The location is excellent and the price can't be beat. It has maintained its historic old world ambience without feeling like a bargain/cheap hotel. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
All was fine except, the bed was too soft. Hotel beds should all be firm!
Close to everything with parking close by too.
We liked the location of hotel - close to everything we wanted to see and get to! Complementary breakfast was included which was great. There's a great pub/restaurant there - the Sticky Wicket and great nightclub - The Clubhouse with live band Wednesday evening for us 50 and 60 year olds. We'd go back again during off season - so much cheaper
central to just about everything in Victoria and most things within walking distance. lots of restaurants in a the few surrounding blocks.
no soundproofing so you hear everyone in the hallways. very noisy nights due to the pub and nightclub below the hotel, both open till 2am
Room was small but comfortable, great value for the dollar.
Cleanliness of the stairwell wasn't very good, there was a beer can on the steps for the duration of my stay, which also makes me question the security of the stairwell if it's never checked.
Quaint, early 1900's hotel, upgraded. Very reasonable price for the location includes continental breakfast & Wifi. Located downtown close for walking to many attractions, shops, pubs and restaurants.
There is really nothing we didn't like. Rooms are smaller (and less expensive) than in modern hotels; there's no desk but our room was adequate and very comfortable.
Although my room was very clean, the building is old, rooms very small, worn down and lacks amenities. I booked a queen room for $60/nt. And must say it was one of the best value for dollar, location I've stayed at. However, peeling paint in bathtub, minor mold, worn out furniture and a lack of power outlets( very old building) leave me to suggest a much needed renovation. The staff was very helpful, friendly and I would recommend to anyone looking for a budget friendly, well located, but bare bones accommodation.
The location was good for walking, and the young housekeeping lady was very nice. We asked to check out around 12 and the staff was happy to accommodate. I enjoyed the free breakfast :)
Room was very small for the price, especially for two people, and I did not have a good sleep on the bed (although my friend had an awesome sleep, so its a hit or miss I guess). The area was a bit sketchy at night to say the least, and there are many homeless people around begging.
Good breakfast and location
OK parking facilities. The pillows and mattress were both uncomfortable. Our room wasn't cleaned and fresh towels weren't provided even though a note on the bed said otherwise.
Awesome location. There's a couple pubs right beside the hotel and only a couple minute walk to everything down town. The room was also very clean
Thin walls, so It can get a bit loud and being right beside a bar doesn't help the noise from outside. The water in the shower was only warm and didn't get very hot.
The continental breakfast is amazing
The bed was not that comfortable. Left window open all night, cause it was hot
Bed is uncomfortable.
Close to everything
Other guests that come in in the early hours squealing and making loud noises.
The clubhouse is pretty nice and cozy. The building is really nice.
Wifi did not work on our floor, they don't have any repeaters set-up, so you're expected to use the weak signal upstairs. For the price, it was pretty meh. Will stay somewhere else next time.
The noise if the younger guests later at night
Close to sights and ferry and shopping
Excessive noise from patrons leaving nightclub downstairs and then yelling out in Main Street out the front. This is from 2:00 am on, then coming back to rooms drunk and making lots more noise.!
Great location, great price, quiet rooms!
The location of the hotel was good the breakfast was great
We had a first floor room overlooking Douglas street. It was very noisy with music from the drinking establishments and people yelling until 2.30 in the morning.
The staff were very nice and efficient. Parking was easy.Easy access to everything, including the pleasant breakfast. The whole experience was very stress free.
Love the location and value. We have seasons tickets to the opera and the Royal Theatre is only a five minute walk away!
The staff are amazing. I stored my luggage at morning and I could walk free in the city.
All furniture and decoration are very old. It needs a renew.
Great place to crash, watch a little telly. Several different pubs in the building, each differently themed. Best prime rib.
Shower had iffy water pressure. Some folks may not enjoy sleeping above a nightclub, but i was so tired it didn't matter. Could hear my neighbours a little more than I'd like
Really noisy in the hallway outside our room at night.
Unbeatable location. Very friendly, helpful staff. Very reasonable cost.
Walls are thin and noise can be a factor. Nightclub on site means music (ie. bass) can be heard/felt until 2AM on lower floors. One of our beds was on the soft/saggy side.
