 10 minutes
while loading your luggage in the moring hours.
The check in and breakfast staff was very kind, welcoming and helpful.
The price is very low considering the super-expansive trend of Montreal,
but there are reasons for that: even though the hotel is much better
than it appears from the outside (which is discomforting), it is in
desperate need of some hard work.
