눉With family living nearby, we stayed as a couple in Travelodge, Belleville and had booked in advance to be there on three occasions within a week, for five days in all, so we got a cross section view of the hotel from many perspectives. There are four floors, and we stayed in rooms 358, 370 and 440.
The hotel is not a pleasant place to stay. It is dirty, it is not being managed well, and it is not being maintained.
Each of the rooms above had a balcony. In all cases, the sliding door to the balcony was difficult to open, as its runners were imbedded with grit and dirt. It was even worse on the balconies, as each was filthy, and obviously had not been cleaned for a long time.
Room 370 had a closet door that is hanging by its top runners, but is warped and does not run on its lower runners at all, so it dangles loosely as it is opened, and suggests that it might fall off at any time.
The bathrooms are tiny, just the length of the bath, and approximately square. The door is opposite the toilet, and barely has room to open, so that one has to step in beside the toilet to open the door from inside.
The toilet seats are those tiny round ones, which may be comfy for ladies, but just don’t do it for men!
Each bathroom has those awful liquid dispensers, one labelled “Shampoo Hair and Body” and the other “Conditioner”. Does anyone else consider shampoo and soap to be the same thing?
We were there over a weekend, during which time the one guest elevator was out of service. From our first visit, there was a notice in the elevator that it was faulty, and that one should be careful that it may not line up with the floor outside, and that the hotel were dealing with the problem as quickly as possible. However, one week later, the notice was still in the elevator.
To attract customers, the hotel is offering a very special rate to construction workers. For this they pay a heavy price.
