The room was very cosy. We found the rest of the inn quite odd so we spend the evening in the comfort of our room. They also provided bath robes which was a nice addition.
The inn was very dated. We stayed at an off peak time of year so the place was empty apart from ourselves which made us feel a little uncomfortable. The'fine dining' restaurant was far from fine dining. The room itself was nice but the food was pretty terrible and the waiter made us feel very unwelcome.
Quiet, relaxing, beautiful setting on the north bank of the river. Our room opened onto the patio overlooking the river. It's about 28 km east of the city centre. Our room had a big jacuzzi tub, but the shower head was cracked, unfortunately. Coffee was available at the bar off the lobby, rather than in the room. Robes were provided. The paddocks along the driveway had llamas and horses. I saw benches conveniently placed along the walkway.
This is not the typical pull in, close-to-the-highway motel, but it is worth the extra trouble to get to it.
The young gentleman at the reception desk was friendly and very informative. Our room was comfortable. There was alot of room for our pet to run and walk on the property which we appreciated, especially after previous stays closer to town, where green space is limited. Definately staff here again and our pup gives it a two paws up.
The hotel's location. It is by a river and on the grounds of a horse ranch. It would be great for families with children. It is scenic and has a old-fashioned feel.
The hotel's location. It is actually located outside of the city of Kamloops and for those not in the know, getting to the hotel could be very tricky. My GPS took me to a desolate spot with the same street name inside Kamloops. When I had to retrace my steps out of the city I was convinced that I was heading the wrong way. Until about 40 KM later, I saw the first sign for the hotel by the highway exit.
very comfy matress
did not like our dinner, food tasted bland had troubles sleeping at night, there was some bird constantly pecking outside I think
views, clean beds, apple tress that can pick apples, animals, campfires, and nice people
wifi is slow
The view, accommodated pet very well.
No coffee in the room.
I would like an hotel without super big spiders in the bed. I know spiders walk, but well, just some attention for those big ones would help. The garbage bin was not emptied of the guests before us. There were two sheets of paper with all the names of the guests on the ground when we arrived. The big bathroom, was nice. Just nice to be able not to be cramped in. The possibility to cancel for free the booking is a very pleasant offer.
The amazing big spider was sitting on the bed. Empty garbage bins. That there is more accuracy with papers with our names on it too. Very unpleasant to find that. Very inappropriate. Also moreover the way it was received at the desk. I was received as it was something normal, not an apologize was given. The shared balcony was a big surprise. An hote asking this amount of money for an overnight and not having an own balcony is not inviting to come back again. Beside that there were cotton tips on the floor of the balcony. This gives a very dirty feeling to us to use the balcony even. There is a lot of maintenance to do. The end of the bed pole at the top was broken and fixed with 3 screws. When I grabbed the pole to hold on I almost felt on the floor. Very poor fixed. The fact that the milk is the problem of not having coffee and tea in the room is a poor argument. As there can be a little fridge in the room, with a fresh little can of milk in it, like we had a breakfast. Or to offer little coffee milk cups, as a choice by the guests. The hig standard the hotel wants is not always what guest find in the same way. Now it looks like a handy saving, instead of a problem what is not going to solve while that is easy to do. If guests want fresh milk they could take a little can with us to the room, offered by the check in, to the room. Not a problem. Most people travel from far and stay in the room for a little while. Most do not walk down to get a coffee. People need a rest and comfort to make a cup of coffee. Krups and Nespresso do an amazing job in this. Good coffee. For the price for one night it seems an easy to solve problem. Thank you.
The staff were helpful and friendly. The restaurant food and service was adequate. The rooms were clean. The location was beautiful. We enjoyed the swimming pool.
We had a room with a balcony facing the river and the railroad tracks across the river. The southside of the building ,outside, had peeling paint on most of the trim, balcony flooring had bubbled and curled at the edges. A sign of deferred ,long overdue spruce up. The extra charge for a fridge was unexpected. Most places where I have stayed,at these prices, include a fridge.
South Thompson Inn was a great venue for my son's wedding. The staff were great, the food was awesome, and the whole event went off without a hitch. All good!!
No coffee in my room
Property was beautiful. Room was very large and super clean. Beautiful view of river from balcony. Staff were very friendly and went out of their way. Dinner in the dining room was delicious.
Breakfast is continental. Nothing special.
Great view and delicious dinner, warm staffs and clean room

I very much liked the location but it needs some real attention given to detail....see the 'What I didnt like' area of your survey. The complimentary breakfast was very good – lots of variety and coffee was good. The view of the river from the restaraunts outside tables was very nice....but again no colour or any real attention to greening up the space to make it appear more vibrant, lush & alive.
