Max the owner, was very helpful and had a lot of recommendations :), the diner downstairs with discount for breakfast,
the room has seen better days
the restaurant downstairs is only open till the afternoon - so don't expect to have a burger or a beer in the evening;not a social place; the rooms are not nice at all - to call the place rustic is a euphemism; down the line: I should have rather spent another 10-20 dollar and stay at a much nicer place
I was there 3 days ... no washroom- toilet cleaning. Light in the restroom have the same switch has the one in the room ... so you bother everyone sleeping if you put it on!!!! Kitchen very small.
A little outside the village- approx $10 cab ride. But very clean and extremely friendly. Diner downstairs had a retro vibe, but we like it that way ! Cheap and delicios food . Definitely will stay here again.
Excellent staff and so helpful. So welcoming and felt like you were at home! Recommended great spots for hiking and things to do in whistler. Would stay again and rooms were great!
Diner below and staff
Its a hostel that has seen a lot of hiking and snow boots. Located over a diner with entrance through a back door. Steep stairs. The private room would not merit a star in motel ratings.
the location is good and very good diner in the first floor where you can have a discount on the breakfast just for staying at the hotel.
too many motorcycles around. it´s very hard to have a good sleep with so much noise at night and early in the morning. another thing that wasn´t so good is that the owner wasn´t there at anytime and there wasn't a proper reception or a place to ask if something was needed.
Mac the owner was very nice, the place was quiet and convenient. only 5 mins by bus to town.
The owner of the hostel is absolutely amazing. One of the kindest and most welcoming individuals. Really made us feel at home, with out us even asking he told us about all the main tourist attractions, how to get to certain spots, about the bus routes, great local restaurants, etc. Very, very friendly.
There was nothing I didn't like! I would highly recommend Southside Lodge to any travelers!
Comfortable bed despite old and lumpy pillows.
Building in very poor condition and not good value for money. Entrance steps had significant deterioration, presenting a safer issue. Balcony off our room was also a safety issue with decaying floor. Carpet on stairs and hallway filthy.
Starbucks across the road for breakfast
I really liked the dorm. It was good that the room had a living area, with a comfy sofa, tv and fridge as part of the room. The ro also had its own bathroom and balcony which was very welcome.
Lodge is very close to main road to quite noisy especially with the windows open.
Location was great.
Neighbours were partying all night. Roommate kept putting the heat on 40 degrees, making it impossible to sleep.
Not knowing that the diner below played loud music especially on Saturday nights.
Cheap and cheerful!
The diner downstairs
