Having stayed at the Southway a half dozen times in the last ten years, this visit was the best by far--perhaps it has something to do with the change of ownership?? The reception staff were excellent: getting me a coffee while I waited to check-in (the system was down) and then giving me 10% discount vouchers. The same ready and pleasant service was also in evidence in the Restaurant=a vast difference of attitude from what I experienced on my stay last November. Ditto for the room; no chipped furniture to be seen this time! Heartiest congratulations on doing a very good job!

Didn't like the internet service...we couldn't get internet on any of our devices.

I liked the clean homey atmosphere of the hotel and also the fact that it is only a 5 min drive to the Casino and race track. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Enjoyed the Shallows restaurant --- got an upgrade during the current renovations and appreciated that very much.

Enjoyed our visit and cant off- hand think of anything in the hotel that I didnt like -------- so my hat goes off to this lovely family owned hotel............will definately be back for another lovely stay.

Snotty desk clerk upon registration, who did not give me an honest rate... so i booked online and got $30 cheaper which is more realistic. Charged me a deposit, and did not explain why. All i wanted is jest a straightforward registration/check in. Upon check out, the clerk took my receipt away and when I came back for it I have to insist that he took it. He quickly gave it back when an elderly clerk walked in. My receipt was just in the desk within his arms reach. I needed the receipt because it's a business trip. Why can't these desk clerks be as helpful and as pleasant as others in many other hotels I've been to in Ottawa and Montreal? There wasn't water running in the toilet and the clerk did not notify me that they are gonna be out for next 2 hours... There was construction in the lobby which I don't mind but there is not much standard precaution or warning or apology to public except for the tape around the area... the hotel is nice but I would take my family and friends here if the staff will give a customer a bad experience.

Free wifi excellent and staff excellent.

Sitting area did not allow a place for foot rest. Table too high for feet and couch too short. No confectionary.

Extremely friendly staff and service. Everyone was helpful when assistance was needed. Extremely clean, and an extremely convenient location. My get-away stay with my sisters was very much enjoyed and I wouldn't hesitate to do it again!

If the rates were slightly lowered, it would be very much appreciated, and the trips would continue more frequently! - I must add though that it would also be amazing to have a microwave handy during our stay, and I'm sure many others would appreciate that as well :)

Water and coffee in lobby were available when I checked in on Friday around 8pm. And the rest of my stay till Sunday the containers were empty.

I loved everything about the hotel. Felt right at home. The quiet, the room was exceptional. It was one of best places I stayed in all my adventures.

Very nice friendly staff - very comfortable, clean room.

No towel racks in the bathroom. One hook on the back of the door. The "green" card states that towels on the floor will be replaced. Towels hanging up will not. Hard to hang them up.

Everyone was great. Should have more fruit on the table, for your complementry breakfast.

We could be in the same room in two comfortable beds .. there was myself, my adult daughter and my grand daughter. Plus they gave my grand daughter a soft stuffed animal ... that was a nice surprise after a tiring trip.

I paid a full amount for the first day and the discount through booking.com only applied to the second day. I must have misunderstood the rate and thought it was for whole time I was going to be there at the Southway.

The staff are very helpful and it has beautiful rooms.

There are no complaints from me, everything was splendid.

Free shuttle to and from the airport, shopping and restaurants close by. Freezer available for guest use... This is important when you are traveling up north. The king room was very comfortable and had an in room fridge. Nice pool and whirlpool. Allows pets.

No microwave in room, and soda machine was empty on my floor, not enough baggage carts in the morning.

We like the decor, and the location and cleanliness

We didn't like the location of our room, we requested our bed sheets change and garbage clean. It wasn't done. The bathtub was very small.
