Score from 452 reviews Excellent
great location, staff friendliness and assistance, comfort of bed, ceiling heights, complimentary wi-fi, inviting fire blazing in lobby.
decor is tired, needs update only one spare plug to recharge devices, TV old and small - at least in our room, carpets in halls and in room in bad condition need updating, upholstery in places both in room and in common parts quite grubby, paper napkins at breakfast, tea bags not loose tea, tiny coffee cups. But this would not put me off visiting again, i just hope redecorating is on the agenda
location, comfort, staff
unable to make my computer work in my room, business centre a little uncomfortable. Breakfast buffet not great value. Coffee poor.
Staff were great. The hotel was nice looking and clean. The beds were very comfortable. The room was very quiet. It had a great continental breakfast on the 2nd floor and the adjoining restaurant (The Hambar) was excellent and had good prices
As in previous reviews the hallways were dark but they are like the W Hotel what bothered me more, was the carpet in the hallway way badly installed and blah. It was also very strange that you had to keep your room key inserted in a slot by the door for the lights to be on. It was a hassle when we went to bed. It was so dark, which was great for sleeping, but you had to keep the light on in the bathroom to be able to see your way to the bad. Also the fan on the airconditioning blew directly on the bed which was uncomfortable for sleeping. These were only small issues. It was a great time overall
Location Friendly staff clean professional
Pricey were quoted 199 but bill was 256 after all the massive Canadian taxes. Why don't those people revolt?
The Hotel was in a good location for sightseeing and restaurants. Our car was taken care of promptly and ready on our departure. Checking in & out was speedy.
Having previously read that the Hotel corridors & lifts were dimly lit, I would have to agree. However it did not detract from the hotel itself & gave a feeling of calmness!
the staff are very friendly and they were efficient with the check in
confusion with the valet
This trip was planned at the last minute.I was visiting my daughter in Vermont(she is a traveling nurse.) We were so close to Montreal, we decided to make a quick weekend trip.Very limited in our French speaking, the staff at Hotel St Paul eased our worries by all speaking English. We were so convenient to walk to our destinations, and had delicious meals at both restaurants we visited.Great first experience!
We liked everything about Hotel St Paul
Nothing. They seemed to forget that honoring the reservation is an essential part of the process.
I would never trust them. They were ready to leave me stranded in a foreign country, in a non English speaking city. Absolutely I excusable. If I had not had asked for the hotel general manager and the general managers boss, I would have been in deep trouble.
able to open windows deep bath tub comfortable bed location
modern design of the room shower design
outlook from the window room looked like an interior space without access to the outside, the sky
The Doorman was very helpful. The room was spacious and storage was plentiful. Housekeeping staff were outstanding. Close to great restaurants and local sites.
Reception staff were somewhat uninformed. The sofa was a bit odd to sit on with a beverage and the faux fur needs to go.
So very French, almost like Paris!
We had trouble with the internet, couldn't stay on line.
Liked the view from the 10th floor suite - very friendly staff at the front desk and in the restaurant/bar adjacent to the main lobby - we arrived a bit early and had to wait for our room to be cleaned (not a big deal as we decided to upgrade once we arrived) - it was worth the wait. We have enjoyed ourselves each time we've stayed here - highly recommend this place for its ambiance and location. The front desk attendant was extremely accommodating.
The lobby is looking a bit tired and could use a minor refresh. The faux animal hides on the chairs have seen better days - time to send those pelts to a taxidermist! Fireplace wasn't working when we stayed there - too bad really, as the alabaster fireplace is a beautiful feature that many first-timers will remember when they arrive. Suspect this was a minor maintenance issue and will be repaired quickly. Really not much truly negative to say about this place. Guess that is why we return here any time we are in Montreal.
Great location Fantastic bell men Comfortable bed Excellent bathroom Aesthetically pleasing decor
Front desk staff on check in was unfortunately rude, rolling her eyes several times when i needed to clarify The 2 Suite bookings we had. At 930am, Before our 12 noon checkout, the cleaner had already started preparing the room nd cleaning it. Yet in the days we stayed, the cleaning happened until 5pm! Not great especially when we had not vacated our room.
Modern design, location
The St Paul is starting to look a bit tired; no functional chair in the room; poorly lit halls
The location is amazing, and near a good tube station (on an excellent line). Perfect for central Montreal. Rooms are smart and large too.
This hotel really is without heart or character. Despite the great location I would never stay here again. It's bland, the staff lack warmth, the design is cold (and I like 'design hotels' and stay in them often). Corridors are furnished in very dark colours and have low level red lights, making the place incredibly depressing as well. I would not recommend it. The location is hard to beat but it isn't worth it. I was here for a week and was glad to leave. It's a terrible shame. No warmth, no identity, no personality.
the desk in the middle of room was inconvenient. Every time I hit my head in the pendant lamp.
the rooms are comfortable, spacious the location is great the bar is fun, great staff, good food and drinks the staff is very nice, the door persons very welcoming
the blinds on my windows were broken and impossible to open and close properly, but no big deal
Lobby was very tired looking. Not sure why curtain was blocking elevators. Walls badly in need of paint. Furniture should all be replaced especially the tacky faux fur sheepskins thrown on back of chairs. Bathroom the most poorly designed of any hotel we've stayed in. Desk clock had no light to see the time during the night. No proper lighting to read in bed. Elevators & hallways were so dark you had to wait for your eyes to adjust just to see where you were going. Might be acceptable to the young but definitely not for the young at heart.
Very unique minimalist interior design. Spacious room. Lobby staff very friendly and attentive. Relatively convenient to center of Old Montreal and the port.
On 1 of our 2 days we returned to the room around 3:30PM and it had not yet been made up. Had to sit in the lobby for 30 minutes.
Location was great, right next to old Montreal and ten minutes walk to subway. It was quiet at night. The room was kept very clean - nice linens.
Lighting in the corridors was very dark and unpleasant. The room did not have sufficient night tables or night table lighting for two people sharing a room.
Good atmosphere in the hotel . Very quiet .
View on fire step ,
We arrived at the hotel from London the night before and the following afternoon, we were pretty jet-lagged. We went back to the hotel around 4pm but although we left the 'pls clean this room' tag on the door, the room wasn't made up. We called the house keeping but no one answered. The reception told us that they don't clean most rooms till 7pm.... Well, it's not a cheap B&B, so the need to rethink this policy.
Pls see above.
