Hostel was clean & comfortable. Staff was kind & helpful. Location is close to hiking trails.
Rooms were clean and furniture and bedding was really nice and clean. flooring was nice and clean. overall I liked the place except for the bathroom.
Needs a tub/shower upgrade. Most people I know would simply not book this place cause of tub/shower conditions. no facecloths. very dirty water dispenser at top of stairs. garbage in bathroom too small. no toilet paper dispencer.
Staff was friendly. Nice to have coffee and toast in the morning.
Not enough parking on the grass in front of hostel. Front steps were in need of repair. Very hard to find the hostel at night. Better signs needed.
Near the Skerwink Trail
Lack of a decent breakfast, cleanliness, night noise from other guests
Information and maps available on site. Staff was nice and helpful.
The hostel wasn't super clean. The window screen in private bedroom was filled dirth. Couln'd even see outside. The ceiling lamp bulb had bugs in it. The kitchen facility was ok clean but would't of cooked anything there. Maybe i am juste too old for this.
Close to Trinity.
Poor staff. Very small room, poor breakfast: 2 toasts + jam and butter. No value for the money.
friendly staff, spacious room, freshly baked bread, campfire and music in the evening and fireworks in the backyard to celebrate canada day
the kitchen could use a good cleaning and the thin nylon-type sheets were not good.
Nice staff Good location
Very basic lodging
Excellent situation near the Skerwink trail and near Trinity.
This was our first stay in a hostel in Canada and we would have appreciated some explanations as to how the system worked (use of kitchen for example).
Walk to the Skerwink Trail, locals congregate there providing good conversation and information, friendly and attentive staff, waking up to the smell of freshly baked bread, close to Trinity and Bonavista, a moose visited while we were relaxing on the front porch.
Quiet hours, according to the rules begin at 11PM but the staff, locals and some guests had loud laughter-filled conversations past 11. Nothing wrong with that other than keeping others awake.
I visited during the shoulder season, that is after Labor Day, so there only a few other travelers. That said, ample social space, an available in-house laptop with wifi for use if you need it. It's strongly geared toward self-catering, so don't expect to get a breakfast (except there is coffee and tea, and some stuff for cheap purchase). A mix of guests, and great host while I was there. Bikes available for cheap rent if you don't have your own transpo.
If it's busy, you may have a bit of a wait to use the washroom + shower. Just be aware and plan ahead.
it was a very nice atmosphere. I felt welcomed right away. The location was perfect. right at the start of the skerwink trail, which is an awesome hike! and really, we saw moose right down the street, so how can I complain!
Instant friends! Very welcoming and relaxed. Almost like you're staying at a friends' place that you just never met before.
They need some lights on the sign - could not find the hostel in the dark.
Staff, nice room, Trinity, and the "Trail"
The staff was very helpful and friendly. The place was very clean and tidy.
