The owners and the general atmosphere
Hosts were welcoming and provided helpful information about the area. We enjoyed our stay.
The house had a very authentic ambiance, its decor and furnishings were really something to behold and enjoy. Our gracious hosts were very helpful in getting us fed in the mornings and offering useful tips during our stay! Their garden parkette is beautiful. You made us feel like family; thank you, D & A.
amount of space two comfy leisure chairs spacious accommodations to choose from spacious outdoor beautiful gardens flexibility
Had to leave after one day
Breakfast was spectacular! Gardens and setting were so beautiful Friendly and helpful hosts Gave me wine tasting tokens and good advice
bed was incredibly hard room a little small but hey it's a B&B :)
How close you were to downtown, the garden area.
The breakfast was mediocre, there was no coffee or tea set up before breakfast or any time of the day.
Decor of rooms Breakfasts Hosts
Shower (clawfoot tub with curtain surround - it stuck to you as you tried to shower so it felt like showering inside your clothes!) Windows didn't open in my room. Used a small fan provided to stay cool at night.
An easy walk to everything, but far enough removed to be very restful. Their garden was beautiful and their small dog was as friendly as the owners. I would recommend this B&B without reservation.
garden was amazing; historical setting was lovely.
Only took cash, but did not know that before; Had to climb steep stairs to room.
Owners Diane and Allan were extremely friendly and helpful. The house and room was very clean and with all needed amenities. Breakfast was very good. Many fresh homemade foods. We enjoyed conversation with the owners and the other guests at breakfast. Diane shared so much interesting historical information about the house and the Niagara On The Lake area. Also their dog Parker is adorable!
Great breakfast.lovely hosts.
The house is well located, the garden is beautiful, well kept and lovely to sit in to relax. Our room was very comfortable, private and immaculate. Our breakfasts were well presented and tasty. The hosts are welcoming and fun. The B&B is a short walk to shops & amenities.
VERY FRIENDLY HOST AND HOSTESS. GREAT LOCATION AND GREAT BREAKFAST. WILL RETURN SOON!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO OTHERS.
ALL WAS WELL!!!
Breakfast was substantial, location was within walking distance of shops and theatres, hosts were charming, taking time to walk with us through their glorious gardens.
As first time Shaw Festival attendees my wife and I stumbled onto this amazing historical home in Niagara-on-the-Lake. A short, easy walk from the main street in NOTL this circa 1818 home is close to all the action! We stayed in the Porter room that boasts two bedrooms and a sitting room and can accommodate a family of four. Everything in the home is immaculate and as soon as you step through the door you get a relaxed "at-home" feeling. An additional bonus was the gorgeous, sprawling gardens attached to the house, with quite gazebos and porches, a bubbling waterfall and serene fish pond! The only thing better than the house and gardens are the owners themselves Alan and Diane, who are lifetime residents with family reaching back generations in the area. It was amazingly great fun to hear them tell about their personal history of NOTL and the surrounding areas. Wine enthusiasts will also get numerous tips about the dozens of wineries in the area from people who are plugged into the local wine making industry. All in all we had the time of our lives and were made to feel completely at home and comfortable. We eagerly anticipate returning next year with more family to fill up the Old Schoolmaster's House!
Helpful owners. Great breakfasts
No chair in the room. External staircase difficult in the dark
Excellent location in the historic quaint town. Beautiful gardens with several sitting areas to relax with a glass of wine. Very helpful hosts provided assistance with planning our time in the Niagara region.
Friendly and helpful folk! Home from home feeling.Great breakfasts. The location was super. Our room was spacious and clean with home comforts.
That we had to leave and return home.
Large room, comfortable bed, lovely garden, genial hosts.
The house itself is really pretty in a great location. Notl is one of the most idyllic places we visited. Breakfast is fabulous and the hosts went out of their way to be friendly and helpful The layout of our room was perfect - one double room with separate room for the kids with twin beds
Helpful and friendly hosts, nice rooms, excellent conversations with other guests, beautiful gardens, good location, availability of refrigerator.
It would have been nice to have a coffee pot or electric kettle to heat water for tea in the evening. I'm sure the hosts would have been helpful had I asked.
Hosts are very nice and will do everything they can to make your stay enjoyable.
On a main road so when the theatre lets out, traffic noise is high for a while.
The breakfast was always delicious, made with fresh fruit every day. The owners helped us in advising us where to go, and how to get there. They made reservations for us at the restaurants, and gave us discount tickets for other places.
We could not use our credit cards to pay our bill.
