I liked the price very much, very affordable for the amenities it offered. The rooms were respectable for the price and the beds were very comfortable. Everything was very clean and the heating was very good. The complimentary breakfast was also better than I expected for the price.
The rooms were not sound proof at all and almost anything and everything could be heard, the TV's were very old and the view was not very nice.
Aside from being within a short walk of everything you could want to do in Victoria, it was nice having breakfast included and being able to stay in the building for dinner and drinks during the rain and wind storm!
Even though we were on the fourth floor, there was a lot of street noise from the bars and club in the building at closing time. It just lasted for a few minutes, so wasn't that huge of an issue. There is no air conditioner, so it may be hot in the rooms in summer.
Hotel had plenty of character, breakfast was great and room decent.
Room service should replenish glasses etc if the old ones are cleared.
- Close to every attraction places in downtown Victoria - hotel has every entertainment facilities in one place - lots of night life around the hotel!
- no tap water/coffee machine
Window onto a solid brick wall, walls and ceiling poorly patched, run-down beat-up furniture. Closet had 4 hangers on old piece of piping. Room was something you would find in a flea-bag hotel! Clerk had the audacity to call it a "Boutique Hotel". We had room 220. Have absolutely no idea how others rated this so highly.
noisy if room over street
friendly and helpful staff, social activities, location, food..... not much not too like
took too long for the hot water to flow to the shower.
Location and value, meal was reasonable
Noisy when the bar let out at 2am, slow service in the restaurant. Breakfast served from 7:30am, I checked out at 7 and couldn't even get a cup of coffee.
location that the hotel offers a multitude of social options (games room, night club, restaurant, rooftop in season, big bad johns, liquor store) all on one block. We were not there to use the facilities however (we live 15 min away and had a friends 30th).
Beyond outdated room decor, making it feel less than clean but having faith that with the demands of society, rooms are cleaned as in any other hotel with modern decor lol. We overlooked Douglas street which is very loud with buses coming and going so bring ear plugs if you plan to go to bed earlier than 2am:)
Great place to stay in the heart of Victoria. Free continental breakfast and cover to the bars.
Perfect place to stay downtown at a great price.
Shower head needed a cleaning.
Location was excellent and so was included breakfast!
Too much noise from 5 bars downstairs and people blocking sidewalk in front hotel
TV wasn't easy to use
I missed yoghurt, cheese, eggs and bread for a continental breakfast. The waffels and bagels weren't very fresh.
pleasant staff several restaurant choices within good value for its price
perhaps needs some updating
They let us cancel the second night with out any charge
The bed was uncomfortable and we woke up with bad backs The TV was an crt old TV with poor picture quality The room was freezing as the window had many drafts and the heater was poor, instead of moving us they gave us an extra blanket! The staff member on the front desk was rude when we arrived too There was hair in the bath of different lengths and colours and marks on the pillows.
Still......close to downtown!!!!
This place was close to the area of town that I needed to be in the next day, so that was convenient. It was also fairly inexpensive, so it's got that going for it, which is nice. No bed bugs as far as I could tell.
The carpets in the room we had were deeply stained with what I hope are spilled drinks. The bed was very uncomfortable, so we made sure to get a bit drunk before going to bed.. You know, to dull the senses a bit. I'm a die hard so I didn't mind so much, but my girlfriend was so disappointed by this room that I booked that I had to take her on a vacation to Tofino to make it up to her.
Value downtown location
After the bar closed down on Two separate occasions within 30 minutes of each other drunk men tried to use their card keys to get into the room. They were obviously on the wrong floor but were very persistent...a little nerve racking for a single woman. Won't stay there again because of that. Otherwise very good value.
After hours the Hotel was secured except to people with a key.
The advertised breakfast could have been a bit better.
centrally located downtown very friendly, attentive staff free breakfast reasonably priced
older hotel, rooms are on the small side
Staff was super nice and helpful. They knew the area, allowed us to leave our bags with them once we checked out for the remainder of the day until we caught our ferry. We had a very simple but comfortable room for what we paid which was very reasonable compared to prices in general for just about everything in Victoria.
Staffs Facility Location Everything
Very noisy. There is a club beside the hotel and it's terrible noisy. It takes me hours to fall asleep.
