The room was clean and airy with good quality products in the bathroom. Reception staff were very welcoming and friendly and resturant host was exceptional. Two things, firstly the dead animals in the glass cases in the reception area. I am totally against killing wild animals for sport. The point could have been made with life size photographs not corpses. Secondly, the service charge on the evening meal. I can understand it for the coach tour parties but not for individual guests. Surcharges make the waiting staff complacent. Our waiter was OK but nothing special which was such a disappointment after the warm and funny welcome from the resturant host, a charming French man. However there was no surcharge on the breakfast the following morning.

Ease of booking, prices are good, convenient for activities. Had some real issues with the shower during our stay. The water temps would fluctuate from scalding to freezing during a 5 minit shower. No real reaction from adjusting the taps, it seemed to do it's own thing.

Excellent staff - lovely rooms with plenty of amenities, wonderful pool/hottub/sauna with great access, the bathrobes were a nice touch of luxury. Amazing quality for the price! Can't wait to return - the staff even bumped us up to a king size bed rather than the two doubles we'd booked which was a very welcome surprise.

Check-in experience was very positive. Room was large and comfortably appointed. Spa entrance needs signage as it is confusing for other guests. The back entrance is looking a bit "worn".

This is an excellent hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. We chose an outside room, overlooking the mountains to the front of the hotel, as we had heard that the inner ones, which overlook the indoor pool/hotub area, were likely to be noisy. Our room (a Delux King, not Queen x2 as stated below) was large, quiet, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. We dined in one of the hotel's restaurants (Walter's) and the food there was of exceptional quality and generous portion size. The only negative things I can think of are that the air-con/heater unit in our room was very old and as such, was considerably louder than modern ones. The room's decor and furnishings were pretty dated, but nothing was worn out or damaged at all. There was definitely nothing that was a real problem or that would put us off returning!

The hotel was far better than we expected. The room was fabulous and the amenities were good. Staff were fantastic. Found the food prices in the dining room to be on the high side, found ourselves eating out at other establishments. Most diner meals were around $25.00 whereas the hotel was around $30.00. The buffet in other establishments was in the range of $10.00 to $12.00 dollars whereas the hotel was $17.00. Other than the food, the rest of the stay was very reasonable.

Good location... Nice rooms... Beautiful view... The hot tub was not in service and that is what I was looking forward to... Perhaps an outdoor hottub with access to snow and mountains???

It was a very welcoming and comfortable hotel. They were very accomodating when I checked in early, and ask to stay later than their check out time. Although clearly the hotel was very busy, it was quiet in my room. All in all, a great experience.

It was a nice place for a decent price. The meal I had at the restaurant in the lobby was horrible. I ordered fish and chips, and was the only patron in the place, and they came out slightly burnt and over cooked. Absolutely unexcuseable!

The hearthstone restaurant was excellent, minus the small menu choice. The food was delicious and priced well. Rooms were nice and clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. The jacuzzi was closed for renovations and thats one of the reasons we stayed here. The first night the heater didnt work properly and I ended up getting sick. Just our luck of the draw with the room. Having showers in the morning were tricky because the water temperature kept changing. Also had weak water pressure.

“i loved it. the room was cozy and clean. the staff were profession and personable. when i checked in the clerk had my reservation ready immediately, she looked into some evening entertainment for us, she showed us where to go for the dinner we wanted (which was a great fit for us, the brewing co.). next time we are in jasper we will be sure to use all the facilities the tonquin inn offers - our only regret is that we didn't stay long enough! thanks for a great stay!” Crystal, Calgary |

“We travelled with 2 other couples who were visiting from Ireland. We were given three rooms adjacent to each other facing the train station. The rooms were all spacious, clean and quiet. We all agreed that the beds were more comfortable than those we had experienced in most other hotels. The staff was friendly and helpful. We toured the hotel's nature museum and the visitors found it most interesting. The live band in the pub was a little loud for us but we just went across the street to a quieter lounge until the music was over at 11:00 pm and stopped in for a nightcap at the hotel's pub later. Breakfast at Smitty's next door was very convenient in the morning. We would definitely stay here again.” Matthew, St Albert |
