The downstairs pub is a lot of fun! Close access to downtown!
This hostel was really great. All the facilities were there and the room was really large which was good. I arrived early and they let me use the common room bathroom to shower and to chill until check in. Location was good, only a few blocks from town and had lots of events going on. In all a great hostel!
1) Good location 2) Large room with en-suite 3) Cheap bar on location with happy hour 4) Decent kitchen and living room with TV 5) Luggage storage
1) Constant noise, which isn't controlled at night despite the no noise after 11pm policy. I was woken twice by my roommates crying/arguing/leaving early in the morning. If you're going to stay here, you need to bear in mind that the hostel is full of young travellers on working visas who are immature, messy, dramatic, and inconsiderate. 2) I made a request for a bottom bunk as I have a mobility issue which makes climbing to a top bunk possible, but hard work. Usually hostels will reserve a bed if requested in advance but Samesun refused. 3) The door to the room wouldn't lock without getting stuck. One of my roommates informed me that they didn't usually lock the door because of this issue and I should leave it unlocked. (well, that's reassuring.) 4) No elevator- hard work when carrying heavy luggage.
Breakfast included Storage room Location
Woke up 3 times in the night because of other guests, one of who set off the fire alarm in the middle of the night Not too impressed with the hygiene in the bar/breakfast area
Staff Atmosphere Activities
Free and good quality breakfast!! 24/7 Staffs, always willing to answer questions :) Great location, convenient to go anywhere.
Staffs are not as friendly as some other hostels I went to, but they are still great enough. Wifi is quite weak in the room
It has got good location.Private room was clean and quiet.
Store room looked rather not so clean.6 persons dorm rather crammed.
Good but noisy
Very well located, friendly staff. They have a great bar inside the hostel.
Wifi connection was intermitent. Sometimes it didn't work.
Staff were friendly Bar was great
we rented out the dorm room all 8 beds. The bathroom when we checked in was GROSS huge wad of hair hanging off the shower wall and hair behind the door. The garbage hadnt been emptied. Told the front desk who said they would clean it but nothing was ever done.
location, spacious rooms, good people, very good value for money in Banff, good breakfast.
Lots of Ozzies
What I liked is that although I am above average in age (49) for this type of accommodation, it worked. The guests were super friendly at breakfast and I never felt out of place. It made travelling to banff for a four day weekend affordable for me which I liked as I am a single parent who hasn't been able to get away much due to cost and this completely worked.
I was a little surprised to book the all female dorm and not be informed of the change to mixed (due to a mix up I was told) regardless of my email confirmation. Anyways it turned out ok and didn't feel unsafe at all.
snorer in the room (not the hostel's fault), but had to leave at 03:00 a.m.
Many Regulations and Limitations such as no dring water in room. Bathroom was so cheap without any cups... Big noise on first floor. Bad breakfast food and service.
room is very big
on the banff avenue but not close to the spot area, need to walk for 10~15 minutes
location is near to the downtown, nice people i met. the price was good for me, i am looking for some hostel just for sleep there with quite room. warm room
hairdryer was not work. the room have a little bit smell of smoke.i thought last time have some body smoke there. the kitchen so late to open. some of us have to leave the hostel early and the breakfast not ready yet
The dorm room we stayed in was bigger than other hostels I have experienced, which made for a really comfortable stay. The room & beds were clean. The storage room is useful for when you arrive before check in hours/leave after check out time.
A small criticism, but both mornings I went to breakfast (within the correct hours) some of the food had run out. I did wait but it was not replaced until I went to find a staff member and ask them, so the wait was quite long.
I like the underground parking for my motorcycle and the storage area to lock belongings. The front driveway should be fixed as it is really bumpy,
The kitchen area is not kept clean. One microwave was filthy and the other one broken. People do not do their dishes and leave stuff in the sink. The pots and pans you have to get from the reception should be replaced when not in good condition.
Loved most things , bar, kitchen, staff
Cleaning is very poor. Constantly wiping down the shower and sink ourselves. It was disgusting.
staffs were friendly pan cake as breakfast was really good
washroom was dirty especially water in tub didnt go down well kitchen was closed early
good location. staff was fairly friendly. breakfast included. spacious rooms. common room with free internet.
price was too high (but generally so in banff area).
clean ,friendly comfortable place in the center of Banff
bathroom could have been cleaned more often.I stayed for 3 nights
I found the staff to be extremely helpful.
The hostel looks like it needs some upgrading in carpeting, etc. I was in a six person coed dorm. It was a little smelly and in need a good airing or cleaning. I was in a bottom bunk and at 10:30pm, a person informed me I had their bunk, grumbled around turned on the lights and used their phone, texting, etc 'til around 11pm. Then started coughing and got into bed and continued coughing. I ended up in a sleeping bag my car, sunroof open, to avoid the coughing. Comfie, but will bring my camprest mattress next time for emergencies. Suggestions, assign bunk numbers at checkin and if possible segregate sick people.
Good location for the centre of town. Good staff and atmosphere. I also liked the Beaver Bar and the drinks specials. I would like to stay in winter to use the fire in the rooms!
The second time I stayed, the bathroom was a bit scungey. Nothing wrong as such, but maybe spend some money in doing up the bathrooms a little bit.