I very much liked the location but it would have been so very much nicer if more was done to improve the overall first impression of the centre as you drive in through the gates. That is -update & enhance the aesthetics of the entry drive onto the property including the paddock areas bordering the roadway – add some colour (ie: greenery & flowers). Give the visual of entering the countryside; cozy, natural and picturesque. What I saw were areas that have been dug up and left off in the grazing area to the side of the road – scrubby unkept shrubs, no colour along the fence line and not a horse comfortably grazing anywhere. Doing so would immediately influence a the guest/s first impression and remove them mentally from the hubbub of the ‘world outside’ – all about shifting their thinking from work-a-day issues & problems to one of leaving that world behind and now they can relax & enjoy and it would also tie in nicely to the theme of the interior of the centre. The thing I was least impressed with was the restaurant. The food was expensive for meals that were completely lack luster, plain & unimaginative. There was no apparent culinary creativity at all and absolutely no attention to using local fruits & or fresh products – for example the full dinner salad was pathetically small (side salad or smaller actually) and was served with canned mandarin oranges rather than using the many readily available options of seasonal fruit….. Very disappointing. I hope this helps because this venue could be spectacular if some attention went into the aesthetics & food…recommend you get a real Chef or change the one you have to one with some actually culinary talents.
The staff were exceptionally nice and helpful. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the hot tub and pool weren't too chlorinated which was great.
The style is pretty dated unless you are into country themes from the early 90s. also it seemed that the walls were pretty thin. We didn't try the restaurant even though the dinner menu sounded promising, but the $9.95 continental breakfast didn't seem terribly appealing.
The propriety is in serious need of maintenance. We see every seam of carpet with thread sticking out, the duradeck on the terrace is discolorated and used, beds flowers is let to themselves.
staff and sleep. The bed was clean and amazing. Supper was very good. The staff serving breakfast and supper were very polite and helpful. Bent over backwards to make sure everything was good. Especially the young man from the Ukraine. Other then some misunderstanding on room details. We had a relaxing time.
No lunch, suppers not family related, no fridge microwave Unless requested (not relayed in room description), 1st floor is Actually 1st floor is deck - no rooms on ground level even though I asked quite a few times that we needed a room on ground level. Hot tub that understood was outside our room was attached to pool on other side of inn.
The room was comfortable with comfortable beds and bathrobes The restaurant meal was 3 out of 5. The service was good at the restaurant. There are many additional things to enjoy such as a pool, hot tub, horses llamas, an exercise room, lovely ground with a gazebo and a carriage.
I called to find out directions and was asked if I could be put on hold for 5 minutes. I was on a cell phone, so I said I would call back in five. I called back and was asked to be put on hold again. I went to a gas station for proper directions. I did do a search on google maps and it gave vague directions. I am glad we found it, but it took us an hour from the time we arrived in Kamloops. My advice:Next time someone calls don't put them on hold.
A superb place to stay between Jasper & Whistler!! We booked the South Thompson Inn last minute as, having read bad reviews for the hotel we were due to stay in at Sun Peaks, we decided not to stay there. What an excellent change of plan for us! This place is a beautiful oasis in the dry surrounding countryside. We were allocated a stunning King room overlooking the river with a lovely balcony to chill out on. The staff were all SO friendly & courteous- nothing was too much trouble & the food was superb. The swimming pool by the river was a perfect temperature - a lovely place to cool off & relax with a view of the river. The hotel is only a short 15 minute drive from Kamloops - but definitely worth a slight detour to stay at such a lovely hotel! The weather was 10c hotter than expected at this time of year at 38c, but the rooms were cool, with very quiet efficient air conditioning & were actually cool enough to manage without the A/C overnight. The hotel & grounds were well kept & immaculately clean. This is a family owner/run hotel. We met the owner & his daughter & they are very "hands on" with a real passion for their property. I will be recommending this hotel to the travel company I used as I was so impressed by it! We could not have wished for a better place to stay - next time we will stay longer as one night was just not enough!!
Nothing we didn't like
The staff was very attentive. I asked for a coffee in the middle of a hot afternoon and she made me a fresh pot. My friend asked for honey for his tea and they got it for him right away.
Would have been nice to have the option of getting something for breakfast like toast rather than having to buy the whole buffet breakfast.
good size rooms but no coffee maker, tv didn't work so great. good view and good place to relax
could have had more restaurants on the facility
Made welcome as soon as we arrived, staff were excellent and looked after us very well. Lovely place in lovely grounds.
This is a beautiful hotel in an isolated area 25 Kms from KImloops, the rooms are spacious and clean. The Wi FI worked perfectly and the area around the hotel is stunning.
This hotel in addition to taking a credit card authorisation for the nights stay, also takes an authority for $100 for any purchases and $300 for possible room damage, I find this totally unacceptable.
