This was my fourth stay at this Calgary City Centre hotel - and probably my last. The hotel seems to be going downhill rapidly. I had the smallest room yet, tucked away behind the elevators. The bedside lamp was constantly flickering which was very annoying. Despite several requests, no-one came to attend to it. The whole place is desperately in need of refurbishment, especially the bar (dirty) and Moxies (which used to be quite good). The food was just 'OK' but staff everywhere (except the room maid) seemed to have to make an effort to serve anyone. Incredible difference between this and Sandman Signature.
Location was great
WIFI was very spotty and the Ethernet cable was broken. Maintenance staff have a sense of humor though, the put up the towel hook in the bathroom upside down.
It was a place to stay down town, and close to the business, that I had to be at.
The room carpet was dirty, the bathroom was really small, the cleaning maid did not take out all the dirty towls. The lighting was poor. The air circulation was poor, no air vent in the bathroom, or does it not work. NO Mention that you had to pay for Parking, $24. a day. The toilet seat, is about to fall off, needs to be tightin.
The front desk staff were friendly and helpful to me throughout my stay. My room had a good desk and lamp to work at. The hotel is next to the C-Line, making it convenient to go places.
The hotel is old and needs updating. There was a foul smell outside my room door that was masked by a scent. My room was cold with no extra blankets in the room. There is not enough space in the bathroom to have my toiletries. Everything was very basic. I could hear guests talking in the next room, therefore sound-proofing was not apparent. Outside the hotel were a number of homeless people along with others dealing drugs (or drinking) in the nearby park. This did not inspire a sense of safety for me, as I was travelling alone.
Internet connection was non existent
Location. Literally across the street from 8th street stop on C-train. Downtown location. Everything walking distance. Safe and clean.
I slept but light sleepers may not. Bedroom next to lifts and they can be heard going up and down. I could hear my neighbours. Doors are ill fitting. But everyplace I've been to in Canada has gaps and spaces between the door and frame /door/ floor. 3 stars here are not the same standard as 3 star in Europe.
Moxie' s is very handy to have at the hotel. It was easy to control the temperature in the room. Great shower head.
There was construction and it was difficult to get to the hotel. The roof of the parking lot is very low. There were stains on the bed spread.
The sandman is an ok hotel in a good location. The rest of the hotel is ok it would be great if the rest of the hotel was raised to the standard set by its lobby and in house restaurant.
The Internet ridiculously slow... I could not use Skype because the wifi was so shaky. The air was dry and poor my sinuses bothered me during my entire visit
Big bright light outside my window. Room not very clean (floors and bathroom). Location not the best found out later "Crack Alley". Train directly across the street.
Great location next to the light rail.
Parking was expensive. Room was small, especially the bathroom. Restaurant had awful service, but food was ok.
Parking with a truck is an issue.
The bathroom size is atrocious. I think you should notify anyone in advance that the size of the washrooms were horrific. It certainly is not meant for anyone 6'2" and taller. Just terrible!!!!
Compared to the plush lobby the room was below average. The hot tub didnt have jets and didnt appear too clean.
they did a very nice job putting the room back together for us
they tried to come in twice waking us up in the mornings, once and 9 and once at 10
It was clean and tidy everything and comfortable bed.
The heater was loud noise during night time. And the pool was close because of treatment.
- Friendly staff/quick responses - Good parking - Very dated but tidy and clean - two coffee spots within a block
-Pool was not operating and pool was reason we chose this hotel -Moxie's on site restaurant gets a zero on my room service breakfast -wifi kept disconnecting -no microwave or fridge
I work in the oil and gas business therefore I, like a large percentage of your customers drive a pickup truck, it is my office. You like your competition make it impossible for us to park in your parkades. Causing us much greater expense and inconvenience. ALWAYS KNOW WHERE YOUR PAYCHECK COMES FROM.
Good location. The pool was nice.
The bathroom needed repairs. There was water in the ceiling. The room needs to be updated.
location, close to C train station
convenient location connected to +15 connected to Moxies on site parking
room located next to elevator shaft
The staff was very welcoming
The elevator in the parking garage didn't work so I had to carry my luggage up though the garage doors. The room felt dated and the chairs were old, uncomfortable, and stained. The clieing had a few big dents in it and the bathroom shower had holes in it. The bed was smelly like it hadn't been cleaned so did not have a good sleep.
Staff is nice, location is good
The building could use additional maintenance. Elevators are old and noisy.
Great spot. Best price downtown when I was there.
Wifi varied between great and impossible.
Good beds and nice rooms
The breakfast was not good.
Location to shops, restaurants Close to train station which is free to use in the downtown area
