the house is in an excellent location, in an area we personally really like. very nice owners, they can share lots of interesting stories....original decor. quaint victorian with a twist. clean bathrooms, we always found a free one. nice rooms.
the mattress was difficult to cope with. rather uncomfortable for our backs... the industrial AC unit of the neighbours humming next to our window.
Romantic Mansion is a really special experience. It's a beautiful old building with over-the-top decor. Don't go if you want the plushest new towel, a modern building, or if you're expecting to spend the night in an IKEA. Do go if you want to spend some time exploring a cool old home in a fun college neighborhood. My friend and I had a great time, and the owner was super kind and accommodating--he even came in before 6am to check us out early. Romantic Mansion costs less than a Motel 6, and it's a much better adventure. I wish we could have stayed a few more nights.
Creaky bed Intermittent wifi Shower head too low Run down building Smell in rom
The bed and breakfast was clean and the ambiance in the Victorian Home was very nice. Shared washrooms were clean and nice. Shared common room with tv was comfortable. Place was quiet during stay and the room was comfortable. Overall it is a good value for the money.
Continental breakfast was fair but not enough to cover all guests. Included bacon, scrambled eggs and hashbrowns but if you didn't get to it when it was first put out you could miss out on some. Also included toast, croissants, yogurt, muffins along with juice and coffee. WiFi was fair to connect too with minor issues. Room was a little small for two people as well.
The decor is the house is extraordinary.
This house is highly overrated and definitely not worth the price. The staff working there was nothing short of rude, breakfast was not worth having (it consisted more or less of toast, cold eggs and coffee) and the wireless in the house, which we counted on, never worked. Payment is cash only, up front. It is no wonder that the house is currently for sale.
The bed is very soft. The wifi is not working.
Pretty from outside.
Scarry from inside. Like a houseDracula would live in!
The many-many sculptures and hornements
The washrroms are from the 60's
The owner is very friendly. Excellent breakfast. Comfortable bed squeaky floor :)
Location. Helpful staff.
I liked the house on the outside, and the lady staff member in kitchen. And the cost was fair.
I found the room too small, and lack of a/c was awful during the very hot time during trip. Also there was no note on how to open bathroom door from inside or outside and got locked in temporarily. And there was no lever to pull for a shower.
ohhh i like everything, it feels like home- it's quiet and peaceful. Good price for the location. Not your typical hotel that is fastpaced, this one is too quiet. Clean and the mansion is soo interesting. The owner is nice! Food is okay but there's a lot of restaurant and pub outside .
My bed-a bit uncomfortable. :)
Friendly, it was exactly what we were looking for. A place to rest our heads and a bite to eat. Around a nice area with places to eat and libations to be consumed.
sharing of bathrooms.
Great quirky mansion in residential area of downtown Toronto (west). Decor is fun and over-the-top! We stayed for two nights during the week and largely had the place to ourselves. Great breakfast in the morning with bacon, eggs, cheese, muffins, toast, juice, coffee or tea.
Hardwood floors were very squeaky and bathroom door on third floor was very noisy....
location pleasant attitude entourage
handles operate very strange on the third floor shower works barely
small rooms, no washrooms upstairs, no parking away from downtown
Location. Was easy to get downtown using the trams. Owner was friendly and gave good advice about trams and parking. Good breakfast.
Bizarre decors. In a way it was a feature, but it was a notch potch of styles etc. Odd parking arrangements - not hotel's fault. Would avoid if travelling by car. We were on the top floor with some very narrow corridors . Not sure how it would be evacuated safely in an emergency.
Breakfast included, overall quiet, price.
Way too hot, no air-conditioning, breakfast buffet should have serving spoons for the hot items. Bananas were green as grass.
One of my friends encountered bed bugs on our stay. Not a good sign.
We were very pleased with the service, and the friendliness of the owner. breakfast was ready in the morning, and the place was very clean. Check in and check out was efficient.
there were several things we were not pleased with. No parking, not even to unload our luggage. We had to drive around the block a few times to just find a space to stop and take our luggage out. There was a municipal parking lot 2 blocks down that went from 7 am to 6 pm for day rates and 6pm to 7 am. for the over night rates. We had planned to go to the Island for the day next day and stay late to get some photography done and we would not be able to get there to get another ticket for the night. it was not convenient. I know we paid the cheapest fee, but our room was tiny...there was only room for a bed and a night stand and I mean there was no room to even walk around the bed hardly. it was a very small room.(we probably had the smallest room in the place) There was hardly any place to put the luggage, although the owner said they would put it (the luggage) in another room if they had one open or downstairs in the common area, which made no sense as we obviously needed our luggage in the room with us. we had to pile everything on the one side. Also, the building was being sold and the owner wanted cash for the payment, even though the booking.com website had said he accepted credit card. my husband had to go and get some from an ATM down the road as he was planning on putting it on his debit or credit card. it was just very inconvenient. I am sure that they had better rooms that were bigger, that you had to pay a lot more for, but I did not think that for what we paid the room was a good value. Although we liked the owner, we would not stay there again.
Lovely quiet neighbourhood. Wonderful home away from home in a lavishly decorated mini palace. Breakfast was simple and tea available throughout the day.
I will request a room with a bathroom next time I visit instead of sharing a bath.
the silence at night
Cost effectiveness was great, Good breakfast, only short foodpath To the Centre
Noisy because of the thin Walls and the squeaky parquet floor
