Surrounded by shops and restaurants on trendy Queen Street West in Toronto, this boutique hotel has rooms with minimalist décor and a mounted flat-screen TV.
Score from 165 reviews Good
Toronto’s historic Gladstone Hotel is in the heart of the city’s art and design district.
Score from 70 reviews Very good
Premium rooms face a blank wall less than ten feet away, which was not disclosed, ie. no view and little light.I requested a move to a standard room which was great. But I did not receive a reduction to the standard rate, which is not cool.
Nice place in the downtown. Close to sub. Very contemporary design with a lot of detailes. I stayed 6 floor with nice view. No breakfasts included, but they cook whatever you want and quite fast.
In 6.2 room was too noisy - fan at the elevator. Too thin walls with low isolation. In the bathroom I felt a sort of vibrating, just like when the cell calls. Had troubles with hot water at the shower. Waited for 3-4 mins for not too hot water even from the cold. Some troubles with wifi appeared from time to time. No signboard. If arrive not by taxi hard to find.
Cool kitchen concept Excellent decorand design
Wi-Fi was slow Water temperatures were irregular, often too cold or too hot even on the extreme settings.
Loved that it was a boutique hotel. Very unique. Could eat in the kitchen with the chef if you so choose.
The conditioning fans in the corridor are audible from anywhere inside the hotel.
Front desk staff very helpful and pleasant. Felt this hotel is meant to appeal to a much younger demographic.
Location - bar district, street noise into early hrs. Hotel bar; poor selection, layout uncomfortable, staff not able to mix drinks.
Very trendy hotel in great location. People extremely friendly and helpful. Great concept, food and eat at chef's table concept was awesome.
How its been rated as 5 stars hotel. No telephone in the room, no lubbey. You dont fell your in a five stars hotel.
Noisy and no service
Friendly staff, interesting interior design, very clean
There were many features/amenities mentioned that weren't actually available: tv was broken, wifi was weak at times, kitchen had nothing that was listed on their menu
Hotel was modern and simple. Very stylish and minimal. Luxurious.
The ipad system to speak to concierge was slow and inconsistent.
The entire staff acts as they are your family- personal, professional , helpful and overall incredible. The on staff chef made me a world class meal. This is a one of a kind experience- from the time you enter the hotel ,throughout out your entire stay.
Great hotel, great staff and superb restaurant
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We had the pleasure of dining in the kitchen for two delightful breakfasts and one luxurious dinner. It was hard to leave!
Window view,simple lay out
Bed on wheels without breaks on it, no coffee maker or mini fridge. Made do without though
It was a very nice modern place. Definitely a different type of atmosphere then your typical hotel. The beds were very comfortable and it was a nice touch having an ipad in your room.
I did not like how I could hear every passing vehicle thru the night. Windows need to be more sound proof!!!!! Also I did not like the huge glass bathroom door. It was very heavy and awkward to open and close.
Don't stay there expecting it's a 5-Star which is the rating it has on Booking.com. At best it's a 4-Star and some of the key facilities are not even operational, such as the Japanese spa. I wouldn't be surprised if it's repackaged and sold as condo'S. Not good value for money as a luxury hotel.
The hotel was well located if you want to see the city. I really enjoyed the contemporary feel.
Do not stay at this hotel if you want to sleep. I was there on a Saturday night and it is located directly in the clue district. Sirens and extremely loud noise from the street kept us up u til 4am. Then on Sunday morning construction started at 7am. We came home exhausted.
The hotel restaurant, Monk Kitchen, and its head Chef, Roberto Fracchioni, were absolutely amazing -- best dining experience we've ever had. Loved the design and decor of the hotel and our room, especially the eye to detail and many unique pieces of art and custom furniture.
The use of Apple TV and the iPad, while novel, was not ideal -- especially, when combined with the hotel's poor internet connection (couldn't get Netflix to work due to network/bandwidth issues). Not a big deal, but the glass door for the bathroom was very heavy and much harder to open then it should be -- so much so, that it looks like its custom handle has begun to work itself loose under the strain.
