Staff was great. Fellow travelers were courteous and the noise level was low on busy nights. Can walk anywhere downtown
Facilities were minimalistic but got the job done. Not a great place to have a car, as the safe overnight parking is in a pricy garage.
the location is very convenient， it's easy for me to walk to somewhere.
Nice and quite, friendly and helpful staff. Good location to the trains and main parts of Vancouver.
It said reception closed at 9pm when it was actually 7pm! No taps in the toilets, only in your room which was a bit strange.
The wifi was intermittent and I did not have a good signal in my room. I had to go to the hallway to use the wifi.
Not easy to locate
clean, good location, sinks in the room
Lack of sinks in the kitchen and washroom having to bring dirty dishes to your room to wash it, same with dirty hands from washroom (doesn't make much sense)
good rate of stay
there's no breakfast meal unlikr other hostels.
I enjoy the people and the location and the price
i wish that the bed was not a futon, and that there was some kind of hot plate or stove top to use.
As a group of 3 young people traveling, we were fortunate enough to stay at St.Clair. The location was superb, the atmosphere was perfect and the staff were gracious. Perfect for our budget.
The beds were a tad hard and the showers didn't get very hot, but those are minor small things we easily overlooked. The place was great!
Quiet. Great central location. Good staff very helpful. Late check in was really easy and not a hassle at all for staff.
No sinks in toilets. Small lounge. Not really a kitchen. Can't cook food there. No sinks! Only in rooms so not very handy as if you get up earlier than others in room dont want to turn on light and wake everyone else up. Rooms very small and not much room for luggage especially if room full. Toilets and showers should be cleaned more thoroughly. Should do hostel activities/tours etc. This would make the hostel more friendly and make people in them talk to each other more.
Staff are very friendly and helpful. Nice, clean building with good atmosphere. Nice rooms, showers and heating (in-room radiators!)
Would be nice to have s stronger WiFi signal in the rooms. WiFi signal was visiblessed in the room (was in the room furthest from the router) Kitchenettes could be a little bigger (doesn't have quite enough to cook a good meal)
Great location, right next to Granville street for shopping, bars and restaurants.
I know this place is pretty cheap but having me sleep in essentially a toilet was pushing it.Our room 30a was essentially a converted toilet with bunk beds in it. we had to walk though the toilets for the 3rd floor to get to our room, I could hear every sound when someone used said toilets. The door looked like it had been kicked though at some point to as the frame was all gone around the lock, not what I would call secure either. The showers were pretty horrible too with the ceiling turned black with mould. Generally unpleasant, luckily we were only in Vancouver for one night.
As a traveler's Hostel, it's good. Good staff, clean, sink in every room. At the low rates don't expect the full hotel amenities - there aren't TVs or anything extra in the rooms. Location is very central, walking distance to many things.
There only seemed to be 2 toilets on 2nd floor. Since there's sinks in the rooms less bathrooms are needed, but if the place was much more full it could be an issue.
I liked the location, charm of it being a heritage building, but that's about it
beds sucked. There was a glass window at the top of the door which let in both light and sound from the hall, so it was very noisy.
Location, very nice staff (Laura the English girl), clean room.
A bit loud at times....other lodgers arguing etc..
The price is super low and the location is excellent. I highly recommend the St. Clair Hotel & Hostel.
Great hotel, I have stayed there before and will definitely stay again
Staff was great at checking. Put me in a dorm room by myself even though I was booked in another dorm, which was nice if them.
Bathrooms and kitchen area could have been cleaner. Would have been nice to have lockers like some other hostels.
location, quiet and clean place
no sink at the toilets, no real social area
Secure front door at night.
Loose outlet. No option to choose between bed - up or down.
Staff is great, location is great - close to everything, rooms are ok as well
St Clair, is right downtown just off to the side of the entertainment district.
cold, dirty, old, loud, bad smelling, small, no kitchen facility, unfriendly staff, unsocial there is a common room but it's a complete joke. Wouldn't stay again.
I was upgraded so I had a roomkto myself.
As it is an old building the floor boards creak and the doors and windows rattle.
The beds are realy bad. They make a lot of noise and they aren't comfortable
Great friends from all around the world
