Price, location, and staff.
The noisy bikers starting their motorcycles at 6am. On and off till 8am. No mini fridge in room. Window AC noisy.
The staff was friendly. The hot tub and pool were nice and clean.
There was no restaurant, but they did offer a continental breakfast for $5.00 The hotel needs updating. It is a bit tired, but was adequate for one night stay.
We liked the indoor pool and hot tub. I was very muggy inside but pool was good.
Very hot in the pool area in July. No exhaust
Lots of parking.
My rating is based on the some taken as a pre-authorization. The hotel pre-authorizes extra $90 on top of the room rate as a security deposit. In my eyes, it's like taking extra money from my pocket and putting it somewhere else. I would strongly refrain from giving business to places who play with your money like it's theirs. This hotel is one of them. To add insult to injury, The A/C wasn't working properly (on a 33C day). When I called reception, they blamed me for setting the A/C temperature too low (when I entered the room, the temperature was already set) causing the A/C to freeze and stop working. They suggested defrosting it for 15 minutes but after that it re-froze. I spent half the night finding the temp setting which would enable the A/C to somehow work. This temp was too high for a comfortable sleep of course. For your general knowledge, only malfunctioning A/C's freeze. the rest just work. To be fair, they gave a $20 refund, but no money would compensate for lost sleep.
Poor air conditioning
Nice big room with good wifi
Very hot in hotel. Our room was ok but AC had to run all the te to barely keep up. The continental breakfast room was also hot to eat in. The hotel needs to improve on AC system
Clean, decent room.
Did not clean my garment soiled by the dirty iron in time before we had to check out the next day. No offer of payment, they had hoped they would have just got it done for us, but staff did not act on it after 24 hrs.
Location and value
Bed was too soft for me
Location. The Beds and TV were OK.
The rugs in the hallway, main and second floor are very soiled and in need of cleaning. The rug in the back entrance-way (which we were encouraged to use by the staff) was dirty and the hallway not at all welcoming. The washroom sink in the room is old and needs to be replaced. The place looks tired and needs an upgrade. Probably, though, this would be very expensive for the hotel chain, and the traffic in Castlegar may not warrant such an expenditure. Oddly, there is no café or restaurant in the city that offers breakfast; we ended up have Egg-McMuffins at MacDonald, which were good, but not as good as a full breakfast would have been.
Very poor parking lot design suprised that there are (supposedly) not more back up coliisions
