Score from 290 reviews Very good
- Staff was nice and helpful - Location was decent
- No breakfast, a croissant isn't a breakfast. - Paid parking on an icy hill - staff helped with sand which was awesome and they cleaned it the next day but the fact I was paying $8/day for it wasn't cool.
The staff were very helpful and friendly, they gave us advice on where to go out for food and a fun time. The room was clean and the hotel felt safe and secure.
It was a bit loud at night because of the surrounding bars. The parking lot is small and fairly icey in the winter.
Clean, tidy room. It was very warm (important in winter!). Very friendly stuff, they allowed me to use their printer. Nice hotel in overall, I would stay there again.
Scarce breakfast, there could be more options. Please put a kettle in the breakfast room! Narrow spiral stairs may be an issue. For example, if you have big luggage.
Location is great, staff r AWESOME, rooms r clean. I've been going to this B&B for 4 years.
Had little expectations. You get what you pay for... Was fair for the price. Friendly staff.
The staff was super attentive! We had 5 people instead of the 4 person limit, they upgraded our room to 2 for no extra cost which was much more convenient! We were expecting to be squished and just deal with it but they made it so much easier!
The cleanliness of the bathroom was not great. Unfortunately the shower was not clean in either of our rooms. I have stayed here before and was a little surprised because usually the cleanliness is 100% perfect.
This hotel was a great value. It's only a two-minute walk from the Papineau stop on the green line and located on Rue St. Catherine, which makes it easy to walk downtown. The room was very clean, the bed was incredibly comfortable and the staff was friendly and relaxed. I would definitely stay at this hotel again when visiting Montréal, and highly recommend it!
If you're looking for a decent little place that's easy on the wallet, definitely consider Hotel Ste-Catherine. It's also super accessible, steps away from the metro!
Possibility to have a cheap parking. Amability from the personn at the office.
it was quiet because I had a room at the back. Good continental breakfast.
The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. You definately get what you paid for.
I didnt like the parking at all. The spots were so small and there at times were no way to get out because of blocked cars. The staff didnt speak very good English. And the location wasn't exactly what were expecting right in the heart of the Gay Village.
Shabby decor. No elevator. No breakfast.
The receptionist Alex was very kind and explained us everything about the city.
There's no elevator.
It was very easy to find hotel Ste-Catherines. The location was right down town so there was lots of places to eat as well a grocery store, which was very convenient. The room itself was very basic. The AC worked and the shower was warm however, so no complaints there. Overall, not a bad stay at all for the price and location of the hotel.
The only complaint u would have is that the shower didn't look the cleanest (though it was mainly the grout that was dirty) and the windows were also filthy. There was also only one thin pillow per person, so if you are a 2 pillow kind if person like we are, bring your own!
The location is god, near the subway. The hotel is really clean and well mainteined. The hotel staff are very attentive, polite and friendly. The price is not abusive. That´s an excelent option to stay in Montreal.
The location is very convenient
We found bed bugs in our hotel room, they came out at night and we caught two. When we took them to the front-desk, they refused to refund us. We spent the night in a coffee shop. The showers are disgusting too.
We came to Montreal for vacation and our budget put us in the lower range hotels. I was really surprised at the quality of this hotel for the price. The 2 managers were really great! Both were really helpful in suggesting places to go as well as helping is figure out how to get places. It has a small continental breakfast and is centrally located in the gay village. It's about a 2 minute walk from the Papineau Metro station. It's not great if you have mobility issues as the only way to get to it is up a flight of stairs, so if you need accessibility you need to find somewhere else.
My only issue was the bed, I found it uncomfortable and difficult to sleep on but my fiancé slept well.
Staff really very helpful with sightseeing tips.
Very noisy air condition, small, bad beds
Wifi Fridge into the room
Noisy!!!! (Inside and outside) Strange place Tv broken
Noisy There isn´y any wardrobe There is a strange smell inside the room and hotel Is near to a dangerous park (people takes metadonne)
Before we arrived, the things we liked about this place were: location- nearby our points of interest, price with options for breakfast, WiFi and cheaper onsite parking. After we arrived (after we found the place) the best things were: still a location, WiFi in the room, and staff, especially Alex. The hotel is located on a festive street (pedestrian only in summer!) in Gay village, decorated with thousands of pink balls and boiling with life (bars, restaurants, theaters), street art and performers. We got a quiet room at the backside of the hotel (as requested during booking) with only noisemakers being a shower and other visitors. WiFi in the room was always good, reliable. A positive thing was a fridge but no coffee/tea maker or a microwave in the room. There was one in the cozy little breakfast room though, available at any time if we wanted. Reserved monitored parking was available at any time. We were assured that security of the parking and hotel is at high level at all times because they monitor them with webcams 24/7. Most backyard windows but had metal bars on them. The most valuable part of the hotel is Alex. He was extremely helpful with anything we needed: helping us up the spiral stairs with our suitcases, a helpful hand with a difficult to close window, safety in the hotel and parking, extraordinary service at breakfast, LOTS of useful tips and suggestions for events and driving directions, site seeing in Montreal and Quebec. Alex was the main factor, the shining star that kept me in this hotel instead of running away in search of the other place to stay. We also met a couple nice friendly international families there.
Inaccurate information about the hotel. There was no advance notice that we wouldn't be able to drive to a hotel by the address given because Ste-Catherine street is closed for vehicles and turned into the pedestrian area in summer. To get to our pre-paid parking we had to leave a car a block away, walk to a hotel and come back to the backyard of the hotel following instructions we got from the desk guy (Alex). As someone mentioned in other reviews the entrance to the hotel is easy to miss even when you already know where to come back because it's tightly tucked in between of other properties in the same building. When you open the front door there is no hallway or lobby, you have instantly climb up the stairs and look for a "reception desk", which is a window from/into the tiny security/reception room. To get to the rooms you'll have to take a few more stairs no matter which: second or third floor you'll be on. I didn't notice that there would be any first floor rooms there. The second way to get into your room, especially if you're with a car parked in the backyard hotel parking space, are metal spiral stairs, sticky from something someone poured on them. Imagine making it up and down with several suitcases! But stairs are not the worst thing (if you're not too old or disabled). They are a part of the Montreal architecture style, the part of hotel's "character". The worst thing is - the place is stinky. The smell met us as soon as we opened the door, and it became even worse in the room. They have a huge no smoking sign at the top of front stairs and we booked a non-smoking room but ended up in a place that smells like people have smoked there for years and the old smell of smoke soaked into the walls, blankets and sheets. They try to disguise that smell with Air fresheners but that makes things even worse. We asked not to spray anything while doing housekeeping during our stay. It didn’t help much...
Quiet atmophere in the hotel, very pleasant staff, availabillity of parking
bathroom was quite small.
I like the location and the staff was very friendly
The bathroom was a bit small, but I made it work
Clean, quiet and spacious. And really cheap! Staff was friendly and helpful. Near to two subway stations (Beaudry and Papineau) and accessible to McDonalds and other good restaurants.
Too bloody cold. The AC was full blown. Better curtains and bedding would be great. The bedding felt cheap and rough like it was bought from Dollarama. Curtain was too short and barely covered the window properly.
Friendly, helpful staff plus a good location
