Score from 459 reviews Very good
the location, the fell of the place and the food and beer ect.
central location clean and spacious room breakfast included historical pub
there is a plastic layer in the bed which makes some sounds when turning some roof vent made noises when it came on occasionally
Furniture is visibly worn. Mold stains the tile in the bathroom. I believe our room was "clean", but it didn't look clean because it is so worn down.
Breakfast was fantastic. Great selection!
Wifi dropped in and out. Not very fast either when it was connected.
Restaurants in hotel
Close to downtown. Good value. Friendly staff
Loved the location
Location Accommodations In house restaurants, which are very good. Liquor store next door
No coffee maker in the room, but that is not a deal killer. The continental breakfast had everything we needed.
The location of the Strathcona can't be beat, and the value for money is very good, particularly since Victoria is an expensive city in general. Overall, the stay was comfortable, and the staff were very helpful.
The wifi signal in the room was low, and the room itself was a bit cold (we visited in late December). It's probably due to the historic building and the fact that Victoria doesn't usually get very cold, but we needed to stuff tissues around the window frame to keep out the draft.
In all departments of the hotel, the staff were so kind and courteous and efficient. The food was so good, as was the ambiance in the Sticky Wicket. We shall return! Shirley and Susan
I could dress up and walk to the symphony. We were able to walk on to the ferry and take the bus right to the Strathcona. It was my son's birthday so we found the easy access to the bars great.
They do not allow pets, so usually when we are in Victoria for concerts we will not stay there,as,we almost always take Mudfy with us. Too bad...pet unfriendly hotels are dumb. also my answer to question 2 was none of the selection you gave. My son and I stayed at the hotel...none of the choices you gave.
One of the best things was the location. We especially like the proximity to the public library. It was a good place to spend a rainy afternoon. Thanks
Everything was easily accessible. Location was 5 minute walk from museum and harbour. Lots of restaurants, good night life. Old style hotel.
If you wanted to sleep early it was hard. Night club and many bars on lower floors make it loud until 2 ish in the morning. Bedrooms are not sound proof. You can hear the TV in the next suite and some of the conversations.
A small room. Not enough towels or toiletries Tiny Tv Wall sockets and light switches in odd places. It didnt feel like away from homee
The staff were all chatty and friendly even when working on New Year's Eve and new year's day.
The continental breakfast bar needs more toasters..traffic jam!!
Cannot beat location for cost in Victoria excellent and very accomodating staff- especially on New Years Eve! Thank you! hotel cost includes access to 5 bars and two restaurants housekeeping was excellent - even though the room was old - it was still clean and no fear of bugs or other peoples leftover visit.
Its an old building and so very cold room - mini baseboard heater could not keep up with cold air literally blowing in from outside even with curtains tucked in and blocking the flow. No heaters are offered as the building is old and electrical cannot support them. (*Note that staff did their best offering a room change and 2 extra blankets) cheaper rooms are cheap for a reason. you're on a lower level either looking at a brick wall literally 3' away OR viewing the bar/volleyball court. Old and dated room with a bed that had a slanted mattress from people sleeping on one side as the blankets are tucked way underneath. \The walls are paper thin. I literally heard the person on the cell phone that the person next door was talking to on speakerphone...and their snoring. BRING EARPLUGS.
Location was primary. People were friendly and courteous. Continental breakfast was very good.
Did not have a fridge in the room. TV reception was very poor.
Apart from the bed and hairdryer, the rooms were clean, the showers were good and the cleaning staff around the hotel and front reception staff on check out were great. The breakfast was good Location is good
The staff in the morning were great, the staff when we checked in, not so great. The hair dryer fizzed and smoked when we tried to turn it on The beds we're uncomfortable, one was very uneven.
The hotel was like, right in Le Centre!
That bokings. only prints good reviews.
The cleaning folks were polite and helpful
Lack of information provided.
Breakfast didn't fit for dairy intolerant. They have not known if something in the breakfast was dairy free.
no coffee pot and cannot boil water in the room. This is a big issue for me.
revelry noise-inside and outside on street. talk noise through walls, tv, doors closed. noisy.
Location and cost. Staff friendliness and helpfulness. Great hot shower. Classy / elegant breakfast room.
I liked the price very much, very affordable for the amenities it offered. The rooms were respectable for the price and the beds were very comfortable. Everything was very clean and the heating was very good. The complimentary breakfast was also better than I expected for the price.
The rooms were not sound proof at all and almost anything and everything could be heard, the TV's were very old and the view was not very nice.
