I thought the hotel in today's world of high prices is an excellent value! Location is next to many eateries/entertainment. Summer it might be noisy well into the night with the window open. But that is the trade off for the location in the Latin Quarter. Excellent choice for student travelers/young adults and anyone who wants to stretch their money.

It is in the Latin Quarter, on St Denis, in the city centre, close to everything, metro,etc and the price was beyond reasonable. There are lots of restaurants etc., a great vegetarian restaurant across the street.One large queen size bed, flat screen T.V., a large clean bathroom, and I especially liked the small fridge. In a nutshell, for ''4'' days, beginning of May it cost me $200.00 + tax. Be prepared to possibly pay more in summer, during tourist season, that's also festival time. It is a ''no'' star hotel so I didn't expect perfection.

The top bed sheet had a large stain on the inside of it, throw it out please.The small fridge froze my water, oh well ! The front desk forgot to give me a wake-up call. There is no fan in the room/ceiling. Montreal in summer is brutally humid. Lots of traffic on Berri street, a major artery can be very noisy, deters one from opening the window. In summer be prepared to buy a fan in a pawn shop on St. Laurent. Lots of human traffic in this quarter is both great for people watching, but unfortunately it also attracts a lot of panhandlers. I wouldn't recommend this area/hotel for families or your honeymoon(sic) ! a street person (female) was renting a room in the hotel, so the hotel seems ''flexible'' during down times of the year. Having said that, I felt totally safe in Montreal, at nite or daytime, anywhere I went. If money is your main concern, I wouldn't judge this place or St. Denis too harshly. Let's face it, unemployment is high in Montreal, and there are panhandlers everywhere. At least they don't beat you up like they do in Winnipeg, where I am from.

The price is good, consider the facilities! The location is perfect for newcomers: it's near the subway and there are many shops around like McDonald and Starbucks.

The non-refundable breakfast is a little bit too less. It can be hardly be called a breakfast! Also, it would be perfect if they provide slippers. Some minor things like towels too. I booked the room for max. 4 people, but the room only had 2 towels. They may not know how many guests will stay but they should have prepared for the max number of guests!

Fantastic location. Excellent value.

It was a terrible experience. I had to stay only 2 nights and the last morning I woke up I was cover of red bytes on my arms and my back. The room was infested of bedbugs. The hotel didn't helped me at all, they told me it is an allergy! and I had to pay to put everything to the dry cleaner to make sure that I bring nothing home. The doctor confirmed it was bedbugs. Would not recommend this hotel.

Good prices, small, shady and suspicious but clean and confortable

Disappointing. Reviews had rated the hotel well but we found the place bleak. Our room, large enough, was dark and opened on to a central shaft affording a whiff of fresh air but no more. Room not serviced until avout 2 pm. No lift, (my wife is disabled).Towels and bedding were basically clean but needed close inspection. "Breakfast" (included in advertised price) was minimal - either a croissant or a muffin and a paper cup of coffee - served in a bland basement, where there were more bedrooms. Reception staff a series of rather informally-dressed men, but helpful enough. Hotel entrance most uninviting with very tatty carpet running up some steps to an uninspiring reception area.. On arriving the bill was immediately presented to us for settlement. The area was teeming with students and young people of every nationality. Many frequenting the plethora of lively, noisy cafés. Strip joint next door. Some ladies of dubious repute hanging around in street.. But hotel price was cheap enough and if young at heart (like us, mid-sixties!) and not seeking luxury, it you would find it probably would suffice

the algerian guy who was one of the staff was really friendly, u will meet him everyday when u take ur breakfast.

wifi wasnt able to be received in the rooms, u must go to the lobby to use it.

Immediately, upon opening the front door, I felt friendliness and a sincere desire to help me, in any realistic way, with any problems I might have, being a stranger in Montreal. The continental Breakfast, served in a special room reserved for that person, was really delicious and delivered with a genuine smile, and some gentle urgings to 'EAT MORE". Clean, (Well run), comfortable, friendly, and moderately priced, the Latin Quarter Hotel exceeded my expectations, and , without hesitation, this is my first choice in Montreal.

cheap and clean

Two things that should be known before booking: 1. this place is located next to a strip club that blasts thumping music all weekend night long 2. the hotel management likes to save money by turning off the heating throughout the hotel (even in the middle of Montreal's winter). I had to speak with them five times over the course of two days to turn the heating back on. When questioned on why they were doing this, they just said to "call 0" when you want to have heating (for only a few hours, until they turn it off again). Woke up freezing at 5:00am twice.

For the price and proximity of everything downtown, best bang for buck!
